We Indians are building the Tejas to also start our own aviation industry. We are experimenting with new carbon tech, liquid hydrogen etc. we are learning alot from the 5th gen fighters and scram-jet tech. We Indians have a very strong interest in new tech.
LCA has taken 25 years for its development and it still not ready to induct. The Tejas was supposed to have replaced the Mig 21s, MiG23s and MiG27s 20 years ago. The Tejas has yet to reach production status.Instead, it continues to perform endless flight tests and most of those are failed. Difficulties with flight controls & power plant continues to be plagued with technical difficulties, the worst of which was the collapse of the engine during high-altitude tests performed at a Russian base.

India has struggled for over two decades in designing the Tejas and it is not close to flight trials. The LCA, the Arjun, Trishul, and other missiles are the same failed stories. It purchased hundreds of Flying Coffins which it could neither maintain nor fly.

@khanf7pg As of right now Tejas is inferior to JF-17. The underbelly weight of Tejas limits its speed and ordnance carrying capacity. Small nose intakes limit its high speed manoeuvrability. Hal is trying to fix that problem but nobody knows how long its going to take. JF 17 has a higher air to ground capability. Above all JF-17 is a fully operational fighter jet where as LCA is still underdevelopment and failed in many essential tests. The biggest problem is its Engine.

Clearly ADA has taken too long to develop the Tejas. A 25 years lead time to develop a fighter aircraft is unrealistic. The IAF was never enthusiastic about inducting LCA. The aircraft's combat performance was dismal and so was its weapon load and Engine problem. Its high pressure hydraulic system was prone to frequent failures and its canopy and ejection systems has serious defects. During its prototype tests the LCA prototypes were grounded for many months on many occasions.
congrats IAF on getting the ge f414 engines for the LCA mark 2. Really good choice. Jas gripen uses it and those jets can fly. full frontal thrust and no after burner problems. good stuff. with your carbon wings the LCA is gonna be a reckoned lca.
@Askywarrior The LCA was a flawed project in its early years however due to vast spending on Indians point of view, they couldn't afford to scrap it hence the reason the project is still crippling forward today. Nevertheless, the JF-17 is an infant compared to the LCA and I would say more successful in that the short time compared to the LCA it has achieved much more and we have seen more test flights of the JF-17 than the number of photos of the LCA.
Just a word of advice to HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) make sure this fighter will be exported and also make sure the operational and maintenance cost will be comparable to the Jas 39 Gripen and surely the Philippines will buy this jet. Along with affordable Indian made missiles and bombs.
The Indian Hal Tejas is the fighter aircraft that i want for the Philippine Air Force. I hope India could develop the Tejas Mark 2 right away in the next two years because that is the time frame the Philippine Air Force will be buying its Multi- Role Fighters.
There is no comparison between a FLYING EAGLE (JF-17) flying high in the sky and a Vulture’s baby (LCA - LAST CHANCE AIRCRAFT) sitting in its nest.
IAF has announced that LCA will be operational by 2015 (but not sure) and reluctant to induct in IAF because it has been failed in many tests essential for a fighter plan… the big trouble is its engine that need to be replace and for a new engine the whole design has to be change.

According to an IAF source associated,Tejas has inducted but it is still not be the fighter the air force had agreed to accept for limited squadron service.Now in IAF there is a divide on LCA. Some want to turn the LCA into a advanced jet trainer due to its failure as multirole fighter, others are still convinced that it could be a success.
Other the other hand the PAF’s JF-17 is a success in designing and developing a light fighter aircraft in such short time in collaboration with China.

LCA has some major problems even after its induction, the most important one being a lack of thrust; the test flights have only reached M1.4 and 4Gs, not exactly impressive for a multi-role fighter. The Indians don´t know which engine to fit in the LCA since their "indigenous" Kaveri-engine is years from working, if it will work at all. Int. Jet-engine companies are trying to fix it, but it seems to be at a dead end. Any new engine they choose will require major redesign of the fuselage.

The only point where CF-1 stands out is its engine. Its engine is procured from locale technology and hence is advantageous than LCA.
With the ongoing trend of lifting the embargoes on India, we will soon be able to better the Kaveri engine. We are having talks with Snecma and Eurojet for tech transfer. Overall boss, I feel DRDO should be privatised.
No offence to either sides, but I like the body of F-16 better ;)

1. LCA has smaller profile than CF-1 enabling it better maneuvrability
2. LCA, bigger combat radius (3000kms vs ~1376kms)
3. Higher fuel capacity etc

LCA only took 5 years to develop (1990-1995), and its fly-by-wire system took 6 years (1992-1998). The aircraft was not flown for years because of American and British sanctions. The F404-GE-IN20 was available only in 2004 for the LSP-2! A.D.A. since then is only modifying the Tejas, not developing. The Americans took 20 years to develop the F-22’s engine. LCA’s performance is better than the early Gripen ‘C’ model and incomparably better than the Joint-Fuck JF-17. LCA MK-2 will be amazing.

India has struggled for over two decades in designing the Tejas and it is not close to flight trials. The LCA, the Arjun, Trishul, Akash and other missiles are the same failed stories. It purchased hundreds of Flying Coffins which it could neither maintain nor fly.

Instead, it continues to perform endless flight tests and most of these tests were also failed. Difficulties with its flight controls & power plant (kaveri engine) are still there and the worst of which was the collapse of the engine during high-altitude tests.

India’s failed LCA is the stuff made for jokes around military headquarters from Brussells to Moscow to Beijing to Washington. India has been trying to produce a plane called the LCA. After a decade of design, Delhi has failed to produce a fully operational plane. The project is years away from its completion.

To my Pakistani and Muslim brothers we Indians are not your enemies. Many of our own fighter pilots are also Muslim too. In fact we think the j17 fighter jets are pretty good.
We Indians are building the Tejas to also start our own aviation industry. We are experimenting with new carbon tech, liquid hydrogen etc. we are learning alot from the 5th gen fighters and scram-jet tech. We Indians have a very strong interest in new tech.

LCA has taken 25 years for its development and it still not ready to induct. The Tejas was supposed to have replaced the Mig 21s, MiG23s and MiG27s 20 years ago. The Tejas has yet to reach production status.Instead, it continues to perform endless flight tests and most of those are failed. @khanf7pg As of right now Tejas is inferior to JF-17. The underbelly weight of Tejas limits its speed and ordnance carrying capacity. Small nose intakes limit its high speed manoeuvrability. Hal is trying to fix that problem but nobody knows how long its going to take. JF 17 has a higher air to ground capability. Above all JF-17 is a fully operational fighter jet where as LCA is still underdevelopment and failed in many essential tests. The biggest problem is its Engine.

Clearly ADA has taken too long to develop the Tejas. A 25 years lead time to develop a fighter aircraft is unrealistic. The IAF was never enthusiastic about inducting LCA. The aircraft's combat performance was dismal and so was its weapon load and Engine problem. Its high pressure hydraulic system was prone to frequent failures and its canopy and ejection systems has serious defects. During its prototype tests the LCA prototypes were grounded for many months on many occasions.

congrats IAF on getting the ge f414 engines for the LCA mark 2. Really good choice. Jas gripen uses it and those jets can fly. full frontal thrust and no after burner problems. good stuff. with your carbon wings the LCA is gonna be a reckoned lca.

@Askywarrior The LCA was a flawed project in its early years however due to vast spending on Indians point of view, they couldn't afford to scrap it hence the reason the project is still crippling forward today. Nevertheless, the JF-17 is an infant compared to the LCA and I would say more successful in that the short time compared to the LCA it has achieved much more and we have seen more test flights of the JF-17 than the number of photos of the LCA.

Just a word of advice to HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) make sure this fighter will be exported and also make sure the operational and maintenance cost will be comparable to the Jas 39 Gripen and surely the Philippines will buy this jet. Along with affordable Indian made missiles and bombs.

There is no comparison between a FLYING EAGLE (JF-17) flying high in the sky and a Vulture’s baby (LCA - LAST CHANCE AIRCRAFT) sitting in its nest.
IAF has announced that LCA will be operational by 2015 (but not sure) and reluctant to induct in IAF because it has been failed in many tests essential for a fighter plan… the big trouble is its engine that need to be replace and for a new engine the whole design has to be change.

but i doubt it would be very maneuverable! I saw the turn rate of Tejas was pretty slow compared to JAS etc, It has a delta wing with a compound canard and no independent canard like JAS or Eurofighter! so i think its going to be an very average dog fighter!
