Why is it that all the home-made videos I see on setting up these Hubba tents no one sets the cross pole on top of the main pole - like it says to do in the instructions AND on the MSR video?
I've got the same tent. I just climed 4500 ft . I was happy with it. Id like something a little more waterproof and for the winter, but i think it will do.
odd question i know but dooing the ten tors we are issued vango tempest tents, the ground sheet lets in water if the ground is wet dos this happen with the standard fixed ground sheet on this tent.
I've had a hubba for a couple of years now, it works great. I've taken it on Motorcycle adventures and hiking adventures. There isn't much room inside, but for one person and a minimal amount of stuff it's just fine. Cheers mate!
Hows the tent of water proofness? Did you have to seam seal it or did the factory do that? Nice demo of the tent. Wouldn't mind having one myself if they were cheaper.
How would this tent compare to the Big Agnes Copper Spy UL? That tent has a tapered dimension giving you more shoulder space and a large vestibule in the entry way and a small one on the reverse side (with access from inside the tent). I was looking at this tent and the Hubba HP for a while now until I came across the Big Agnes. Any suggestions?
I wish all tents would come with a fly which is already attached to the inner. I love my dragonfly for that... so quickly to set up. But now I'm looking for a small tent for the solo trips but I cant freaking decide which one to get... This one or the Vaude Power Lizard which is UL and looks nice but hasnt been tested yet...
just so you know it is possible to use this tent with a 'footprint' sold extra. basically a bathtub type ground sheet that you use with just the top fly. No good for when the mossies are biting though, but superlight....Personally I like to hide from the bugs and when cold the inner provides a bit extra warmth
I don't quite understand - so you could hook up the poles to the footprint and the top fly as well ? But doesn't matter, I'll see myself because I just bought the hubba hp yesterday night (170£ incl footprint) Should be a good choice i guess.
I have always worries about those pole angles. has anyone had any issues with where the pole comes across the top and Y's off to go to the corners of the tent. they just look flimsy.
@streetpunk99 yes they may look weak but they are pretty tough...dont know of any thru's that have had a pole come out, bend or snap. In one camp on the PCT last year there was 3 of us with Hubbas!.....I may be trying a Gossamer gear this year now too 'The One'..
thats interesting, you wouldnt think that where the three poles meet would be very strong but i guess once its all together it ties in strong enough with the rest of the tent to not be an issue. Interesing design too, anyone know why they go with that stile of center pole?
Thanks for the review. Have been looking at this to replace my Eureka. I like the quality, free standing and the poles. Am worried that is is narrow. May get the 2 man version in the Huba Huba HP. I think it is nearly as light and much of the netting is replaced with fabic which should be warmer.
Thats the nice thing about a free-standing tent. It allows you to pick it up, invert it, and let any water out. Ive slept through an all-night rain in one of these and they work great.
This is an amazing tent, just buy one and recently upload one video. Excelent for backpacking trough rain forests here in southern Chile in South America.
The Hubba is well made solo tent, my Hubba (HumbleOutdoors $225) is an awesome tent. It is far superior to a Bivy.. it keeps me dry!

Do they like the "under the pole" set up better?
Did they just not read the instructions?
Does it not make a difference?
Just curious.

That music made for the most compelling tent-pitching I've seen.

I like the new yellow rainfly allot better. It will be good for stealth camping in the fall when the leaves change.

@Fr4nkWh1te The Hilleberg Akto is probably one of the best solo tents... also one of the more expensive

@zaoisaprettycoolband Of the Akto is good, it's proven itself a thousand times - but its slowly getting a bit outdated.

@Fr4nkWh1te So if you were to choose a solo tent tomorrow which would it be?

2 man is heavier! maybe a pound more...possibly warmer and more comfortable yes. I reckon the 1 man is fine...I am 5foot 9.
Got snowed in for 32 hours in North Cascades on my last trip...tent was great. No condensation or leaks...although I was nestled under some pines
andyactive 2 years ago
Nice little tent. I have the older Hubba Hubba version with the orange fly.

This design sucks! Try putting it up in rain and it will be filled with water before you get a chance to throw the top over...
snowgodxxx 2 years ago
maybe...use a small cloth to mop it out....the design should keep you dry once its set up though
good luck

Not really snowgodxxx
Set up the fly and ground sheet first, then set up the inner tent body.
