i understand the point of this jataka is to show that one must listen to wise advise and change one's behaviour or suffer the consequences, yes indeed, it's a classic lesson in Karma; however i must add that this pigeon in the story lacks and sense of compassion towards the crow suffering. was it just that he was plucked by that mean person out of anger and vengeance? no, that was cruel, the crow was only hungry, unwise, but hungry. we must still respond in compassion, not coldness.
