  • Note for Nick Luck: The Arc is the greatest race in the world.

  • @debbider sea the stars would have destroyed workforce fact.

  • I remeber hearing on bbc 2 that someone had £100,000 on fame and glory.

  • debidder = spa!

  • he won the triple crown, so how can any one say he is overated, 6 group ones off the belt, he beat proven group 1 horses through out his career, whoever thinks he is overated needs to give there head a wobble !!

  • @lazerus121 which triple crown is that then? would have won the leger doing handstands, but wasn't in the race... which imo is a real shame... but hey you can't have everything!

  • how can anyone say sts form lines are awful????

  • Sea The Stars was never tested to the Max. - he's the horse that would have dug deep and pulled a bit more out if anything had of came to within a neck of him. But nothing got that close.

  • he only ever did wot he had to do because he was a very intelligent an special horse if u think hes overrated u obviously no nothin. people who say that beat that so that wud beat that no nothing coz it just doesnt work like that end of.

  • best horse ever.

  • Fame and Glory just got beaten out of sight in the Irish St Leger,LOL Sea the Stars form line is awful

  • Sea the Stars is the most overrated horse ever

    \

  • @debbider lol you are joking mate.. any era, any lifetime he would be a champion

  • @debbider ha yeah i suppose he only won 6 group 1s as a 3 year old and was the first horse 2 win guineas derby and arc beating 13 group1 winners while doing it(fame and glory, rvw, debussy twice over, conduit, youmzain, stacelita, mastercraftsman, cavalryman, dar re mi, cima de triomphe jukebox jury and vision d'etat) but i suppose they are all overrated as well! Stop talkin shite wen ya cleary know nothin i cant believe 21 muppets liked you comment!

  • @debbider I cant see how you reach this conclusion, on what evidence do you get this?

  • @debbider The Arc, Champion Stakes, English Guineas, English Derby, Juddmonte and an Eclipse. Are you sure you are alright?

  • I love how once Mick pulls out the whip at 3:45 is like saying "Ok Sea let's GO" and GAME OVER for the field. The best I have seen in over 30 years. That other Champion there was not to shabby either(Zarkava)

  • SeaTheStars is simply 'The Best'. Don't bother telling me about timeform or other greats. STS sits there like Haile Gabrselassie and then puts his amazing turn-of-foot pace into gear when needed, only needs to beat them by a length (thats all he needs) ''You can only beat what is infront of you'' and ''The hourse of a life-time'' did just that, what a class act maybe never to be eclipsed again. A true great and IS the best there will ever be!

  • Does anyone know what happened to Gan Amhras. I havent seen he since

  • Sea the stars is one of the best horses ever. Only Dancing Brave could have lived with him. Frankel seems something special too. Lets see how he performs in the Derby if he gets the trip

  • @bigblackbear123

And what about Zarkava? Isn't she one of the best horses?

  • dunnejamez, After Workforce's impressive maiden win and track record in the Epsom Derby, he was built up as being the one who would eclipse STS. Then, with all the juvenile success that Frankel had, he's now being billed as the one to eclipse STS. Both Workforce and Frankel are great colt's in their own right. No doubt about it. But what STS accomplished is extremely rare and very special. Workforce or Frankel will never close to doing what STS did in his career, IMO.

  • Comment removed

  • ...frankel is a freak just like sea the stars hopefully nothin goes wrong and we wil see something special this year he wil go unbeaten and breeders cup mile is a dead cert as only danger uncle mo wil step up to the classic

  • sea the stars was the best not like he was like workforce and faced a bad field in races he was beaten proven group 1 horses easy rip van, fame and glory , mastercraftsman ,conduit, delegator and ah arc from a impossible position jim mcgrath said it was was perfection in the equine form .....he always had alot letf in the thank he wasnt the type of horse who would destroy a field by 10 lenghts but he was more than capable of

  • @dunnejamez LOL Workforce beat Fame and Glory in the Arc even easier then Sea the Stars beat him during his career

  • @debbider recieving weight for age you fucking idiot on very soft ground

  • @joemynes The Arc is a weight for age race so whats your point you fucking donkey? all the horses in the race are under weight for age conditions you fucking idiot

  • @debbider

yes you fucking clown but you cant talk about a 3 year old vs 3 year old (sts v fag) and then compare it with a 3 year old vs 4 year old (workforce vs fag)

and as for sea the stars being overrated you obviously tried to oppose him didnt you and lost your house you idiot coz you clearly know nothing about racing if your saying that, your basically slagging the last 2/3 years worth of 3/4/5 year olds that he beat that went on to numerous group 1's, talk sense you fucking idiot

  • @joemynes Put a muzzle over your mouth and cut off your fingers

  • @debbider exactly thats a decent reply because your point is shit and you dont like the horse for some reason or another, you mug punter

  • @joemynes Well said mate debbider some fucking clown.

  • @debbider Oh yes and workforce did amazing winning just 3 or 4 races in his whole career.

  • Machine!!!

  • it was just great to see a horse finally do the Guineas / Derby double . Been hooked on racing since accidently catching the Las Meninas/ Balanchine 1000 in 1994 and it had never happened . All the stuff that followed was icing on top of the cake and each race was a major event . Truly great for all us fans of racing . Many thanks for posting and all you other guys who upload these great races

  • Golden Sword ran a huge race on the lead as well. 3 place finish I believe?. But Sea the stars is a wonderful Champion. Maybe we will see Frankel do the same in 2011??.

  • The greatest horse of all time!!!

  • @altormey Give me fucking peace mate!!!! Great horse as he was your having a fucking laugh mentioning him as the greatest. Have you heard of a certain Dancing Brave who would have blown him away likewise Nijinsky, Sea Bird II to name just a few!!! How long have you been watching horseracing? let me guess!!! the full duration of about 2.5mins one saturday last June by the sounds of your ridiculous quote.

  • @bigttim1 WelI i have my opnion do I not?? And im a big follower of racing ive watched a lot of racing and not like u just down the bookies, to me Sea the Stars is the best of them all. Where's Dancing Braves Derby? Nijinsky's Arc? Yes both were only just beaten but Sea The Stars won the lot.. As for Sea Bird II he was a great horse but Sea the Stars credits are better i feel.. To win Group 1 races in 3 different Countries at variable distances says it all..

  • @altormey You haven't a clue, Did you see the field Dancing Brave beat in the Arc? Its probably the best assembled in Europe since Sea Bird II won his in 1965. He demolished them in record time. STS was a great horse but quoting him better than Sea Bird II which is totally ridiculous. He won group ones on the bridle against top fields STS never did that, Hence timeform rating Sea Bird the greatest ever. STS was good but Sea Bird, Dancing Brave, Nijinsky are better for Me...

  • @ASupremeOwl

I'm very new to racing, what do you think of Frankel's prospects?

  • @Bizarroisb00n I've followed Frankel since his debut, Bred beautifully and a great story to go with it being named after the late Robert Frankel, Another great trainer remember seeing Ghostzapper run a few times. In my opinion Frankel will be the best miler next year, Im not sure he will line up at Epsom but I certainly feel he's the one to beat in the 2000 Guineas after his win at Newmarket in the Dewhurst., He could possibly race in the Greenham stakes before the Guinea's...

  • @Bizarroisb00n If he wins the Guinea's who knows maybe Cecil could train him for the Derby but I think this is an horse of such talent that he wouldn't risk his reputation if he didnt think he'd stay. Maybe the St James Stakes after that. I certainly hope he furfills his undoubted potential because Henry Cecil deserves another superstar. My tip for the Derby this year is Recital the Ballydoyle horse, Looks a very very promising prospect out of the great Montjeu...

  • @bigttim1 How do you know DB would have beaten Sea Bird II?Afterall SB's opposistion was better even than what DB faced and beat them further without even being hit with the whip then being eased and patted down the neck.Find it really hard to agree.

  • @altormey

What a bollocks attention seeking comment!!

  • Greatest race in the world?? Maybe the best 3 yr old race in Europe... Super horse though. What was J Murtagh thinking?

  • Performance!

  • @horseracingfan, I agree 110% with that. When it comes to turf racing. There's none tougher in the world than you see the horses from Ireland and Great Britain racing and winning in. I've often referred to Ireland as the country where champions are made. Look at all the great horses from Ireland and Great Britain that have raced at the Curragh or Leopardstown. Shergar, Giant's Causeway, Galileo, Sea The Stars. Nowadays, even horses like Fame and Glory, Rip Van Winkle and Mastercraftsman.

  • This race, IMO, is the one big mistake that Johnny Murtagh made riding for Ballydoyle. Choosing to ride Rip Van Winkle over Fame and Glory over 12 furlongs. I personally think that Fame and Glory is twice the colt that Rip Van Winkle is. Juddmonte International Stakes win and all. I'd bet Fame and Glory to beat RVW any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. Not that STS was going to be beaten in this race. But Murtagh had a better shot on F&G than RVW. As the result's clearly bared that fact out.

  • would secretariat win on this course? Too demanding I think

  • @slickwillywize, that's why you don't have a thinking job. Secretariat was able to win on any course, and any surface. He did it. Enough said.

  • @GBeret83

Clearly, you dont know Epsom!! its the most demanding Flat surface , and I do believe secretariat didnt run there. Quit with the attitude too me , as the question is a valid one and needs no aggression from someone who didnt get the nature of the question given. Read before Answer in future mate :).

  • @slickwillywize It is a good question. In his favour-mainly left handed and usually quick ground.Against-uphill,downhill requiring a very well balanced horse. He may have been slightly too big an animal to show his best here and would really depend on the opposistion.Lester always said how nimble a horse needs to be around Epsom, short and stocky(The Minstrel and Shergar being perfect examples).Sec was a very big long striding animal who's ability to gallop things into submission was awesome....

  • @slickwillywize ...It is however very difficult to be in the van all the way around Epsom due to the steep uphill rise for the first 4 furlongs and there are few front running victories over 1m 4f,Slip Anchor/Steve Cauthen being the best.A very debatable and interesting question.

  • The Epsom Derby is the Derby, how anyone can say another Derby is better I dont know, there all named after this race. Lord Derby, every other Derby in the world is based on this, Orignal and best, undisputable

  • does it really matter if sea the stars could beat dancing brave nijinsky etc he could only beat what was put in front of him hes without doubt one of the best racehores of all time his record says it all legend.

  • @rdb73100, Amen, well said. There's some guy on here that goes on and on about how great Dancing Brave was, and I know he was, and that STS doesn't belong at the top of the list of all time greats because he didn't beat his opposition by enough lengths. Hogwash I say. The bottom line in racing is getting your horse across the wire first. Whether it's by 1 or 21 lengths. STS still won 6 straight of the biggest Group 1 races in Europe. You don't accomplish that without the word GREAT involved. IMO

  • he never had to ! - kinane steered him brilliantly everytime, no starkey cock ups, but admittedly, he was awesome in paris - just as STS was ... you gotta look at the records ... STS was better

  • Comment removed

  • @GBeret83, but could STS of made up 12-14 lengths on a very good horse in 2 furlongs like the Great Dancing Brave did in the Derby? STS is a great racehorse, but i do not rate him as good as the Brave. Regards

  • Comment removed

  • Abracadabra .. abracadabra !

  • does any one else agree that whether he stayed or not STS would have won the St Ledger with Mastary on his back. Why is the triple crown so meaningless in this country.

  • Comment removed

  • @GBeret83 this is exactly my point American lives for the triple crown, i know i would love to see a triple crown winner and i am sure other racing fans would too. so why do breeders and trainers not even think about it.

  • See the stars was the horse i bet on last year nice to see it again.

  • If you look at the end of the race, Kinane is having a job pulling STS up! Great race, great horse, great jockey. Wishing them both a long and happy retirement.

  • Comment removed

  • course he would have, dont forget new approach pulled the arms of manning for half a mile, 4th last round tattenham corner with a wall in front, real true group 1 engine he had and what a tough colt but Sea The Stars just had the full package

  • I don't doubt it's the "supreme test of a 3yr.old colt," but I don't know if one could say it's the greatest horse race in the world or not. I'd say if you took a worldwide poll, the Kentucky Derby would score a higher % than the Epsom Derby. JMO.

  • id say if you took a poll the kentucky derby would be a better spectacle but if you wanted to take a pool on the better quality of horses it would be the derby and the arc

  • completely different galloping style to any other horse , evry once in a while in every sport something raises the bar beyond everything else and this is simply that. what people need to realize is its 2010 , horses are better bred and trained than ever so its bound to happen . the guy saying he's overrated .... YOU MASSIVE BELLEND

  • anyone who even tries to say that they've witnessed a better horse than sea the stars is thouroughly talking out of their ass. no other horse has done what he's done end of story , every race won with only a handfull of strides off the bridle . most other greats didn't have certain stables plotting to tactically beat the horse ie juddmonte .. won the arc easy after being knowhere at the 2 furlong pole . its not even in question he is the usain bolt of racing . big horse bounds rather than gallop

  • i think u maybe can if u were alive to see secretariat

  • Comment removed

  • @GBeret83 Ive only seen the videos with the superman music in back lol Unbelievable, I think he also unofficially holds the Preakness record aswell but there was a malfunction with the timer and whatever time he got has only been equalled and never beaten. His Belmont time of 2.24 cannot be beaten, its just impossible. 12 seconds a furlong over a mile and a half is just perfection, perfect blend of speed and stamina and it would be hard to find a horse ever who would have beaten him that day.

  • @johncarew1000 What a bullshit remark. Sea Bird II, Dancing Brave, Nijinsky, Mill Reef are just a few I could name that are better than STS. STS was a great colt but not the best ever...

  • the derby is run once a year ,the best horse wins in his year ,

  • fame and glory my arse! wot a f*kin legend. this year belongs to st nicholas abbey. dont listen to anyone on steinbeck its a farce. the st is the next legend. i've got a ton on dunguib at 3s and the saint the same. i'll be laughing come june!!!

  • he is the best horse that ever lived. 136 rating is not high enough. it should have been 140. people who dont recognize that what this horse achieved or say that he retired too early really dont know the racing industry. and to say that he should have went to san anita is ridiculous, the drug infested racing industry in america dont deserve to see this horse.

  • sea the stars has proved that he is the greatest flat horse of all time, people cry about the tactics employed by aidan o brien and other trainers but when you come up against an all time great tactics are as about useful as sand to an eskimo

  • The best horse in the race won comfortably but there is no way on God's green Earth that Sea The Stars could have won this race by 10L - or by even half that distance.

  • Es emocionante ver el Derby de Derbys.

El Derby de Epsom, ganado por SEA THE STARS,considerado como mejor caballo del mundo durante 2.009.

Para mí,siempre corría igual y su galope hubiera mejorado a cuatro años.

  • I will always think this:If STS Had to win by 10L he would have.He found this game oh so easy.

  • @guitarlegend32 , STS was going all out in this race, no way could he of won by 10 lengths.

  • @147ard All out?He was only doing what he had to do-as ever.Said it before, say it again.Because of this he was able to hold his form better than any horse in the last 40-50 years including Sea Bird, who because of his nervous disposistion, was underraced and Dancing Brave who somehow lost in the Derby but whom also had a 2 month break before his prep for the Arc.STS to me,is the most COMPLETE horse of this 40-50 year era who also improved both physically and in the form book with every run.

  • @guitarlegend32 so how would STS of won this race by 10 lengths or any other race?

  • @147ard

Have you seen the Coral Eclipse or the Arc? If you've seen those races and understand how horses run, then it should be blindingly clear that Sea The Stars idles when he gets to the front. Kinane and Oxx have confirmed this time and time again as well.

Do you believe that STS was only capable of sprinting for 100 meters in the Arc and he was spent after that? Or that in the Eclipse he was going all out and Rip Van Winkle ran up to him and just faded (instead of STS picking up)?

  • @AWrulez , STS is a great racehorse, i disagree with guitarlegend about 10 lengths, i just dont think he could of won all his races by 10 lengths, for example do you think he could of won the guines or eclipse by 10 lengths? To me it sounds ridiculous.

  • Dancing Brave's defeat was purely down to atrocious riding... not even the mythological Pegasus could have got Greville out of the mess he got him in that day!!!

  • why u all argueing.. i just read 1 comment about him only beating the other horses in this field by a few lengths and they've gone on to do nothing better.. but sea the stars was never a prolific winner in any of his races, he just did enough n won the race, thats wat jon oxx said all along, and keybender your right, wat a foal sea the stars n zenyatta would make!

  • thanks good man

  • could anybody tell me the purse of this racing ?

  • if you change it to american dollars it will be $1,826,684

  • Brilliant horse STS, can't believe he wasn't favored. Love Zenyatta too, no need to hate one or the other. Too bad they won't race against each other, though it's not unlikely they will meet each other in the future. Wonder what a STS-Z foal would go for?

  • It would go for fortunes keybender14! Just imagine a horse, Sea The Stars/Zenyatta foal!!!! Wow!!!

Still rather have a Thai girl anytime!

  • i think the main reason he wasnt favourite was because the majority maybe thought there was a stamina doubt, in hindsight he stays every yard. the punters, including myself, went for fame and glory who had romped the derby trials in ireland and was a guarenteed stayer, he took the same route as previous winners galileo and high chaparral

  • the only reason he was favourite was because aidan o brian who is a brilliant trainer said he was improving all the time and people believed it

  • Sea The Stars just has unbelievable acceleration. He just explodes with speed at will.

  • hate the way the english commentator keeps referring to all the irish jockeys and trainers by thier surnames. Murtagh, bolger o'brien etc. what an ignorant git. they cant stand the fact that all the best horses trainers and jockeys are irish...

  • ' the supreme test of a 3yo colt... the greatest horse race in the world' yeah yeah yeah...

youre preaching to the converted mate... it does my head in .... these presenters think you were born yesterday... ive followed this game longer than they have.... do they think they're talking to a bunch of teenagers...? well they probably are... racing these days is crap... its not a patch on what it used to be.... and this was a shite derby...

bunch of irish.. listed class, donkeys.... shite.

  • You feign knowledge and then say that the Derby is won by Irish donkeys and listed horses ? I love it when an Irish bred wins and then people say 'oh, the derby was shite that year.....'

And GW was a donkey ? Expert mate, expert.

  • george washington (rip)

raced 8 times after the guineas and won only 1..

beat a bad derby winner in the guineas too.. sir percy one of the worst derby winners ever, what with dragon dancer coming 2nd.. he never won again after epsom either. bad crop. end of story.

if you cant handle that, you re blind

  • whats your point?

  • @deano2009007 His point is probably that STS is overhyped and overrated. Which he is. He was very good but he wasn't THAT good. It takes more than an unbeaten record to qualify as the greatest. I'd put Shergar, Nashwan and Dancing Brave ahead of him - not to mention earlier horses.

  • he beat what he was challenged with and you call him overrated. i could pick holes in the horses u mentioned but i still think they are great horse. for you to say sts was not that good says a lot about what you know. i think i would listen to john oxx and mick kinane b4 you,but then again what would they know about horses,RIGHT. you seem to know the horse better.

  • Never heard anyone call it the greatest race in the world mind ....

  • @Katabatic77

    what are u on about

  • golden sword, masterofthehorse -

have they won a race since then ? and yet they were within a length n a half of the so called 'best horse ever'.. what an absolute joke.

rvw didnt stay. fame n glory beats mourayan (who) in the irish derby..

listed class all of them . at best seen novice hurdles run faster than this derby. end of story.

  • your a dumb fucking reject,u know nothin. i think john oxx and mick kinane would a little bit more than you. winning a derby and arc, ya i would never want a horse like that. your just a 10cent yankee weekend bettor who whines like a bitch. ur a dime a dozen in bookies all over. ignorant as fuck and your last comment says it all

  • according to dickhead, you have to be either irish,

john oxx, or mick kinane to know 'anything' about racing.

this fucker contributes zilch to you tube. it doesnt even

have an argument or facts to back up an opinion. it merely posts insults to those who know more than he does. sad. obviously aint had any for ages, thats why its

whinging about nothing. if u like i could arrange for

sea the stars to come n cover you.

  • more than i have said that you made no point. you are an idiot. and the proof is you actually think you know more about horses than one of the worlds best trainers and jockeys, what an idiot. your probably english, you cant even breed greyhounds dont mind horses, thats why you have to go to the irish.

  • lmfao, this fool thinks he knows horses and he calls a multiple classic winner no good, lol. what a donkey. btw i guarantee he doesnt like because he is not english and he is a big fan of NH racing over FLAT. thats when you see that they just havent a clue

  • anyone who thinks 5 horses finishing within a length n a half of each other, is a good derby,

is livin in cloud cuckoo land. this prick has no understanding of racing at all. its argument is based solely on someone elses opinion

    therefore your comments are worthless

n u got nothin to say offer some facts instead of going round tryin to correct people like ur the fucking bible on racing.

    and another thing..

    dont email me again. ever.

got better things to do than talk to scum like you

  • you really are a fucking muppet, ur seriously telling me that horses have to win by more than 10 lengths to be classed as good, giant causeway only ever won by what he needed too. harchibald was the same way over the jumps. did you not see the breeders cup with Zenyatta. she is probably no good in ur eyes too i suppose. really shows what no know, fuck all. what was the distance with the first 5 there. stick to your 10p yankees and give out about the channel 4 tipsters.

  • Don't remember Nijinsky,Mill Reef,The Minstrel and particularly Llammtarra(who broke the track record) winning by very far.Motivator won by 5 lengths yet do you honestly think he would have beaten STS?Lest we forget, what did Sharastani beat other than a horrendously unlucky DB?It was perfectly o.k for DB to idle in his King George win but not for STS in ALL of his?I'm with you Green.

  • thank you, someone who knows that some horses only want to do just enough. i love horse racing and i would not say any of the horses who won a derby was bad, dont mind one of the highest rated horse ever,STS. and this guy is telling us that he knows more than all the professionals.

  • Opinions are what racing is all about through betting for the man in the street, right up to the official handicapper at the jokey club!It does seem though that no matter what this animal acheived some will crad him. They would argue the opposite of me and you.Simple fact though to me which I don't think can be argued is that he's one of the few, maybe only,of the modern champs that we never really saw the best of due to his tendency of self preservation. That,to me is why he has his unique record.

  • good point.. john oxx said himself that sea the stars was never a horse that was gonna win by 5 lengths.. dont matter what the winning distance is, his record and rating speaks for itself! cant argue facts!

  • I personally think the mistake that Aiden O'Brien made was not running Mastercraftsman with Rip Van Winkle in the Classic. I think M.C. would have made a better accounting of himself in the Classic than he did in the B.C. Dirt Mile.

  • Who will win the derby next year since August i have said ST Nicholas Abbey will win it i got 25/1 now is 9/4.Can any horse beat him in the derby

  • He does look good Henry.I just have a slight doubt that a horse with such speed and change of pace like his will get the trip. All the same I thought that of STS and look what an asshole he made me look!

  • @guitarlegend32

He is a Monjeau horse a 1m4 should be ok for him. though i hear on his dam side he has lots of speed. And that speed will win the derby. there not a horse out there who will stop him from winning the derby

  • The racing post have just published a book on STS....its really good and a must for any fans....has got all of his acheivements in it.

  • Recommend this book to everyone. The pictures captured are stunning and a fitting tribute in such a short space of time.

  • I strongly agree!! My copy arrived last week. I especially recommend Racing Post's Sea the Stars book for American racing fans (like me). In addition to many excellent photos, it helps those less familiar with European racing to appreciate what the excitement is all about. An excellent tribute to a GREAT horse! If it were published in the US it would definitely garner an Eclipse award.

  • I don't think enough credit has been given to Mick Kinane. His tactics and handling of the horse were excellent in nearly every race, especially in the Arc when STS looked a little frisky at the beginning.

  • Outstanding horse and a disgrace that Generous was rated above Sea The Stars but none of them would compare with the brilliant Dancing Brave. I know everyone can argue the Derby issues but the jockey not the horse lost the race. Greville Starkey should have got 30yrs in jail for what he did.

  • Why wouldn't he compare to Dancing Brave?

  • Generous was rated 139lb by timeform .. STS is rated at 140lb .. Dancing Brave 140lb also ..

  • I see the American morons are out in force again on a video about a European race/horse. American's seem to have a very unattractive disease where they think everything has to come to them and they think that they are somehow the yardstick for greatness (ha) and rulers of all the universe. In fact sod it, I think I might go on a Zenyatta video and say how her handlers are cowards b/c they won't bring her to Europe b/c they are scared.

Don't ya just Love ignorance ?

    =)

  • Lest we forget,STS didn't need steroids to be ata his best.!!

  • if sea the stars was owned by mr magnier and not that noodle cruncher we would of seen the race of our lives in the breeders cup, at least the o brien magnier team arnt affraid of the yank horses like some ,

  • The whole European argument over Zenyatta,as good as she is,is the fact that Twice Over is too close to her.He is rated officially 12lbs behind STS.He may actually have improved by the U.S conditions, but I would have been amazed if he got that close to STS.

  • guitar. Sorry. The argument is over. Zenyatta is the best. Face up to it. As anatasi says, the cowards were no shows.

  • Maybe the Zenyatta connections are the cowards Sugartom by not having the balls to come to Europe. Why do we have to come to you under your conditions.Like I said Twice Over wouldn't get within 10 lengths of STS.Why are only American champions any good?also why have U.S handicapper agreed that STS is rated 140 and Zenyatta 132 the same as Goldikova?

  • Well said. And we shouldn't forget the amazing Zarkava, who is probably the most similar to Zenyatta.

  • who are you calling an idiot dumbass zenyatta is 14 for 14 she would beat rvw blindfolded she would also see off the cowardly rachel alexandra and sea the stars for good measure

  • shes a great filly but you you cant say she would have beaten sts for sure, she beat the rip fair and square but theres no way he showed his true running, he finished 10 to 15 lengths ahead of twice over during the summer......

  • the yanks horses are a million times better than ours , i mean come on half the good horses in britian are from ireland and everyone knows all there good for is spud growing , there to busy chucking bombs at each other...........

  • why dont you try pacing zenyatta on a plane flying for 12 hours taking her to epsom in mid summer and try taking on rip van winkle he would have distroyed zenyatta if he had of been healthy

  • American horses run on level, left handed, tight courses - and invariably with assisted "medication."

European horses; especially British and Irish racehorses, have to encounter straight,, left-handed, right handed, undulating, tight, galloping tracks - in short, more varying, and altogether more testing. I backed Zenyatta. She's a great race mare and proved her liking for Santa Anita and the pro ride surface. I just wonder how she would have coped on a left-handed undulating track like Epsom

  • its all ifs and buts your arguments pointless your opinion an my opinion differ .gimme cheltenham festival any day of the week. far better racing than breeders cup.

  • cant wait cuzzy, not long now. I suspect the irish will clear up as usual, Dunguib has a great chance in the first, Solwhit looks the safest bet in the champ, Captain Cee Bee and Sizing Europe have Somersby to beat in the akle. The Irish own the festival but Nicholls owns the Gold Cup

  • zenyatta kicked some serious european ass the idea that rip van winkle was going to win was a sick joke lol the cream always rises once again us horses prove themselves the best

  • rip van winkle would have distroyed zenzatta during the summer he was running on a tight track on a surface he never ran on and has health problems and didnt run at all so you obviously dont know what you are talking about europes winning rate at the breeders cup was much higher than americas you idiot 28 horses not even the best horses were there and we still won 6 races

  • worst comment ever

  • I saw Secretariat in Belmont... Ghostzapper, great horse and great performance in Breeders Cup 2004. And Skip Away? Don't like? Is best you see the race of B.Cup in 1997. Today, unfortunately there is no such horses. If there Zenyatta would not have won the Breeders Cup. And if offered 90 millions for Sea the Stars, today, Gostzapper and Skip Away offered 360 millions. 90 millions for each hull.

  • GB. I saw Kelso, Troy and Kingston Town racing. None of these compare with the mighty Zenyatta. You have to go right back to Kincsem to get up to this standard. My favorite British horse is Eclipse. Sea the Stars is not in this league. Too pampered.

  • Did you see Eclipse run, S.T.A, R ( what an acronym ! ) ?

Sounds as if you did. lol

Nah, it's guesswork, I know, but Sea The Stars would have destroyed the likes of Eclipse or Kinscem ( despite her great record ).

Eclipse, according to historical records, had the most eccentric style of racing; his nose almost touching the ground as he raced. The nags he faced were an inordinately poor bunch. Most of them couldn't get the chestnut off the bit and very few bothered to take him on.

  • MrPapaBill. Yes. Of course I saw Eclipse run. Do you doubt it? Class horse. Won 18, you know. I was five years old at the time. It took me four years to get there by sailing clipper.

  • Oh, I don't doubt it.

Won 18 - yes... 8 of which were walkovers. In other words, no race took place on those eight occasions as the cart and farm horses failed to turn up. He also won a match race against Bucephelus ( no, not AtG's great nag ! ). The remaining nine races were against horses which wouldn't win a selling race in Britain these days.

Nevertheless, he was still a good horse in his own right, and 90% of all modern day throughbreds can be traced through him.

  • ps the only yank horse id loved to have seen from the breeders cup meetings ive seen would have been ghostzapper

  • sts is a middle distance horse not a sprinter, he won every race he could and dont tell me if you got offered 90 million you wouldnt take it

  • this horse would eat Zenyattas food

  • If Rip van Winkel, the second best horse of Ireland was tenth in Breeders Cup, Sea the Stars have been in the eight,in the best. Ireland only has a great horse: Goldikova.

Yesterday, Goldikova seemed the Great John Henry. Congratulations.

  • conduit is irish goldikova rip van winkle sea the stars all irish horses conduit is only after winning back to back races in the breeders cup rip van winkle beat him by 2 lenghts this year rip van winkle is a much better horse than you think but he has serious health problems he just didnt run his race at all when you take into consideration there were only 28 european horses at the breeders cup and they managed to win 6 or 7 races awhile they were hundreds of american horses there do the math

  • see if you want to be stupid and take rips run in bc literally? then why dont you look at twice over's run at sandown, where he got beat 18 lengths by sea the stars. zenyatta beat twice over by 2 maybe 3 lengths. So there we have it, concrete 100% PROOF that sea the stars would have beat zenyatta at least 15 lengths. You must be fuckin crazy. Unfortunatley it dosent work like that or wed all be millionaires. Some people.........

  • cuzzy did you watch royal ascot where the american sprinters destroyed us....

  • i watched it, i was on jealous again at 12,s were you? thats one horse in how many years? an american horse competing for a group 1 in europe is unheard of.

  • zenyaata would of blown this mickey mouse horse away, and the slant eyed prik who owns him can take his millions and feel real guilty cus he bottled it.............................

  • You are one stupid racist prick who has no idea of horseracing. How dare you.

  • how come we never get to see these yank superhorses in england, running on proper courses an not tracks that look like their made for speedway. just a thought.

  • Yeah! The plane could fall.

  • Sea The Stars has been tested at every type of classic distance and on every level and has not only succeeded but has without fail absolutely crushed and humiliated each and every competitor accomplishing feats not seen in many decades. The reason he is doubtful to ever run again is that the risk of injury far outweighs his value as a stud now.

  • I though Rip van Winkle was going to be the next great 3yo from Europe. He hasn't done much. Sea the Stars has beaten him how many times this season? Like two. But now that Sea the Stars has been retired, Rip van Winkle may finally wake up.

  • Sea the Stars removed permanently from racing... Fear???... Fear of Overdose? Fear of Rachel Alexandre? Fear of Zeniatta? Fear to lose? Man o War, Secretariat, John Henry also lost and did not fail to be the horses that was. Eight winning races is very litle to be considered a legend. Sea The Stars is only a very good horse...he could be much more... if they let him.

  • why did ballydoyle get rid of mick kinane he gets is own back today and ballydoyle have not won a breeders cup race since they got rid of him

  • Behave yourself. Zenyatta would have no chance against Sea the Stars. Zenyatta won't even win the BC classic if she turns up.

  • Zenyatta no chance against Sea the Stars???... They had to right not to take the Breeders Cup. It happened the same as Rip Van Winkle: Humiliated by a girl.

  • Sorry, i only understand English.

  • Sea the Stars is equal to Zeniatta.Go back, save, to win in sprint. A horse with great class, a super-horse, is always in front from start to finish. I have been saying that he is the best horse in all times..Who says it should be admitted to mental hospital. If he worth 75 millions, Secretariat worth 75 billions. I hope Sea the Stars go Dubai next year. Despite to be a diferent horse Overdose seems that will be also. Overdose wins with a quarter of a furlong.Guaranteed.Will see.

  • I live in Kentucky, only about an hour from thoroughbred country. American's can argue over who's the better horse, Zenyatta, or Rachael Alexandra, but this horse, now retired, would destroy either one of our champion females, imo. And I say that being a huge Zenyatta fan.

  • Probably Mine that Bird is the best. The way he won the Derby was spectacular - like the great Secretariat.
