The Igoshina of candlelit video fame and the Igoshina of these waltzes don't seem like the same person. The beautiful princess in the videos played the A-Flat Major Polonaise, Opus 53, flawlessly and with great aplomb. THIS Valentina Igoshina sounds tense, nervous, and barely on top of her material. This set of waltzes suffers from thin sound, little sense of play, and just generally falls short of the mark.
I disagree that this is too slow. It is, however, much to BRITTLE.
No one plays these waltzes as well as Ingrid Haebler You will find her on youtube
Jus type in her name....you will be amazed.
