i picked my boy duck up today and he flew out of my hands scrached half my face and eye then flew over to his girl.......... someone did something to him at the place we orderd him from because they put them on display untill people who orderd them get there to pick them up

I have a duck Pekin I resuced him from an abuser. He came across the street away from his abusers home and started pecking me. I kept him. But my duck is in his pen and all the grass is dead because his poop, what can i do?

If you have a big yard you should let him lose for a while. Duck excrement is actually a natural fertilizer and should be good for your grass. The grass is probably dying because your duck is probably confined to that one spot for too long.

Well my duck is set on trying to kill me.. To get him to the yard a gotta drag him, when he is grabbing onto my jeans or boots with his beak... ;o

mostly, no. It depends entirely on where you live, on city ordinances. check your own area to be sure. Or perhaps if you live in one of those community run projects that have restrictions on what you can do there and what colour to paint your house (*thpt*). Advise you to join yahoo groups petducksrus for lots of connecting advice.

yes I agree! the more I'm aware of the suffering of animals for consumptions sake, the less I am eating meat. I can't stand thinking what they went through for me to eat. Our original mandate at creation was relationship with God, animals and earth and WE renigged on the deal! We were given so much. I don't mind so much what has to be now, but we've also forgotten MERCY!

yeah, thanks. I thought it was very appropriate, except mine don't fly away! he he They know where they've got it good. I've got some muskys in a refuge which all went adventuring for up to 3 weeks, but they came back. AGain, they know when they're onto a good thing!

Minr are Poultry ducks. I rescued them from being slaughtherd eventually.

Mine do they same thing to in the pool lol, I also got a tiny pool they swim in.

I have 3, you have 2 and a turkey right??  Very cute!! My cage is also pretty much the same.

hehe- no, no turkey. I've got the grey duck still, but not her white sister - they used to fight too much. The big one is a pekin; he's my baby! I now have another girlfriend for him, a campbell.

I have two dogs (see more from this user) and live nr. Wollongong (australia)

Mine was a drake too - got pretty big, like a goose! Outgrew the kiddie pool. Kept outside after about a year old. Loved plucking Japanese beetles off the bushes. I fed him cracked corn as a main diet and he ate almost anything from french fries to grapes. After a few years, retired him to a friends farm that had other ducks and a large pond. He probably liked all that water better then a little kiddie pool.

haha! Too cute!!! I love how they were afraid of the pool. Bumby was afraid of my ex-step moms pool although it is a huge inground pool. poor things are so silly sometimes!
