  • It's more than a salmon lodge, it's about the characters & friends you'd make. Ian & Glenda are phenomenal hosts. I've brought many friends there, Dad too. He loved the place when he was alive. Never forget my first time there in '98 & my first cast produced an almost 9lb salmon - yes on first cast. Been a few fought & lost since. I'm in Australia now & really miss this wee Brigadoon in beautiful Ireland. Be warned - if you manage to go, and you ought to, the river itself will mesmerize you.

  • I stayed at Blackwater lodge June 2007. The fishing is fantastic, best anywhere, the lodge is superb and full of character but best of all are the people. The owners Ian and Glenda Powell are the kindest folk you'd meet anywhere and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Ian is a great angler and readily shares his wisdom. Glenda is an internationally famous casting champion and A.P.G.A.I instructor. The local people are friendly and justifiably proud of their environment heritage.

  • Great lodge, and better people! And fantastic fishing!
