  • I loved this America where people could pray on TV!

Our country was founded on biblical principals!

    This why I love Disneyland!

    Happy 56th Birthday! <3

  • @arleneiebeanie People like you, who believe you can only be moral if you're religious, make me sick.

  • Happy 56th Birthday, Disneyland!

  • There was even an astronaut in the parade and that was 14 years before real astronauts went to the Moon!:D

  • Looking at this video and knowing how the park is now it astounding! So different but still just as magical :)

  • 100th like! dont know why i had to address that =\

  • @dragonboatX Some did NOT survive.....or suffered. That's why we needed higher standards, which was then over-done, creating political correctness.

  • U have to remember: back then people thought Indians were bloodthirsty savages that only wanted to kill pioneers, where the reality is that the Indians were quite peaceful, California Indians even more so.

  • Families are racist? Or some peeps ain't used to daddy being around?

  • Just think...now you walk down Mainstreet, smelling the smell of churros, the great looking buildings around you, and the overall wonderful experience. I watch this video and I think, the next time i walk down Mainstreet, I will remember that history walked down this street, and 50 years of history has happened here. So I will appreciate much more than I already have since the last time I went there. So much has happened, yet so much has grown.

  • 3:42 I want that space suit

  • I'm booking a surprise for my family I did my research at bestvaluethemeparks (.) com

  • @anaheimrocker I wish i could go every month!

I live in Wales, so i've never been to the California one before, but i've been to the one in Florida 3 times and love it there! <3

  • Happy 55th Birthday Disneyland ºoº

  • As wonderful as this place is I have to wonder when they first allowed African Americans in? Whites didn't even want blacks drinking from the same water foundation as them so I'd have to assume they were definitely unwelcomed. Anyone know?

  • @redhibernation It's unlikely there was any segregation. This is in Orange County, there simply isn't a high black population there, even today. At any rate in 1964 the Civil Rights Act was passed that outlawed segregation.

  • @Hatterific yes it is true. However, if look very carefully into the crowd, there were some blacks there.

  • @redhibernation So after some research, Disneyland was never segregated, or refused black people entrance. Like I said, this is Orange County CA, not some place in the south.

  • 1:49 LMAO!! couldn't get real Natives to appear. Oh the 50's. There were plenty of Natives in Los Angeles during that time.

  • @anaheimrocker Aahh, thats cool :)

  • @anaheimrocker Lucky, you have a year pass?

  • Many people thought Disney was nuts when he was designing Disneyland.

  • Dat's right, REDSKINS, an' da had "Darkies" back den to

  • Wow...... "Red skins" huh???

  • Bob Cummings sounds like an autioneer, LOL.

  • I am shocked that there is not an indian casino built at frontier land!!!!! God bless Disney!!!!

  • i never get tired og going ive been there 5 times going for my 6 in 67 days! this has changed so much!

  • what happend to the number 2?

  • "And here from the 1960s are a real family of hippies..". that would have freaked these 1950s folks out

  • @Hauser43 Yes, great 50's, God-fearing, Indian-killing, wholesome-ness. That's what the hypocrites on part 2 believe.

  • Tinkerbell!

  • Is that Jed Clampet from the Beverly Hillbillies with Davy Crockett?

  • Yes, he was named Buddy Ebsen.

  • Ebsen played Crockett's pal, George Russell, and then in the 1970s, he was the titular protagonist in the TV crime show, "Barnaby Jones". In the 1980s, Ebsen was the narrator for the Disney Channel miniseries called "The Disney Family Album".

  • what was da guy name that made it

  • Walt Disney

  • Also Fronteirland looked so much more vast back then like a real wildereness

  • Amazing how times change. Peta would expload on "ole Betsy" these days

  • if you can dream it you can do it

to all who come to this happy place, welcome just some walt disney quotes

    ju

  • Man i would love to see this in colour

  • me too, sad they didnt have colour cameras back then

  • they did have color cameras but I don't think ABC broadcast in color yet because not enough people had color TVs so no point in broadcasting in color

  • I thought they did... isn't there some colour footage from way before this, of Walt talking about the seven dwarfs?

  • ha i have looked everywhere to find the full opening day show. thanks for providing, its interesting

  • gee, Frontier Land and Fess Parker sure is racist!

  • well, it was the 50's

    :]

  • Mr Muffle12 this parade is way over 50 years ago, so just think a little it was a big thing at the time. Disneyland was the first permanent amusement park in the western world, So it was a big thing in those days. Think a little before you criticise.

  • Um, places such as Steeplechase and Dreamland and those European entertainment gardens weren't meant to be permanent? lol

  • i love walt he is so amazing!!!!!!!

for all that come to this happy place... welcome;)

  • freedog, you are AWESOME for putting this on here; i just love it

  • yes walt would be so happy if he knew how much his park has progressed over these years.

  • but, like they said, it was amazing for its time. It shows you how much we have advanced in 50 years!

  • this parade is boring i like today with music on float

  • I agree, today the parades are super cool though.

  • This is 1955, I suppose you think they have cell phones? gosh, this is impressive, I think this is impressive still!

  • The world sure was different before political correctness kicked in.

  • lol, what do you mean?

  • Well, for starters, they wouldn't be referring to the Indians as "Red Skins" today XD

  • well what did u expect...??? it was when it first started..

  • Disneyland first Parade look like crap, but tadoy disney's parades is soooooooo much better. Walt would be so please to see it.

  • for its time, it was pretty cool; and you're right, walt would be very impressed with today's version

  • no its not u are crap

  • uh...it was the 50's.

    that is pretty damn impressive.

    Geeze.
