    There is a replacement for displacement in street cars.. it's called making use of physics through technology and engineering

    The more air/fuel you can put into a motor during a combustion cycle, the more power it will generate. Displacement reflects the amount of air that will be pulled through the motor in one combustion cycle... so why not add boost? It's just forcing more air into the combustion chambers, essentially making the motor perform like it's a larger CID

    I'm stupid? I just explained to you how displacement was measured. It's not the physical size of the motor block you moron. I'm telling you, it is the volume of air that is displaced in the motor in one combustion cycle @ STP (standard temperature and pressure). Turbos/superchargers do not have any effect on that rating as forced induction doesn't operate under STP conditions. They can certainly alter the amount of air/fuel that the motor consumes though... hence their purpose!

  • @xxMBH427xx I don't mean to be a dick, because you're essentially right. But STP doesn't have anything to do with volume (displacement). That's a hard measurement that only changes with machine work. The volume would be the same in a vacuum. I believe you'd be better off referencing STP in a VE (Volumentric Efficiency) argument. Which, with forced induction, is probably the better argument to be having.

    I'm glad you could shed some light on the subject, as I this is just things that I've read - I'm not an engineer or anything, and in fact I went to school for biology.

    I was under the assumption that it would need to be STP conditions, since the volume measured is air (again, this is just what I've read). I also was just trying to break down the basics of measuring displacement in an n/a motor, so hopefully I didn't do too terrible of a job at it

  • BPU- basic perfromance upgrades, cobra owners that usually are average that keep the stock supercharger do these mods, ported blower, upper and lower pullies, full exhaust, intake, tune. upper pulley exhaust/itnake and a tune id good for 460rwhp. an average cobra has about 480rwhp

  • actually, cobras weigh a little more than 100lbs less than a GTO. And despite being rated at 390 flywheel hp, they routinely put down 365rwhp or more on a dynojet (no modifications, conventional oil, i'm talking 100% stock). Highest stock dyno I've seen is 392rwhp.

    GTO's put down what? 350rwhp on a dynojet? (honest question) I believe its around 345-350, but could be wrong.

  • No 2002 SVT Cobra??? Indeed there is a 2002 SVT Cobra, it isn't supercharged like the 2003-04, but Ford did re-produce the Mustang Cobra in 1993 through todays models... I think the 2002 Cobra is rated at around 320hp or so. and the 03-04 is 390hp.

  • wow both nice cars... I have three brothers, one has the 2005 ls2 gto, one has a 2002 cobra svt and the other has a 2003 audi A6 2.7T dual turboed.... When we took them all to the track along with my dads 2002 camaro z28 ls1 the A6 won every time off the start but the gto pulled away at about the 1/8 of a mile... I will be gettin a 2002 mustang gt soon so we will see what that can do!!! Nice video

  • cobras come stock with everthing ready to go the rear end also. a stock GT u have to change rear ends and everything else when u put sc on it. i rather jsut get a 300shot and spray tha shit outta whatever i race. then again i want that noise and rumble with a s/c on my gt. and KB s/c are high as hell. man they had a GT500 motor for $14,000 in a mustang book lmao. swear!!!

  • The Gt's and Cobra's came with 8.8inch reign gears. Sooo really you don't need to change anything. If you meant a higher rear gear, then yes supercharging a mod motor with a lower rear gear would definitely benefit
