I have given Dick Morris more than 3 days to respond, so I will correct the record here. At 4:10 in the video, he states that Dan Bartholomay led the fight against the Shariah mortgages (aka NMMP). Dan was the MHFA commissioner and had no role in opposing the NMMP. For the full story, search on "The Bostrom Chronicles" which Dick cites.

Dick also errs in stating that "all hell broke loose." It is Shariah that is hell. What broke loose was patriotism and civility - no meetings were disrupted.

While this program should never have gotten off the ground, Pawlenty’s denial of its existence is plausible, given that only ~3 people actually used it. (Dick did not refute this assertion made by Pawlenty aide, Alex Conan). While we conservatives correctly abhor anything that condones Sharia Law in America, this program lies on the periphery of more serious Sharia-Judicial issues and is a relatively minor admin. lapse. Big picture, it is completely dwarfed by e.g., the error of RomneyCare.

This is an example of how a government entity, with perhaps good intentions, interferes with honest, free commerce. Morris ferrets out legislation and action which muti-faced politicians attempt to manipulate for their own temporary gains and advantage. She really has the most conservative track record: Against TARP, Guts to stick up for spending cuts, against climate change, for a flat tax, against LIbya war/intervening, social conservative--and she's articulate. What is there not to like? Good job Dick. Pawlenty was a decent Governor. However, he is young and has a lot to learn. I suspect this was one of those experiences. This is the best way to help him learn and pay attention. Any politician who does not see the dangers of any proliferation of Shariah Law in the States, should take his campaign to Iran or Saudi Arabia and have the Shiite or the Sunni Muslims vote for him/her.
