Wanderlei was so good in PRIDE but not so much in UFC for two reasons: Father time and different ruleset. PRIDE rules gave strikers a significantly wider toolset that they don't have today. Knees to grounded opponents, stomps and soccer kicks made Wanderlei's legend in PRIDE. Now not only is he older, slower (and the chin isnt the same, but eating bombs will do that over time), but half his finishing power is illegal.

Wanderlei was so good in PRIDE but not so much in UFC for two reasons: Father time and different ruleset. PRIDE rules gave strikers a significantly wider toolset that they don't have today. Knees to grounded opponents, stomps and soccer kicks made Wanderlei's legend in PRIDE. Now not only is he older, slower (and the chin isnt the same, but eating bombs will do that over time), but half his finishing power is illegal.

Do just a little bit of research and you'll see how many were caught. Look at Silva's jaw to see how it changed over time (HGH abuse). Look at his muscles and compare his Pride body to his UFC body (at the same weightclass)...he is much bigger in Pride when comparing the Pride MW (205 pounds) to the UFC LHW (205 pounds) images and video of him.

@StompKick89 actually wanderlai was getting older, the hits were piling up and his nose was so messed up he couldn't breathe through it during fights. messes up his cardio. when he dropped to 185, he had surgery to clean it up and regain his ability to breathe through it during fights. so no it's not the size of the people he fought

@jayremmi, Anderson will always support Wanderlei because he came up through Chute Boxe which is Wanderlei's camp. Shogun did as well and a big part of the reason they were all so good was because they trained together. Wanderlei was in his prime while Shogun had yet to hit his which was a big part of why Shogun became so good. Since Shogun was in the same weight class as Wanderlei and was Chute Boxe second best LHW he & Wanderlei constantly trained together and pushed eachother.
