how do you get your t.60 to keep spinning while scratching? no matter how light i touch its either the record doesnt catch on my finger, or the platter stops. did you use different slipmats than the stock ones?
Thanks upping this video. You have showed me what i needed to know. I have been stacking on vinyl for years but never had enough cash to throw down on a decent set of turntables. I mainly want the T60's to mix but i am sure at some point i might dabble in the "scratching world' but nothing crazy like your demo. wicked skills man , thanks for showing the light on the stantons. cheers
I am sick of hearing "get a pair of technics". Yes they are good turntables. But everyone cant afford to buy 2 of them. So when those with less money buy stantons are vestexs. You Technics dick riders always shit on us for buying the cheaper alternative. I bet some of you Technics lovers dont even own a pair of 1200's....there I said it.
I see that you don't flip your turntables so that the arm is parallel to you. Im trying to decide whether to flip mine or keep them regular the way the way they were designed
Great video! Thanks. I have a soft spot in my heart for Stanton products and have been looking at the T60 forever. It's still on sale in fact. So watching this was helpful. I may buy a pair eventually as less company's are making record players, especially at this price, and I would like to use a DVS eventually. Tired of carrying 10 million CD's. Thanks again.
@DeeJayMotivation You're right about that. Stupid things go wrong with Stanton products. Especially the cd players. I love them though. They're value for money at first but no matter how well you take care of them they're going to break.
i'm buying some stanton's. I had 1200's, 1210's and i could use the extra left over cash. It's not like they are new to turntables they have been making needles since forever.
No but you cant compare the scratching on a cdj to a vinyl they just dont sound the same. Technics however are more reliable and durable they'll last you years without a single problem.
Hey, what are some good slip mats if I buy the Stanton dj lab 2.1 or the 3.0 package? I also can't decide if I want to spend the money on the 3.0 or not. What the difference?
seems like the record has a softer scratching sound. as opposed to the c.314 which has a much crisper and sharper sound (you can obviously tell it's digital being manipulated)
I'm looking to get one or the other...I do sampling/effects and very little scratching...so it makes more sense for me to go with the c.324s (or c.314s) but wow is it expensive lol
respect on your skills.I also got some t60s. you make the deck sound so nice :) hope my skills get this level soon, too.btw can i attach a shure 447 to it?
i own the 1200's, but want to get another set of tables. am not a scratch dj, but i can, am more into just mixing(blending) my music. would the Stanton t60 be good that for that purpose. what is a good webcam system to buy. and how do i set up my account with youtube, so i can display my mixing sound. old school all the way, and old school R&B. being doing this for about 4 months now.
Peace.. Thanks for showing me the scratch capability of the tt60. Right now I'm using the vestax vci-100 midi controller for my mixes. I'm originally a vinyl dj but my 12's got jacked a few years ago so I migrated to the digital realm. It sounds good, just like vinyl but the vinyl feel just isn't there with my unit. that's what i miss. All that just to say I will be copping 2 of these. Any suggestions on a mixer with a good crossfader curve for under $200?
Im no DJ, just a music lover. U keep bringin that knowlegde and schoolin me wit whats up. Also I enjoy your mixin and cuttin on them records. Keep movin and grrovin fo sho!!
Hi I was wondering if you could post a demo on how to properly calibrate the t60. I just bought one and when I use it with traktor the BPM jumps around slightly. I don't know if it's because the cartridge isn't on properly or if the tone arm counterweight is not balanced properly. I am new to mixing so this would be a great help.
Maybe how to set the cartridge properly because it's a straight arm and how to balance it with the counterweight.
i know this is damn old, but i think its because they don't have a quartz pitch lock, so the bmp will change by a small amount slightly in the mix unless you ride the pitch
IDK technology is getting better and pretty soon I think it will become more convenient to do cdjs. Just look at the new pioneer gear. I would like to see Vinyl touch some of those effects. But look at the price also. ^_^
hey, do you think thr t.60 is good for a begginer scratcher? i hear some people saying the torque isnt that good...however i think the butter rugs can fix that right? so what say? i think i can get a Djlab2 for 250. what ya think?
hey i got a technics sl 1200 for 190$ so im not complaining and i definitly want the stanton 314 cd deck at my guitar center they have 2 of these with a mixer on display and its all yellow with like yellow faceplates and i have only seen it in stores want it so bad!!
I think youd be a great product reviewer man! your really good at speech and analysis :D im thinking of getting a pair of technics before i buy, do i need to know anythin in particular?
Yeah, I wish Stanton would have recognize how many c314s I might have helped them sell and gave me a free STR8-150 in return -- to review even! I had my heart set on the STR8-150s but had to settle for a 1210 instead.
Nothing much to know. Just get decent carts and slipmats.
expencive but they are the real deal and you hav more fun on them aswell, you alwase get more respect as a vinal dj because your skills sre reel your not getting some softwere to help you lol, its like the man ses he sels more 1200 than cd decks, i hav always sed it they will never go away, no one will listen to this they will go and buy the cd decks anyway but i tryed, keep the real dj spirit alive youse vinal lol
depends on what you are into. i have both cdj 800's, and a set of 1200's. for turntablism/scratching, I agree. vinyl of corse.(its easier on vinyl anyway. those cd decks dont give an accurate feel.) but for spinning in a club, nothing beats the convinience of cd decks.
dont get me rong the stanton cd decks are good decks but when it comes down to hoes the better dj the vinal man alway wins and he lookes cooler while he does it, cd decks just show that your tight as a camels ars in a sand storm lol, buy vinal, they might be more
With the influx of serato and torq, more and more kids are reverting back to 1200's just cuz they want to emulate battle tricks using the real deal. I sell more 1200's then pioneer cdjs at my shop 3 to 1. Nowadays, people don't "need" 1200's but its still the best choice appearantly. Thats just what I see. Nice video showing some skills tho.
a mixer, i reccomend buying one of the dj lab's by stanton, either dj lab 2 or 3..they are both good for starting up :) they dont cost that much and they come with everything you need to get started... if your willing to spend more than about 800 dollars..( as a begginer i dont think so) you might want to get 2 pair of turntables...and a mixer i dont know about what mixer but you shoul check out the following t-t's
You are not using the slipmap that comes with the turntable, right? If I put a finger over a 7" spinning on the t.60 the turntable keeps spinning but if I try with an 12" LP the whole thing stops. Any tip with my problem? New slipmap? Any pro tip?
i like those new turntables like vestax and stanton, i think they have much better Price/Feature Ratio, but i went with the 1200 used cause it looks sooo classic. as a 2nd one i probably will go with numark or smth else. cool music/scratching, inspired me
Hi, first of all what you do its so elegant and different, im my opinion.
second, i got two t60, iam a beginner in this scratch world, sometimes jump the arm, its because me of course, what about the cartridge? shut I buy another better?
I was using Shure M25Cs in this video; I later upgraded to some M44-7s, but that was only because the needle on my M25Cs went bad.
Years ago I used to scratch with Stanton 500ALs (the predecessor to the carts that now come with the T60s) and they weren't too bad. You might just need to train your hand a little. I have my weight balanced as suggested by Shure at 3 grams for the M44-7s, and I think the M25Cs had the same suggested weight.
for 40 $ more i would have bought a good condition second hand 1200. personally i don't like the plastic feel, the low torgue, and the cheap tonearm assembly...
But the higher end models from Stanton def could replace the Technics.
good work man, nice record selection too.. but i've heard that the t60's might lack torque and seem to be a bit underpowered (not responsive enough) for scratching and beat juggling? is that true at all? and how's the torque on this deck? thanx a lot and again, on point scratching man..
pretty much the turntables can be cheap... its the man that controls the turntable that speaks lyrically. its based upon the dj not the equipment mostly. alqahtani can be successful in all feilds the costly and the basics. great job my freind. :)
hey qahtani, nice work! i own two t.60's and am very pleased with them. only thing i plan on changing is probably getting some better slipmats or maybe just throw some waxpaper. but where would you recommend purchasing some better quality slipmats?
Turntablelab should have some. I bought some from Guitar Cetner. The Stanton ones really aren't bad if you add wax paper. Google on-line; you could probably make your own mats out of felt.
qahtani, I have an important question to ask before I purchase the t60. Is the turntable good enough to use at gigs, and will it last for a while, and also is this a good turntable if I'm going to be mixing and scratching heavily to hip hop and rap music. Thank U and i would appreciate answers to my questions.
I'm not a mobile DJ so I can't really speak on how well it would perform outside. It feels pretty sturdy. As far as its longevity, I haven't had it long enough to say. So far so good. The 1200 is still the table with a reputation for taking abuse. For Hip-Hop style scratching and blending, I believe the T60 is fine. I prefer it over the 1200s I owned years back; the straight tonearm simply *does not* budge, and that's why my cheap, entry-level Shure cart.
Nice video. T.60 is a good choice of deck if you just want to have a good time or if you want to take your djing more professional. Also thanks for checking out my video.
nice man, i getting more and more convinced to go digital since i really don't own records and my cd count surpasses vinyl. thanks for doing this comparison.
do you have too set cue points on the c.314 or does it act as a turntable I just ordered the c.324 just wanted to know.Help a brother out .Nice cuts by the way keep doing your thang family!!!!
Peace. I just checked out Stanton's page on the c324 and it seems to be identical to the c314 except slot-loading. No need to set cue points; it's just like a turntable. I don't know how much the c324 set you back, but I know my c314s were only $300 and I'm lovin' them. Check out some of my other videos where I do a little more intense cutting on them, particularly the c314 scratch demo and maybe the Payback routine.
So you can drag and baby scratch and repeat, no juggling? 1200s are still king. Try doing a battle routine and see what happens. You better praise Allah brings you cleaner cuts and you might start skipping a beat. No offense I'm not trying to shit on you mang but if this was primo or Qbert or someone then I might believe but this video if an epic fail to prove these are better turntables. Thank you, one.
If you're not into my style, which is admittedly and intentionally old school then search for a demo of the T60 where juggling does take place. "Stanton T60s Scratching and Mixing Demo" has what you want. And for the record, I owned 1200s in the past and these skip *less*, even with my cheap cart. As for Primo-level cuts, I don't know why you think I couldn't pull those off on these . . . or any other table really.
yea, u went off fool. DJ Screw used to wreck'd like dat.

Vinyl will always take presidence over cdj's
especially with programs like finalscratch, and torque.
You can do everything with vinyl that you can with cdjs, and mixers/computer programs make it easier to loop and track.
all that, plus better sound quality, and the ability to access all types of music form.

I'm looking to upgrade to a ST8-150 whenever the opportunity arises. Or maybe something from Vestax; I'm leaning more toward the 150.
qahtani 3 years ago
i like those new turntables like vestax and stanton, i think they have much better Price/Feature Ratio, but i went with the 1200 used cause it looks sooo classic. as a 2nd one i probably will go with numark or smth else. cool music/scratching, inspired me

so that Stanton t60 is good!!!!
wick909 3 years ago
How is the Stanton turntable compared to Technics in terms of robustness?
kumbo 3 years ago
I've had it since February so far with no problems. However, if I get a chance to upgrade I'm not looking at a 1200 but a Stanton ST-150.
qahtani 3 years ago
So do you notice any artifacting when you backspin on the cd deck?
kumbo 3 years ago
Only if you have say, key lock on at an extreme pitch and/or with multiple effects on.
qahtani 3 years ago
yo, what track is that? I always wanted to know!
kumbo 3 years ago
"Bounce, Rock, Skate" by Vaughn Mason and Crew.

Respekt!

Really nice scratching!
My 500 system (that comes with the t.60) allways jumps out...
So will a new cartridge fix that?
How much pressure do you use with the Shure?
Thx for reply!
4NoYzE 3 years ago

2:30 waht song is that? :D
props for the video btw. i'm thinking of getting them Stanton T60's :)

I did a whole mix of Turkish funk and psychedelic rock like this that you can find on my web page.

good work man, nice record selection too.. but i've heard that the t60's might lack torque and seem to be a bit underpowered (not responsive enough) for scratching and beat juggling? is that true at all? and how's the torque on this deck? thanx a lot and again, on point scratching man..
prodigaldunn 3 years ago
I'm happy with mine, but keep in mind I grew up with low torque turntables and learned to be light handed very early on.
qahtani 3 years ago
wow man you have awesome scratching skills! Any tips for the beginners who want to learn how to scratch like that? Besides practice lol
badboy021727 3 years ago
pretty much the turntables can be cheap... its the man that controls the turntable that speaks lyrically. its based upon the dj not the equipment mostly. alqahtani can be successful in all feilds the costly and the basics. great job my freind. :)

hey qahtani, nice work! i own two t.60's and am very pleased with them. only thing i plan on changing is probably getting some better slipmats or maybe just throw some waxpaper. but where would you recommend purchasing some better quality slipmats?
d0nbarrios 3 years ago
Turntablelab should have some. I bought some from Guitar Cetner. The Stanton ones really aren't bad if you add wax paper. Google on-line; you could probably make your own mats out of felt.
qahtani 3 years ago
qahtani, I have an important question to ask before I purchase the t60. Is the turntable good enough to use at gigs, and will it last for a while, and also is this a good turntable if I'm going to be mixing and scratching heavily to hip hop and rap music. Thank U and i would appreciate answers to my questions.
ps.nice scratching

I'm not a mobile DJ so I can't really speak on how well it would perform outside. It feels pretty sturdy. As far as its longevity, I haven't had it long enough to say. So far so good. The 1200 is still the table with a reputation for taking abuse. For Hip-Hop style scratching and blending, I believe the T60 is fine. I prefer it over the 1200s I owned years back; the straight tonearm simply *does not* budge, and that's why my cheap, entry-level Shure cart.

Guitar Center. Or look on-line. $299 seems to be the going price nowadays, probably because they're about to introduce the c324s.

nice man, i getting more and more convinced to go digital since i really don't own records and my cd count surpasses vinyl. thanks for doing this comparison.
riosbeatz1 4 years ago
do you have too set cue points on the c.314 or does it act as a turntable I just ordered the c.324 just wanted to know.Help a brother out .Nice cuts by the way keep doing your thang family!!!!
earl2thab 4 years ago
Peace. I just checked out Stanton's page on the c324 and it seems to be identical to the c314 except slot-loading. No need to set cue points; it's just like a turntable. I don't know how much the c324 set you back, but I know my c314s were only $300 and I'm lovin' them. Check out some of my other videos where I do a little more intense cutting on them, particularly the c314 scratch demo and maybe the Payback routine.
qahtani 4 years ago
So you can drag and baby scratch and repeat, no juggling? 1200s are still king. Try doing a battle routine and see what happens. You better praise Allah brings you cleaner cuts and you might start skipping a beat. No offense I'm not trying to shit on you mang but if this was primo or Qbert or someone then I might believe but this video if an epic fail to prove these are better turntables. Thank you, one.
blankoner12 4 years ago
If you're not into my style, which is admittedly and intentionally old school then search for a demo of the T60 where juggling does take place. "Stanton T60s Scratching and Mixing Demo" has what you want. And for the record, I owned 1200s in the past and these skip *less*, even with my cheap cart. As for Primo-level cuts, I don't know why you think I couldn't pull those off on these . . . or any other table really.
