Honestly, nicd's are far inferior. Go for some gp cells. IB also makes powerful cells but they are prone to failing much easier than gp batteries. Lipos are even better but if you are new to electrics i would start with nimh.

How about you buy a pair of normal gloves and cut your throttle finger of the glove. For example, if you use your left hand for the throttle, get the left hand glove and cut the index finger of it.
BTW Fathead, you ain't the only dude that has a E-revo, cause i pretty much own maself 1 as well. Custom E-revo from kershaw designs man, that shit is brutally fast, but still i need better batteries then the 1's i have. and i don't believe that even with the rustler that can be up to spec i still don't think it would reach up to the E-firestorm. even im too scared of whipping mines becasue even when i try to adjust the clutch, it wheelies on demand. i jus love ma electrics to the MAXX

The e-firestorm is much better. I have an e-firestorm and had a rustler. The firestorm is lighter, handles much better, looks alot better, and the suspension is a world different. Full steel gears and a sealed diff in the firestorm make it's tranny better than a rustler's. The rustler's gear isn't full steel. From what I've seen, the firestorm is plenty durable. Check out my other video where I get like 6 feet of air and crash a couple times. Nothing broke or made any noises after that run.

Ya I only got one day of filming in and i like to take care of my trucks so I dont do anything too crazy, that's what the pede is for but it wasnt running well.
Its ok to drive the firestorm crazily. Trust me I hace the nitro version and its survived numerous bad landings from jumps and a crash at around 30 MPH so don't worry about that.
Being 30-50* Fahrenheit here and only running on flat I have it geared with an 18t pinion and a stock spur i believe. It runs warm at the most and has plenty of speed and acceleration for an 8.5 rated bl motor.
wait a minute...you're using a 18t pinion and the stock spur and said it runs warm...yet I use a 7700kv mamba max with a 2s 6000mah maxamp lipo and use a 19t pinion and stock spur... IN SOUTH FLORIDA and run warm ... does novak run hot?

GP is the brand I reccomend. Also make sure to get a good digital peak charger. The duratrax digital piranha is a good budget peak charger.

rustler, way easier to use and tougher. i ran mine into a tree full speed with mamba 7700 and 8 cells and only thing that broke was a bulkhead

yea yea, better suspension, better stock stuff, but once you get the rusty up to spec theyre even.
my rustler is long forgotten now, it got ran over by a tractor.
i now drive a stampede, neu 1515 12 cell brushless revo 2.5r, it does 62 mph on 12 cells and 72 on 4s
also drive rc18t and my new beast is a tamiya TT-01 mm 7700 all aluminium.
custom made alum chassis, all alum parts from asiatees(.)com including suspension
it does 74 on 6 cells and on 3s lipo 104 mph on gps
