  • This guy try too hard to be funny, but looks very depressed

  • could you tell me more about the ymca hostel???? do you know what the rooms and showers are like?? x

  • @CHICKpearl Go to the YMCA Vanderbildt at East 47th. Nice people/very helpful. Small rooms with bunkbeds. Rooms are cleaned up every day, simple rooms but a good price. Swimmingpools, gyms and laundry. Separated showers at each floor. No restaurant. I went there 4 times and go next week again. For me it was satisfactorily !!! Ruud mulder netherlands
  • I like your hair and glasses.

Pink means pussy, and youve got a lot of it.

    peace be with you.

  • Where do the: Taxi cab drivers, the hotel maids and orderlies, the people who work in fast food restaurants live?

  • The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, New Jersey. Affordable housing is a real problem in New York.

  • Hi , thank you for the video I'm a spanish girl and me and my brother go to new york in august for 3 weeks in YMCA Vanderbilt, I hope it's ok. If not let me know please

  • The Vanderbilt YMCA is fine. It is in a great neighborhood in midtown east. In fact I did a video a few weeks ago about cheap places to stay and I talked about the Vanderbilt. Check out my channel. It should be easy to find.

  • This is a great video and this whole series will be great for a cheap-ass like myself. I am going to be staying in a bunkbed room in the Gershwin Hotel for $35 a night. Have you heard anything about the Gershwin Hotel?

  • I know the area and I think the Gershwin is considered hip and trendy. The neighborhood is safe, becoming gentrified, formerly a heavy prostitution area.

  • GREAT Info, Phil!! I haven't booked yet. On vacations, the nicer hotels don't appeal to me (because for one thing, you're never in the room anyway). "I don't want a touristy hotel--I want to stay someplace indicative of the people and their culture!" OK, what movie is that from? Sounds like the West Side Y to me! The fact that you had so many happy times there is also a plus! Thanks for helping me make my plans!

  • Thanks Jimmy. More to come. I shot after work at the Top of the Rock. Good floating backgrounds there.

  • Let me know when you're coming. I'd love to say hi.

  • I'm a big fan of doing cheap things. And I've certainly had my share of hostile experiences...!

Totally loving this walking tour, Phil. Every time you do this, it's a treat. Sadly, I won't be able to make it out to NYC in July like I'd planned, so these are all the more delicious.

As for buying soap on a rope, well... I prefer to save the expense and take it like a man.

    ;-D

  • hosile? fun with homonyms.

    We'll miss you.

  • Uncle Phil just saw this one. I want to hear you yodel when you take it like a man!

  • Part of it seems to me like these pompous, self-promoting "superstars" of YouTube want to provide a forum for people to fawn over them (and buy their t-shirt . . . . puke). I'd be interested in your opinion on the whole "As One" thing. I know that you liked Lisa Nova's take on it.

  • I don't care much for the As One thing. I am more with the As Hole group. I just want to meet my friends. Those I subscribe to and who subscribe to me. I don't even watch the so called superstars (except for Zipster08 who is a friend). I will not be fawning.

  • It's so great, Phil, that you would take all this time and trouble to create a series of travelogues for people interested in New York. This whole 7-7-7 thing, though. It's a nice idea for fellow YouTubers to get together, shake hands, have a drink, etc., etc. But all this "As One" bullshit . . . . .

  • You're getting pretty scary mad good with the edit program!!!

  • This thing you have for/with Yoko just cracks me UP! Love you!!

  • I have always felt Yoko was unfairly maligned and I love her and include her in all the family gatherings.

    Love you too!!!!

  • I was born in Greenwich, but moved to Rhode Island at age 2, so never became familiar with NYC except for a trip at Easter when I was 9 or so (ca. 1970). A very fun and informative video! Now, as a "W", where are the NYC Y*W*CAs? Would they be in the same area as the YMCAs?

Sorry you hurt your head...I wonder why, after falling out of the plane, at some point you didn't start to float? :-)

  • My coeficient of flotisciousness could not overcome gravity fast enough :) There are not many YWCAs in NY. But all of the YMCAs are co-ed. And they don't stress the Christian part anymore. It might as well be the YA.

  • Kudos to you (and your co-stars) for an entertaining and informative look at the Big Apple; thank you for reminding us that it's STiLL fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A~{{;›}~!!!

  • Thanks. I and my co-stars thank you.

  • Now thats very practical information to make 777 accessable to everyone not to mention entertaining as hell . Thanks Phil theres alot of thought footwork and editing there.

  • I do to. I'm sure there are many of us who would love to see you here.

  • Awesome my friend. Great editing. I always love to watch you. Being from NYC myself I must say you really did your homework, great job

  • After 28 years, I still love the city, and sharing my love for the city. It's always good to hear from fellow New Yorkers. Thanks.

  • Great idea for a video. :)

  • Thanks. I have a few more to go on this subject. I hope you enjoy them.

  • Lots of great info. I think I'd have to spend a little more on the flight, though... lol. Great job. "It's fun to stay at the YMCA..."

  • That song was very popular when I moved into the YMCA in 1979.

  • Love the intro!!!

    That hostel international looks massive!!!!!

  • Thanks. It is quite large. Its width is an entire city block.

  • phill his head would hit like a bullet

  • It hurts me to watch =P

  • Very interesting video Phil. I wish I had someone here who could do a video of where to eat cheaply in London U.K. I reckon we'll be living on pizzas for a couple of days in June! :-)

  • I've never been to the U.K. All I know about cheap food in London is fish 'n' chips. I wish I could be there with you and Zipster and friends. I know you'll have a great time.

  • Great video. Its info and its editing are gold.

  • Thanks so much.

  • What do you do for a job? :P Nice video, if I were coming to New York, I would so use your video as references :), and the video is even fun to watch even if I'm not going, great job.

  • I design and support computer networks; show business didn't work out :(. But YouTube is my creative outlet. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

  • what were you trying to get in?

  • New York theatre.

  • i seroiusly might just come on 777 now. haha. this is awesome./ 2nd time

  • I hope you do come.

  • Great video, very informative. The edititing was done very well! You gotta love the city too, there is always something to discover every time you visit, no matter how many times you visit.

  • And it changes so rapidly. If I haven't been in a neighborhood in a couple of years, when I go back it's different, sometimes in major ways.

  • dude this is really effing cool

  • That means a lot coming from my favorite niece.

    Love, Uncle Phil.

  • dude how are you doing all this cool stuff

  • I like the new intro song.

  • Thanks. I have a jingle!
