@inbredagogo @morningbirdfeeder Firemen always "dress out" whenever they are called to a scene to include their helmets.They are usually the first responders to any kind of emergency (not just fires) because they have trained paramedics assigned to the Fire Department. They usually respond faster than any ambulance and you want them there in a medical emargency. Some fire departments have personnel trained as "rescue swimmers" as well.

That's a very sad thing that happened to the victim, but what's even sadder is this guy posing as a fireman complete with a Fire Chief's helmet when there is no fire.

No you are wrong. The Chief wanted everyone to know who he was! He works for a small fire department in Southern California that has one Station and protects 13,000 people. My Department has over 100 stations and protects over 3 million people and our Chiefs do not wear their helmets on Medical Aid incidents. I have no idea where you are getting you're information, but you are not correct. There is no point for this guy to be wearing a fire helmet at a shark attack.
