@orcastrong U should check out Gallowbraid and Falloch if U like Agalloch. Tracks Id recommend for Gallowbraid are Ashen Eidolen and Oaken Halls of Sorrow (All there is for Gallowbraid is an ep so thats all they have) And for Falloch Beyond Embers of the Earth and The Ghosts that Haunt this path.

This is probably one of the most darkly beautiful black metal songs out there. Pale Folklore as a whole is very cold and bleak, but oddly enough has a sense of warmth about it. Really kinda folk-ish, but still good black metal, atmospheric at times, with a strange type of harsh beauty.

John has said himself he isn't that fond of his own voice. Though I personally think that his vocals are better than most generic black metal vocalists.

As for not liking the voice, for some people it just takes time to get used to it.

I used to know John the singer from this band, he was living with a friend of mine back in the mid 90's. I remember one time we were all hanging out in a graveyard and me and him were talking about The Gathering's "Nighttime Birds" cd because it had just been released.

I'm kind of surprised at how popular his band has become, back in those days all he and his band had were 1 or 2 demos I think.
