sway bar was broken .. end of discussion.. trust me, the builders of these trucks know a thing or two..... granted, not as much as internet couch surfing dirtbags, but they do know something.
damn the end sucks. If that were my truck id work on the stiffness of my shocks. maybe set the ride hight a little lower so it corners better\stiffer but still drops out on jumps. id want that perfect ratio with minimal sacrifice on each area of performance. cornering, woopdees, jumps balance. its all good
These trucks arent great at turning, but they dont really care, cause they make up for it with the pure raw power and great suspension on the straightaways! Let me ask you guys this.... does it really matter what you think is better? Wouldnt you think that the guys who do this and put over 500k to 1 million into just their truck would know whats best? i guess thats why theyre building trucks and youre just sitting commenting on youtube about something you know nothing about.
not suspension just roll caused by suspension... a sway bar is basically a solid bar going from one side of the truck to the other (in the rear) and as the truck leans to one side or the other the bar twists and flexes... counteracting the natural roll of trying to turn with 3 1/2 feet of travel
this particular truck on this particular day had problems -- broken swaybars -- They usually do much better, but you cannot build a truck with 24" rear and 36" front travel that corners like a rally car. Impossible -- the travel over whoops is more important for desert racing.
what?!?!?!?! when did stabilizers affect suspension travel? the jumps are hit straight on, so the suspension would compress equally, the stabilizer would help the car not transfer so much weight in the corners... they seem stupid not to have them.
if he is talking about the torsion/sway bar then it is real dont be a dumbass...watch some more vids of trophy trucks/pro trucks/1450 trucks some/most have it... you will see coming off the rear axle a rod sticking up, its hard to explain but basically there is one on each side connected to a steel rod that flexes and twists trying to keep the vehicle upright with less roll
2wd -- nearly all desert racers are 2wd -- 4x4 drive train with so much wheel travel is expensive and has reliability problems. Driving style of always keeping momentum up in soft stuff keeps 2wd out of trouble, usually.
2... 4 wd is to much... on any type of desert racing the main thing is to finish the race... 4wd causes more tranny problems, on track trucks such as CORR then yes they run 4wd... but SCORE SNORE BITD MORE MDR etc... trophy trucks(except mdr) class 1 and 1450 all are just 2wd
well on short course theres alot more cornering and acceleration and deceleration and in alot of score races theres alot of wide open not that theres no tight stuff but in wide open 100+ 4wd doesnt matter a bit. and also it adds more unsprung weight and more weight period.
hey JWMBIKE14 you should watch some of that trophy truck racing, where they race around a track, then try to tell me you cant slide, and you know what i agree with you its hard to get a truck with almost 4 feet of travel to slide butt if your good at offroading you can do it.
you mean CORR? no its hard to get it to slide if you have 3 1/2 feet of travel
they have sway bars in which keep the truck from rolling, and i didnt say its not faster... truely if you could maintain traction then not drifting would be the fastest way but due to it being on dirt traction is a huge issue so then it is easier to pin it and let it slide... dont say i dont know what im talkign about, we have a 1450 and a jeepspeed
hey JWMBIKE14 your a cocksucker i race trucks, you'll save more time sliding around the turns then chillin and tring mot to flip around them, you wont flip if you get your back wheeles spining, and if your tellin me a trophy truck cant get its back wheeles spining then your one domb fucker
track trucks are a hell of a lot different...they have stiffer suspension with less travel, much lower CG (center of gravity) and the pro trucks are mostly 4wd...the erbound is much slower too...they handle corners a lot better than a dez truck...yes you can drift a truck, my brother races 1450's and i pre run his truck all the time...have a torsion bar also helps stearing a ton!
wow goodjob know it all...most trophy trucks now of days are set up with torsion bars and other techniques of getting rid of the roll, sliding isnt the fastest way around. besides its hard to keep something with (almost) 4 feet of travel to not try and roll (without slidding)
Song is "White Lines" by Grandmaster Flash --- It was seeminly a city anthem, played all the time in San Diego in the early 80s when I lived there, before San Diego became "LA-ified". The extended version of the song is about 8-10 minutes and fun to listen to. thanks
sorry kmyers91, cars arent stupid, but the people that drive them can be pretty fucking ignorant sometimes. If you car has less than i foot of wheel travel, it should be canned for one with 3 feet of wheel travel and an 800 hp motor.

this truck is under powered thats why it almost flips around tight turns it just doesnt have enough torque to spin those wheels

think you got that wrong, there 24 front 36 rear. sway bars dont help straight line too much. but nothing is really hit straight on in this game.
they are 8 into 1 headers, in the order it fires. thats why they sound so weird. greg hollman builds them

What kind of engine is that Alloy truck running? I expected the howl of a V-8, but she sounds like she's running a small-displacement engine.
ozyran 4 years ago
not sure what size but its pretty big just sounds like that because they run zoomy headers on it

sway bars will limit suspension travel, that is how they keep the rig shiny side up

god, these things seriously need some stabalizers at the back, good for straight line deserts, but no cornering.
