  • I'd love to send you a saved copy of this file, but the version of mlrv I'm using has a bug and it doesn't save. Since I don't want to fork out $700+ for a copy of the Max/MSP editor and I've never been able to find an mlrv version that worked properly, I just live with it being busted.

If you happen to find a working version that saves, send me a link and I'll get you a copy of this file with the associated loops.

  • dude. can you send me the saved file from mlrv you used here? along maybe with the samples also. - modi.ankkit@gmail.com

  • You have to set the appropriate port in ArduinomeSerial.

    1. Hit the /mlr button in the bottom right of mlrv while ArduinomeSerial is running and it will set it for you.

    2. Make sure that the protocol in ArduinomeSerial is OSC and not MIDI.

    3. In mlrv, press the DAC button to start the digital audio

After you hit the DAC button then your monome should show a flashing light in the top corner to show it's connected. Good luck, it takes a bit of figuring out the first time.

  • i have arduinomeserial how do i connect it to mlrv?

  • Nice. Was that $35 for all 3, or $35 each? Who did you order through? Let me know if the PCBs are any good.

  • I ordered my unsped shield from BatchPCB.com. It's on the parts list on my blog with a link to the Eagle file that you need to submit to them. I paid about $35 including shipping, and the quality of the PCB was very good.

I could never get ahold of xndr from machinecollective. Shame, really - I can understand him packing it in, but it would have been nice of him to open source the hardware spec for his cases before doing so. That said, I like my curiousinventor case.

I ended up doing my Unsped PCB from another source, but I'll be getting 3 copies for around $35. I figure i can hold the other 2 as reserves in case I mess up, or I can even sell them back to the arduinome community or build another one.

  • Oh, firmware is also a piece of cake - I have that all on screencast, so I'll try to get that done and posted as well.

  • @wingnut123

The wiring is actually not that bad at all. I kind of went overboard with header connectors for the wiring because I'm a little OCD and I wanted the wiring to look clean, which made it more work than it needed to be.

If you follow the curiousinventor build guide like I did, they have great color-coded diagrams that make it almost impossible to screw up. If you go with the other board I won't be able to assist as much since I went with the SparkFun PCBs.

  • Haven't made any progress on the wiring video. Might get to it this weekend. Part 1 was just me introducing the project, you're not missing anything useful there. I haven't edited or uploaded that one yet either.

I'm happy to help as you get going - feel free to touch base with any questions. I've also got a parts list on my blog.

Thanks, I couldn't find anybody that was selling the Unsped shield so I sent the Eagle/Gerbers to a group that will make a batch of the PCBs. Did machinecollective just stop making their enclosures? I realize that they were quite expensive, but the quality looked amazing from what I could see.

Right now I've just recently bought an Arduino starter kit to familiarize myself with it. I have software/programming experience but no hands-on experience.

  • @spindlenine

The only part that I'm not clear about the arduinome build is the wiring of the SparkFun PCBs to the Unsped shield and then installing the firmware on it. I've been looking into Bibo's PCB as it's just one big PCB instead of the four SparkFun PCBs and supposedly the wiring is easier, although I haven't seen any pictures of the wiring.

  • Do you have any updates on the Arduinome build? Also, was there ever a Part 1? I can't seem to find it.

I'm hoping to start my own arduinome build within the next month.
