I have this kick ass Asus G2S A4 gaming laptop & installed SL retail, updated to 10.6.4 & running smoothly & stable. With the XGA LCD screen that my Asus has, the resolution is amazing! My Asus with SL runs way better, faster, & more reliable than any Macbook Pro cause my hardware is top of the line, not some no name brand like most Apple uses on their junk! Asus products r world class & the best period! This G2S is still Asus most beautiful laptop ever made by them, slick & well build! Love it.

I have the same laptop only mine has 2.5 ghz and 4gb ram and the 8800 GT graphics card... THE WORST LAPTOP EVER. it will break a lot, crash even more, the fan sucks cuz my hard disk got burned twice. i have repaired it 6 times in 1 year. if you like it...dont buy it!

the crashing has stopped, and an internet search suggests that those two games will not run on vista. Kinda sucks cuz I bought a gaming computer specifically to play those games. Do you find the video card powerful enough? I haven't put it to the test yet.

Battlfield Vietnam maybe not but Battlefield 2 absolutely runs ! U can find g2s videos playing bf2.

Just download patches for Vista.

Only the 8700 gt is better than 8600 for laptops !!

8600 gt is on some desktops too ! So don't worry the vga is good(I can run Crysis at medium 35 fps average !)

I have this laptop, am typing on it right now. Bit of a disappointment if you ask me. Crysis runs so slowly that it is unplayable (on lowest settings. Oblivion isn't perfectly smooth on medium settings, older games are fine, Call of Duty 4 runs well also. Major disappointment about crysis and oblivion though :(

XP 32-bit and Vista 32-bit operating systems both cannot use over 4GB of RAM. Unless you received the 64-bit version of vista, there is no memory-addressing advantage of XP vs. Vista.

the point is.. vista x64 is much more supported than xp x64 driver wise. there is no point of getting xp x64 because no one really supports it as much as vista x64. if your gonna run 64 bit, you may as well run vista x64 and get the bonus of having directx10.

Downloaded the new patch for Quake 4, patch v1.4 and it plays now but it lags horrible when its on x16 Anti-alising, I have to bring it down all te way to 4x and it still lags a bit, Prey runs smoother but not on all max! 8600GT just sucks, it would be cool if this laptop had the 7950gtx instead! Hey post your settings for Quake 4 so I can set them da same on mine and see if it runs smooth on max like you said!

I just received this killer notebook from 3Gplaza com for $1,591 total! It is fuckin' beautiful and so powerful! Vista runs smooth sometimes,,, has some trouble running xp programs and build in speakers with HD sound are amazing and loud! This notebook does't look like the rest of notebooks around cause of its unique design! Carbon Fiber/ Brush Metal makes this G2S and eye catcher. Oh and its full of gadgets and tricks, it has everything you want on a notebook!

Yeah It can handle Crysis on medium settings and it can play pretty much any game you throw at it.

Yes, I asked it in the store here in belgium, they told me there is no problem upgrading the system ram. You still got warranty on your laptop if you upgrade ram.

I don't know where you live but you can ask it to where you bought the G2S ;-)

In the G1S the 8600M GT can use 768MB shared memory, if i upgrade to 4GB ram(now i got 2GB ram) then i can put much more settings on high?

Oh and by the say, the guy that had it told me that it runs about 3 to 3 1/2 hours on battery in normal usage but when playing games at max it runs about 1 1/2 hrs. This rocks! He also said that don't think twice, just get it, it plays all games including Bio Shock (medium settings)! Oh & that its the best!
