Thanks. This saved me big. And thanks for the comments from people about removing the top and front panel to get that pesky screw. Ordered the repl part from amazon $35 plus i paid $12 for expedited shipping.
I have a DV448AEW/XAA, and had the same problem. With your help, I was able to disassemble and test, replace the part (the element), and get my dryer back up and running. THANKS!
Thanks for the video, what an easy job! As another poster commented, you can take the front off very easily (about 12-14 screws) to get the top & front panels off (takes an extra 5 mins), then you can easily unscrew the front of the heater assembly. Also, I jiggled the wire connectors and they came off the thermostats.
The question I now have is do I replace a $110 board without assurances that this is even the problem or just go but an inexpensive dryer that works! Ugh.
Currently I think I've given enough blood on the sheet metal to this unit.
Thought I had the same problem. However after taking the unit apart and testing all the sensors and coil for continuity finally realized that the Power relay on the main board was blown. This is after only 2 years, and of course after the warranty has expired. I have been a huge samsung fan but their products are very poor for durability. I've been web crawling and have seen an alarming number of Samsung issues along with horrendous support that I myself have experienced now several times.
Silverpup78, I have a Samsung Model #: DV218AEW/XAA. Do you know where I can find a video demonstrating how to get to the coil and heat element from the front of the dryer. I read that many said it was easier that way. Also how can I find the part # for my dryer? Thanks.
It's way to hard to go entirely through the back portal. That front heater screw is crazy to get to. Take off the top/front panels. It takes about 5-10 mins at most. There's web videos demonstrating. The final step of removing front panel was done by tilting the top edge out 8-10" and lifting. The bad heater coil is replaced cheapest by part # DC47-00019A about $37 on amazzon. The coil comes mounted on its flat plate so it is a 3 minute job to put it into the metal tunnel assembly.
Thank you all for the comments to this video. This is why i put this up because i could not find any help. Looks like from everyone else, you can get to the heating element easier from the front panel. My video shows how to do this from the back panel, which still works with alittle more effort.
I can't thank you enough! After looking ALL OVER the web for where the heating element is, and what the damn thing even looks like, I found a link to this video on amazon. Everything was explained so well and clearly that I had no problems (other than buying a small screwdriver and a multimeter) doing the replacement. Just for the record, I have Samsung DV218AEB/XAA, and I recommend doing the front screw from the front. So my dryer works now!
Thanks Silverpup78 for uploading this. I used it to fix my DV219AEW which blew the element after only 2 years. I bought Samsung because of their rep in electronics, but since my icemaker blew on my Samsung fridge after LESS than 2 years it's clear they aren't that well made.
That last screw you have to reach in for... Man that was awful. I'm glad you mention it because I would have probably torn the housing before finding it.
Very helpful. However, after reading the comments here, I attacked the element from the front of the washer. I got the whole heating unit out without taking the thermostats off until I opened the unit to check the element. Yup, broken. I was amazed how much lint was lining the parts between the dryer wall and the drum! Lint buildup in the heater unit was burned (this probably is what causes all these elements to prematurely fail).
Thanks! Very helpful. The most likely part for the heater is Samsung DC47-00019A . It's easy to find online, but I wanted to fix immediately so ran around trying to find it locally. Whirlpool/Maytag part #8544771 does NOT fit. So the the part supplier came up with just the coil with the end terminals, not on the frame. You just have to feed the coil around on the ceramic insulators on the support frame, making sure it doesn't touch metal. Really easy. Electrolux part #5300622032.
@smeier12 Thanks for the headup that Electrolux part #5300622032 works to fix Samsung DC47-00019A for my DV203 dryer. The best way to get that back screw on is to take the front door off.
Silver78. Had the same issue with our Samsung dryer. The only problem we are having is my husband did not take notice of the wire color in connection with the prong. On the heating element does is it red on top, blue on the bottom. Also, I am seeing in your video theromostat wires are blue on top black bottom came you verify this for me. I love at home projects I get sucked into. LOL
This happened to my Samsung 7.3 CF steam dryer yesterday. I went ahead and removed the heater with thermostats 2 and 3 along with the element. The t-stats were ok. The element was open. I shined the ends of the nichrome that were burnt and parted and used a #16 uninsulated butt splice to repair the element while I await the new one i ordered online. $43 Dryer is now heating again and I will replace the element when my "repair" fails.
Thanks for the video... it saved me a ton of time figuring out exactly what to test with my ohm-meter. I had a broken coil just like yours. For anyone looking for the part, it was DC47-00019A. Huge variation in prices so shop around. Got mine for $35 plus shipping.
@KTNesmith - did you find an answer for this? It just happened to mine and I called samsung & they told me to clean the lint trap, as if I never have. Did it, still gets the error. Ugh.
Great Video! Except that I could not get the screw off near the front, and I ended up taking the front off, which was actually pretty easy, and got right to the "devil" screw!!! LOL! Anyway! Thanks a bunch!!!
Slilverpup78 good job..Do you know the model number for the coil par? We have a samsung dryer model DV209AEW/XAA But it looks just the same on the inside. We are having the same problem no heat.thanks for this video it really help us to see how to get to the coil. never buy another samsung again. We had replaced the thermostat and the thermistor and we still have no heat so we will try the coil. Thanks so much for this video. :)
@DarleneBarbuto sorry for the delay, do you still need the model number for the coil? I used searsdirectparts online to determine what number i needed. Good luck and again i am glad to have posted this. I like samsung tv's but the new style dryers are really cheaply made!!

Thank you so much Silverpup78! Decided to look on YouTube for a video for this dryer after the heat stopped working. I had good luck with another video when I needed to repair my snowblower so I decided to look on YT again.
This video saved me a service call and parts! THANK YOU for being kind and sharing your experiences with others!
YES! I have the same dryer and the same problem. THANK YOU!!! I thought for sure there was an easier way to get at the heating element in this Samsung, but now I know there's not. What a poor design as far as maintenance. But thanks for going to the effort to shoot, edit and post this, it'll be a huge timesaver for me.
@cpallos Thank you for your comment. This is why i did this video because i could not find anywhere on the net to fix this samsung dryer. The local repair shops in town said they could not get parts, i just ordered online and put the part in. Best of luck and I am sure you have a broken coil in yours too
@Silverpup78 it was the heater coil, so thanks again! i was able to order it from sears for $35 so that's waaay better than have a repairman come fix it. one thing it did figure out was that it's much easier to get at that front screw on the heater coil housing if you remove the front panel. so if you or anyone else needs to do this, that whole front panel/door assembly can be removed so you can access that screw without trying to do it blindly through that ridiculously small vent opening.
This is very similar to the DV219EAW repair process. I was unable to get the screw that holds the element housing in place from the back. I couldn't get enough pressure on it and it was slipping on the screwdriver. You can do the repair from the front (where you can get more presssure on the screw). take the top off and then the control panel and front door panel. (2 screws on the lint trap). Then you can get at the element housing easy.
I noticed in the video you were wearing electrician gloves. Are those needed even though the dryer is unplugged?

These things eat belts,
For the newer samsung machines use the part # 33002535 by FSP, its a maytag belt of much higher quality than the original and fits perfectly
