I was in Junior High back in 1978. The girls were cute back then. I love the long hair on both the girls and the boys. It was a cool time to be a kid.
This was done by two sophomore film students. They financed it on their own and it did see some distribution. The opening is a spoof of the then popular TV show Room 222. You can see that on You Tube and compare.
What's incredible is finding this on the net! I watched this little movie in a film class in High School in 1981! I didn't remember it was filmed in Van Nuys, about 20 miles from Simi Valley, where I grew up and went to H.S.
Oh shoot, the tone was so woofy I really couldn't tell; the end is the only place that sounds guitar-like. Fusion guitarists abounded back then so I guess it makes more sense...
This is NOT the "inspiration" for Grease and A Chorus Line. To say that is disrespecting one of Broadway's greatest shows (A Chorus Line) and one of Broadway's most popular shows (Grease). Grease was created in 1971 as a stage play then turned into a musical by 1973. A Chorus Line was thought up by Michael Bennet in 1974. Both of these events happened long before some crappy movie musical was ever created. Don't even think about saying that this abomination to theater is the "inspiration".
I totally remember this movie. I was so excited about this when it came out. I doubt seriously it was the inspiration for anything! But it brings back memories:) I thought about it as I was watching my daughter watch High School Musical. I wonder if that will seem as dorky to her as this does to us now...
wow paula is women that will never age haha she still looks the same just the hair styles have changed omg she is one person if you look back at old pictures you will kno who it is right off the bat Paula is one lucky women she is gorgeous and will always be gorgeous!!! GO PAULA GO PAULA GO GO GO PAULA!!!
I started 7th grade in 1978 and I don't remember it being this dorky. This made me want to barf. I thought we were cooler than that back then. I guess not.Maybe cuz I was a dork like them I just didn't realize it. Dorkiness denial! I feel old!
how did i miss this movie back in the day? looks like one i would have loved.. and then watched later and said OOO MMM GGG HOW did i watch this HORRIBLE movie!! hehe
i know!! AND she doesn't really look different if you compare her video here to dance like theres no tomorrow you'll tell right when you see it that it's paula... she has the same face.. and that would be awesome if she still looked like that when she was like, a senior walking down the street... lol
A lot of these kids seem to have anger management problems; too many of them are knocking people or books to the ground. I bet Nomi Malone would have fit in there.
ohh i thought you were talking about in the 21st century lol .. and no paula doesn't have anger management problems if that's what you are gonna comment back.. if you ever will reply..
I love it when I find rare gems such as this, where badness is pushed to the level at which it blurs into timeless genius. Whoever made this deserves a place in the pantheon of bad film-makers, alongside Dr. Zee Lo and those responsible for 'The Evil Brain From Outer Space'.

That baritone solo at 1:37 just blew my mind.
JGRtheRed 2 years ago
That's actually a tenor solo before 1:37, and beyond that for a couple of seconds is an electric guitar.

THis is the best teenage flick ever made, considering there was no budget, and non union actors.
All the actors were staff and students.
It is incredible, but it doesnt pre date Grease which was in 1977.\
I give this low budget movie, done in less then a few months, top ratings. The producers must be a wiz kid.
Excellent,
I love it
Incredible
the singing, the dancing, top rate, the acting was good considering...
