I choose for British Accents. They have proper english. I hate Malaysian English because it is a bit weird and a bit rude. Even some tourist around the world (some British) hate our accent. So, GO FOR BRITISH!
manglish got divide into southern accent (more closer with singlish), central accent (closer to canton accent), northern accent, east coast accent and several borneoan accents. depends on ethnic demographic on the regions, the mixture between hokkien, teochew, hakka, cantonese, mandarin, malay, tamil and english is different across these areas. and malay language itself have different accents across the states.
@journeymanjim HAHA . well , as an example , when we say "yala" , it means YES!! and sounds like you didn't need to ask the question . you get it ? and likely to the usage of "lor" haha
Oh ! yea , I shouldn't forget "Walau eh" xDD it's something like "What the hell" in english . LOL xDD
come on lah... even in UK,less than 5% speak standard english...what is defination of proper english...?? speaking like american means speaking proper english..?? we should be proud of our english accent, even my Englishman teacher said that.. english is wide..everybody will have their own accent of it..
@JLKnight77 my englishman teacher... even he admited that most of british people dont speak standard and proper english... and speaking like a british or american doesnt mean that you speak proper english....
@rexaph015 definitely you can like our Manglish/SInglish. It's a cultural thing. But sticking to our accent doesn't mean we have to speak English with bad sentence structure and say it improperly. We can use "lah" or "ah", that emphasize our expression in different circumstance. But we shouldn't say something that isn't easy to be understood. (sometimes I can't understand the Manglish with too much mixed words too.)
no one in malaysia speaks like this.... they are over exaggerating in this video and sounds too fake/unnatural. tho it's funny to see how some foreigners think malaysians always end every sentence with a '-lah'. literally. like "Can I get a menu-lah', "Do you want to go there-lah" XD
i always think why people criticize our style? i mean how our style speak..."la" we always use at the end of word..it one of our style,so people think ya
This was an assignment? What was the outcome? Was the objective to identify and then change the way you would speak or just to have a bit of fun? I am curious.
Waa... you guys have cute accents
