The trick to not getting hit is making yourself visible. Try some hi-viz riding gear, you'll be surprised at how it grabs the cager's attention. You can also try auxiliary lighting or headlight modulator.
As for the bike, in the range you're looking at your best bet would probably be an FJR. A little less sporty than the Bandit but a great sport tourer.
What's with the body wax? Are you and that chick into S&M or what ? A guy I worked with had it done ( he was like Chita , Tarzan's chimp ) Complained how painful it was. He was changing near me a few months later...back to being to being Magilla Gorilla. When I asked him how? "It grows back"." Then frigin shave the coat off then YA KNUCKLE HEAD !!
@DarylMakk : Ya I understand ...explain to me once again why the BIG GUY UP STAIRS made us to think with our little brain , in our pants and not the one on our shoulders ?
How about Royal Enfield ? Vespa ? The sport bike selection is getting smaller every year . Yamaha 1300 ( nice but make sure it has had the head mod (#1 exhaust valve issues ) 1400 Kaw nice but so bloody fast . No more Buell , Ducati (crazy ) BMW makes a few nice bikes but too costly . I don't think Susuki makes a S/T at all .
@MrJujitsu62 Actually Suzuki does make a sport tourer which is the Bandit SEA. The same bike I used for the 2010 season. Great bang for the buck but I wish to try something new.
@DarylMakk : You are right ; I had to look it up . They look pretty good but all three Suzuki/ Kawasaki & Yamaha are carbon copies of eachother by the looks of it . So much for creativity . NOT . At least the Honda ( all though boring ) has a nice shape to it and looks rider friendly . Too bad they are so over priced as are all Honda bikes . Look close at the BMW ( sometimes dealer issues ...where ) but make a sweet ride .
