ok so i got myself a 4 pin padlock and was able to get all pins to lock up but it wouldnt turn, but as it was a good brand (master locks) i thought maybe there was some kind of hidden safety (although the pins werent spool pins or anything). i got a cheap tri circle padlock, with 6 pins, but have the same trouble, all the pins lock up but it still wont turn. any ideas what im doing wrong?

@punkd76 I think ure forcing the pins UP. remember that each pins has its own height, so maybe ure pushing up to much. be delicate and try different amounts of pressure on the tensionwrench. normally ppl advise to do the same amout of tension as you would by turning the key. I think thats in most cases even too much !

try and test, experiment and just keep trying :P

else throw the fucking locks out and try some new one.

I just got Southord Jackknife pick, I'm trying to pick Blossom No. 77-38 padlock, I'm sure that I pushed all the pins but it's not opening. The padlock has a spring, so when you turn the key, if you let go, the plug automatically returns to it's original position. Do I need to push down the U part of the padlock down while picking, cause it also has a spring, so when I push it down it comes back up, or it's not that importaint? Tnx.

you say to find out whether a pin is a security pin or not you tell by how much it "gives". but if, say, the security pin is in the middle, and its surrounded by 2 unlocked pins and 2 locked pins, how is it possible to tell how much it gives when the two locked pins are blocking any "give" the security pin might give you?
