@WHChen96 thats not the point stupid... its called engineering .. they are trying to make something for the acomplishment not so they dont have to walk
the process of taking the applied energy and directing it 90 degrees limits the overall output of the motor and decreases the durability, therefore it requires more energy to stay up to par with a more simple of design 'straight' motor. i cant say that im a electronics expert but the application of a 90degree bend doesnt go unaffected when it comes to motor
It looks to be a standard wheelchair motor setup - in which case the right angle gearbox makes for a fairly efficient gearing down from possibly thousands of rpm to a few hundred.
It's been hard to find tires that will fit the bolt pattern on the wheels... if someone can point me in the right direction I'd love get some... The bolt pattern is 4 bolts at 3.5 inches diagonal
@schelenzo Looks lke you got those motors and wheels from a Sunrise Medical quickie P222se. You will need to stick with the same brand so look for S646 wheels. Inorder to make them work you will need to change out the hubs. You dont really have tomany options but what I told you is the best solutions. The chairs are somewhat out of date so you should be able to get a good deal on them not. try looking on ebay or call up a local rehab equipment deal because they might have some laying around.

Hi!
A friend and I are making a segway for engineering school project.
I was wondering wether you know if you could send us the source code :).
Also, if you've got some information on what processor and gyro you've used and where you got them from; I would appreciate it a lot.

right angle motors-bad idea

Why?

less efficient, and less power compared to straight motors

why

false.

A simple 90deg gearing don't take that much energy to turn. You're probably thinking about universal joints.

is it possible to redesign your bolt pattern? or would that tread on Segway's patent?
