Well, the Sony has a business plan. They don`t release consoles often so you can count on your device that it will last longer and will be able to play your media and games.

Currently it is 5 yrs. According to this data the next one will come out in the end of 2012.

However I heard rumours that they will extend the number of service years to 10 yrs. IMO from the PS4.
