I know everyone loves Penn, but I thought Jens was brilliant on The Ultimate Fighter as a coach. Not just his coaching skills, I just thought he came across as a top bloke.
I think one of Jens' only real weaknesses are fighters that don't give'em time to think, cuz his ground games good his takedowns good and without a doubt his stand ups good but he's not used to fighters that control the pace
When's that? I know that Caol Uno rarely or I think never won when went to UFC so I'm sure a fighter like Jens would beat the crap out of him but BJ Penn? I've never heard of that one before. When was that?
those body shots man, those really take your wind out bad.. i've been using those in practice a lot lately.. so my coach told me to check some pulver's fights... i'm nothing close to be as good as jens is, but hope some day to be as good as him tho.
undefeated at 145? former UFC champ? chokes out swanson in 35 seconds? already faced more outside the ring then faber ever will inside? No you cant count out Jens.
of course not. but hes not past his prime yet. He hasn't had this much to fight for in a while. hes finally found a stage for his natural weight class (again hes undefeated at 145. I expect a performance akin to the first penn fight, same motivation, same underdog status. same wonderboy opponent. except the fact that fabers smaller. yeah hes 34 which sounds old for a fighter, until you think of couture at 48 another fighter with the same kind of up and down record as Jens.
these damn fools who have never met jens and never gotten in the ring or octagon are all the time judging true fighters. jens has so much heart and he is truly grounded and humble. he is an ass kicker and a champ. i love the guy as do thousands of people.
You guys are all so blind, styles make fights yamamoto would lose because he is arrogant and he would want to trade pundhes with jens. Yamamoto ko's people who cannot box as good as jens and that would be yamamoto's fatal mistake. Remember Jens is a pro boxer, Yamamoto=slugger/wrestler. I wouldn't say Jens would destroy Yamamoto, but he would not be beaten so easy because his experience and power.
Why do all of you have to try and insult the fighters. Bj is good Jens is good, both won a fight against each other. I don't like Bj but i don't insult him. As for Jens having no class or respect is just plain stupid.
I contend that BJ was the better fighter when Jens defended his title. I think that BJ underestimated Jens, and consequently, took him lightly and did not apply himself.
Just cause Jens lost to BJ doesn't mean he's a bad fighter...BJ is a beast man everyone knows it. Everyone also knows all it would take is for Jens to hit him with a good shot and take him out..
Thought it'd be good to include the pre-match introductions and post-match interviews. If you were really concerned you could have skipped the post match talk.
Same combo everytime. Jab, straight left, left hook to the body, straight left

Jens Pulver was KO'd by Takanori Gomi. That fighter Jens beat isn't even a top ranked or well known in Japan.
cruelgrotequeblood 2 years ago
Damned good fight though, that fight made me fans of both fighters.
k1bagami 2 years ago
Yes. But Jens Pulver has fought and beat alot of the best. He's beat BJ, Caol Uno, and put up a hell of a fight against Urijah Faber.

When's that? I know that Caol Uno rarely or I think never won when went to UFC so I'm sure a fighter like Jens would beat the crap out of him but BJ Penn? I've never heard of that one before. When was that?

It was downhill for Jens when he lost to Joe Lauzon. I don't see him beating Urijah either. I think he's past his prime now.
