  • A Chair ha? U great!

  • I like it, good idea to learn before get the realone....

  • i`m bored

  • Looks like a good way to learn with out getting killed,

  • Awsome!!

  • @ degree777 . AMA.com academy of model aeronautics to apply for a AMA card to fly at local airfield or clubs not needed if your just gonna fly at home AMA membership is for insurance reasons for clubs and fields

  • i was told by my local hobby shop that i need a license. just to learn how to fly one of these. Any idea where i can apply for a license?

  • wicked mate

  • Nice set up, like sitting in a real cockpit, only difference its not a full enclosed cockpit with instruments.

  • Pretty sure I'd spill my tea!

  • This is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever seen. How is this teaching you anything about hovering a helicopter? A computer simulator is a MUCH more accurate and effective tool for teaching would-be pilots how to hover. This thing is the product of a fucking retard.

  • learn to fly before recording it and say hey im the best in the world and i can teach you how to sit down

  • Not gonna lie... I'm a halfway decent r/c heli pilot but this would definitely result in a crash for me to try it. I saw another video of yours and it makes 100% perfect sense why this device exists. It's freaking genius. Practice from 3rd person perspective before you get into the real thing. Great idea.

  • *Crash*

  • Fuck you

  • Comment removed

  • is this video about fried chicken?

  • man that landing gear is cheatin!!

  • lol the pilot is just...

  • Holy shit that flies so high *sarcasm*

  • echt ne coole sache

  • ...but your still on the ground!

  • you really have brain problem rainman

  • i don't know whether I should be a helicopter driver, are there a lot of calculations invovled when flying one?

  • thats sad

  • lets strap a baby to it FLYING BABY!!!:D

  • what a cool transmitter......... :)

  • i saw this at oshkosh. :)

  • I need help, my helicopter keeps turning left. not spinning but it keeps going in circles plz help

  • Did this back in 90 and was able to hold a stable hover and do 360 degree pedal turns with all controls in a real heli. Don't go try to fly a real one until you can hold

a stable hover with the model. After about 25 hours of practice you should be good to go. A Hughes 300 should be used instead of an R22 for the first flights because it's more forgiving.

  • nice vid man :)

you can just sit nicely and fly hard 3d XD

  • I just crashed mine =[

    but it was fun

  • you just need an FPV and you will be all set.

  • @technoweedus we had a lot of fun flying via FPV, you can find one of those videos we posted here "remote rooftop landing" and also on our website

  • the best coment ever

  • Most modern RC pilots would not be able to fly without a gyro. Myself included. So we forget just how difficult it can be to just hover.

Have you considered putting a gyro on the heli and connecting (wireless) it to a large servo to rotate or tilt the chair so the student feels the torque? Seat of the pants and all.

  • i hop e you all know terma liek collective and torque. if you don't know one of the two ur not even close to worthy to fly a helicopter.

  • left the ground. Raise the collective one small increment then correct any yaw with the pedals. Raise the collective another small increment then correct for any more yaw. Keep on doing that and you will be airborne before you know it. To land, do the exact same thing, only reduce the collective then correct for yaw then repeat. Do not relax until the collective is on the down stop. This will help you develop good pedal control. I hope all my ramblings help !.

  • turbine helicopters the rotor speed is set by fully opening the throttle before the collective is lifted, and the throttle remains fully open throughout the flight. Rotor speed is maintained by an electronic speed governor. One observation is that you are dumping the collective to land. This is not good practice. Neither is yanking the collective up to take off. The rule to take on board is that as soon as the collective is raised from the down stop, you ARE flying, even if you have not

  • The heli chair is a great idea. It would easier if the rotor rotational speed was constant though. I know that you cannot achieve this too easily, but the "idle-up" function gets you close to it. Idle-up sets a minimum speed for the throttle, and hence the rotors. The minimum speed should be set quite high, and close to the normal in flight rotor speed. In that way the rotor speed does not decay so much when you take collective pitch off. In most piston engined helicopters and in all

  • now put a camera and a small screen tv and now you can learn to drive a "real" heli for a smaller price.

  • I got too much time on my hands!, LOL nice.

  • I like the training gear legs with the rotating top.

On a real heli I'm fairly sure the throttle is just set for flight and left that way, actual power is controlled by the rotor speed governer, so when you pull in the collective it automatically ramps up the throttle. Manual throttle is just too tricky.

  • @venquessa

Actually it is not that hard how to do on "real" helicopters and knowing what the torque effect will be is MUCH better than trying to recover from what just happened...

Another thing that is difficult for new pilots is to get used to the delay lag between a control input and the actual movement of the "body" of the helicopter, which is not the same as the movement of the rotor disc...

  • далбаёб

  • waste of time might as well just use the transmitter, the chair looks crap dont it......

  • nothing is a waste of time if you enjoy what you do.

  • @edwin4759 Very true

  • @xxXstavrosXxx I don't think I would be using one of these anytime soon, but the idea is that it KINDA simulates flying a real helicopter.

  • That's all well and true but it's nothing like flying the real thing. :-)

  • Wow how Stupid is this deal ..Waste of time and money...

  • it's just a hobby

  • freak

  • I can see some use for this and then go on to seat of the pants hovering in a real copter.

  • with my helicopter my gyro 520 controls the tail ...

  • OK. I want to build one of these and put a wireless camera on the helicopter connected to a headset. Full simulation mwah ha ha.

We have mode one here in Oz and I hate the fact that the pan controls are separated.

  • why make something like this just to learn to hover though? i was hovering in 2hrs tail in .Maybe it just me missing the point mate sorry

  • cant see how this would work. when your sat in the helicopter the orientation never changes . but with an rc helli it changes all the time. so what heppens when your nose in and inverted ????

  • why would you be nose in and inverted when you're learning to hover. number one lesson when learning to fly is in tail rotor control. don't move on to other tasks until you can keep the tail oriented.

  • @helichair Then the whole point in this chair is what then? You need to learn how to hover nose in with r/c helis. This chair would be completely usless for anything else because once you learn on one heli it's the same for any heli there after.

  • @amxen1 Then you buy sensors, actuators and plans to extend the chair so it follows the orientation of the model as it moves :D fasten your seatbelt first!

  • thats sweet

  • cool

  • i bet this thing does not have a gyro

  • i get disheartened reading comments on youtube sometimes. Yeah, an RC helicopter is a lot easier to fly then a full scale, becausee you can see the entire aircraft, they have gyros, a higher headspeed, a solid rotor system, and a flybar, all in all, theyre a hell of a lot more stable then a real aircraft, the system in this vid the guy isnt trying to count it as real hours, but its GOOD PRACTICE.. I flew RC helicopters for 10 years, and hovered rock solid stable, my 2nd time in a fullscale.

  • Is the left hand throttle?

  • Fuckin aweesome!Great idea!

  • i call this the live simulator..... no lives are at stake here. only cheap helicopter. much cheaper then going to aviation school.

  • If he wants to fly a real heli, he still has to meet the federal minimum hours of experience. Have you seen how well this training aid helps student pilots? This guy was hovering an R22 on his "first lesson". Anything that helps someone become a better pilot is a good thing in my mind.

  • i agree with you but you still have to agree with me too... lolz

  • Nope, I don't have to. You still have to get trained to fly the real thing. Anything that makes it easier for pilots to get certified is a good thing, not a bad thing. The more pilots there are, the better off the aviation industry will be.

  • i thought i just agreed with you... if u think what i commented wasn't apporopraite then it's your prerrogative and i respect it.

  • Id be willing to bet that my rc helis are worth more than some of the people i know"s lives haha.

  • how much? hahahha.... see it's not about how much ur helis worth. it's all about the fun it gives you. u may have the most expensive but crash it on the first flight... so i'd rather have my cheap one and fly it over and over gimme such great fun.... so wou;ld u still bet? hahahahah

  • you're right.....its not the price that counts.......

  • worthless people or expensive awesome hobby?

  • thats sick man id play on that all day

  • Tell me there's no gyro on that bird!?!?!?

  • Real helicopters don't have gyros, if you look up any real in cockpit videos they have right yaw in all the time, on take off. but it fades away in forward flight.

  • are u stupid the tail totor is desoigned to keep the heli stable from spinning and when centered it keeps the heli centered dont judge me on this as i have flown in a helicopter before and they took me threw what they do

  • Your a fucking idiot, I was stating that a real helicopter does not have a gyro, other than a rc helicopter having one.

  • u didnt say that u said real helis dont have a gyro so they have right yaw on while taking off which they dont the tail rotor is setup to always keep the heli stable and there is no need to get angry about it i was just telling you a fact

  • It's basically 2 gas buttons, one for the tail rotor and one for the main motor which makes sense. Increase tail to turn nose right, decrease to turn left. HARD STUFF..... Imagine taking off you foot on the tail rotor gas button and the helicopter starts spinning maddly.... doom!!!

  • goood nice funyy

  • i would rather have my TX in a real helikopter, mutch easier:D

  • wow....imagine that w/a FPV TREX heli...I think that would be PURE SEX!

  • Nice idea!!

  • Pra ficar foda, tem que ligar essa cadeira ao

Real Flight que aí o risco é zero :)

  • Superb idea, a darn sight cheaper than real heli lessons and way cheaper to crash if it all goes wrong! Well thought out dude!

  • if he really had it on acdtual helicopter stick mode. that would be a threat to the aviation education. it can be called the live simulator..

  • Nice video this thing looks really fun!

  • Nice vid. have you seen the guy that can dance with his helicopter

  • Are you talking about Alan Szabo? if you are, he's the best RC heli Pilot ou there!!

  • not the best i think but one of the best

  • what a brilliant concept nice!

  • You would be better off having fixed trainer legs, it would be less dis-orientating when you in the air with the legs not spinning the opposite direction. I learnt with fixed, much better. The helicopter would also fly better as the weight of the legs would be static. Great device though, I would live to try it.

  • lol thats gotta be a hit out at the field :D

  • Decola com essa porra caralhooooooooooooo!

  • concordo hauhuahuaha

O cara não decola a porra do avião

    lol

  • wow, how much does it cost ?

  • These things are so expensive and hard to fly and the parts are soooo delicate. If you crash it, which you will do as a part of learning, its get sooo expensive and frustrating why bother. You just end up with junk really...

  • Been flying mine for over two and it's not even close to junk. Anything worth doing takes time to learn. So you shouldn't just blab about something you obviously no nothing about.

  • fly circuits around you! that would be impressive.

  • Ok now somone was thinkin. Cause we cant have people that cant fly Over my house ya know! LOL

  • thats ssooo cool!!! would make flying alot more engaging and probly easier to show a beginner how to fly with that, being that u can easily touch the controles for them

  • i want one :C

  • Great idea..!

  • A real life simultor ^_^ cool

  • Why not 'mechanically' (i.e. pulley wires) link the full size controls to the transmitter's existing sticks (maybe gearing the movement) - then anyone can simply clamp in their favourite transmitter and go?

  • cool idea...

  • if that is wanking off then you must go about it in a very strange way

  • lmfao

  • will it pick up a cat lol

  • my dad hooked up the controler to a playstation controllar. its so kool

  • lol , if that guy could fly it with a tranny he could do it with that contraption

  • nice try and creative, but you can't learn to fly rc heli. An RC Heli simulator on your PC with a transmitter-like joystick is best if you want to improve your hands-eye coordination skills especially when the heli is facing you. I learnt that way and still crashed a couple of times with the real thing LOL

  • The helichair is geared to assist you in learning to fly real 1:1 scale helis. the rc heli is used but the controls are similar to the ones in a real heli. It's not made to learn to fly rc's

  • I LOVE how the heli can swivel on that beginners-landing-gear...

That way you can basically stabilize it BEFORE it leaves the ground, not after.

I'm not an RC-pilot, but loved the video...

  • nice ;)

  • wasted my 5 minutes.

  • ya this is so dumb lern to fly it the normal way first

  • at $300+ an hour yeah, go try it. This looks great.

  • this is good but you really learn how to fly through the feelings in the seat of ur pants etc. it can help but wont take away flight training

  • thats a big knob your holding between your legs you knob

  • why even bother commenting

  • because we can

  • the comment "why even bother commenting" was aimed at lyclycsms's comment: wasted my five minutes

  • I'm speechless, and not in the good way either

  • yeah

  • where can I get one of those awsome!!

  • pinapple boy, why dont u enter a search proxy for a REAL HELICOPTER?

  • because i didnt expect people to post videos of fake ones.

  • I'd have liked to have seen a real helicopter crash with you (pineappleboy1) in it. I guess we just don't always get what we want? Asshole.

  • the freedom fighters would of blown you ass sky high b4 you even got of the ground.. at lest give us some crazy flying and i might be impressed

  • This teaches you how to fly, with the real controls not the rc type. Cheers. Great trainer :)

  • Why bother. Flying Heli via standard transmitter is more fun. This is crap.

  • increase you expodential input. that is geekness at its best!!!

  • Great!

  • thats sad

  • moronish

  • thats pretty cool, i want one! :)

  • Hey BoredSkydiver,

Hope your chute doesn't open your next jump! Fucking asshole...

  • It's no wonder why people who fly R/C helicopters get so much stick, people like you lower them close to the realms of geeks.

    This video is terrible....

  • cool

  • your a fuckwit!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • words cant describe! YOUR A TWIT! funnyest shit ive seen in ages. if u were a piolet people would want their money back, they could walk faster than u could fly! DICKHEAD!!

  • STFU

  • stfu,thats right!

  • that looks like the havoc heli!

  • if you got rid of that poxy pivot in the middle of the training UC, you might actualy get it of the ground quicker

  • I built a similar chair for a video game once but that had a screen in front (flight sim). I think flying in the mode shown would be difficult as the 'pilot' wouldn't gain correct orientation/spacial awareness, being out of the machine. Yes, I used to fly rotary (Gazelle) but ran out of cash thanks to my ex-wife :o/

  • I like what you did but I think people may get the wrong idea.

  • Can you fucking fly the damn thing already ? boring video...

  • filha da puta tu nao decola!?

  • Ill never get my 4:21 back.

  • all i see here is an accident waiting to hapen, seriously i dont think this is such a good idea, thats why there's simulators so you dont hurt anybody, this doesnt look safe at all,but thats just my opinion,no pun intended

  • seriously, you didnt think this was a full-size heli did you??!! lol. its just a small model.

  • Way too long and like watching paint dry.

The problem with 99% of YouTube clips is they go dry fast. Could have been done in one minute max.

  • Wish I had that rig for my flight simulatator..

  • Cool looking device but i fly my model helicopter with my fingers and thumbs on the sticks of my futaba 9 C Super.

  • Your fingers and thumbs on your futaba? You oughta upload that to YouTube... lol

  • why u spend most the time on the ground??

  • As an experienced helicopter flight instructor, I have to say that out of every student I've ever taught, the ones who have flown R/C helicopters have always spent the least amount of $flighttime learning to hover. They seem to already have their brains "wired" for pendular action, sort of like when you learned how to ride a bicycle.
