  • Finshed the book and started it over again, i didn't want the story to end, I cried I laughed I hated the characters sometimes But what an amazing Novel.. Can't wait for the movie and the sequel..........

  • love the Book, is it true it's gonna be a movie?

  • @badbradsc Thank you! And yes, if all goes according to plan, the movie will come out. The contracts are signed and everything. I'm also working on a sort of sequel novel from Tim's perspective. There are a lot of exciting things on the horizon!

  • I read this book, cried like a bitch(pages 268-269) but I cried even more when I finished it,I just didn't want it to be over.

  • @emiliawth I feel like I should apologize for making you cry, but I'll just say thank you instead. I'm glad you enjoyed the book enough that you didn't want it to end. :)

  • I bought this book on Thursday morning and finished it on Friday. This was absolutely an amazing book. I'm really happy that I bought it. Thank you for writing a book that I can, in someway relate.

  • @ibejason18 Thanks, Jason! That you could relate to the story means a lot to me. Thanks for giving it a read!

  • this book was amazing!!!! i often found my self staying up past 12 reading not being able to get enough. i reconmend this book to really anyone. i was also wondering if there is going to be another. i really wish that you would make a sequel. please please make a sequel!!!

  • @clos760oside Thanks! I love your enthusiasm! There might be a sequel of sorts some day. Anything is possible! :)

  • I just got your book in the mail today! I was so excited when I saw the amazon package at my door. I'm 4 chapters in currently and I'm hooked! Looks like I'll be up all night reading. Thank you!! :)

  • @renetrujillo13 That's awesome! I hope you enjoy the rest of it too!

  • Thanks ;D

  • Hi just read the first chapter of your book in a sample and as soon as I get some cash I'm getting the whole thing PS I'm an aspiring author and have been looking for a mentor as of late just let me know if you're looking for an apprentice I'll be first in line ;D

  • @BecauseEyeSaidSo1 That's great! I hope you enjoy the book. And I doubt there's much I could teach you. Just read a lot and practicing your writing as often as you can. You'll get the hang of it!

  • I love this book so far!! Only on chapter 15, but it's amazing! KUDOS on your awesome book. Hope there is more to come on the subject..

  • @browell25 Excellent! I hope you enjoy the rest just as much! :)

  • I live this book so far! Can't stop reading it.

  • Any recomendations of books similar to this one

  • you r my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @NonEmoSebby Thanks! I'll try not to abuse my power! ;)

  • I just finished your book. It's 3 in the morining but i just couldn't stop reading it. It's one of the best M/M novels i've read. I'm from Latin American and i loved that you didn't go the easy way, just falls in love and that's all, happy ever after. Your characters are so real and complex. One question, where did you get the idea of Jace? Such an amazing character; i felt like he was the hero of the book and Ben's true love. Man, I wish they'd mass-produce guys like him :D

  • @kevinc62 Another late night reader! That's always a good sign. I'm glad you liked the book Kevin. The inspiration for Jace came from a lot of sources. I love it when flight attendants have tidy little outfits, for instance. In a lot of ways, Jace is very much like my husband Andreas. Both are extremely nice and patient people that rarely get angry. Andreas is older and more experienced than me too, so there's that. They also have a lot of differences, but that's part of Jace's origin.

  • I finished it last night at 5 in the morning. It is now my favorite book ever!

  • @roundandround14 Cool! Glad you like it, Andrew. Five in the morning, eh? You must have been on a reading marathon!

  • I wish you could negotiate a better price for the kindle version of your book. I feel it is significantly undervalued. It's good for the readers, but I think your book deserves a lot more. A lot of shitty books are priced at a much higher range. I also wish Ben's story could be split into 2-3 books. But one thing is for sure, I absolutely love the ending.

  • this book is amazing! I sent you an Email on your hot mail with a link to a video I made about it please check it out. I still can't stop imagining what it would be like to have that much love and passion in my life

  • Jay, thanks so much for your amazing book. I love all of the characters and the ending is heartbreaking. I've got the Kindle version for $2.99. I think that's much too cheap. I can't imagine that you can make a living out of that. I would have payed 10 bucks or even more for such an great novel. Is there any sequel planned? What is the best way to get the latest news about your work?

  • @eldadio Hey Eldadio. I'm glad you liked the book. I price it so low because the most important thing to me is that people read the story. If it's affordable, more people can buy it. If enough people do, I can still make a living, so if you can recommend it to any friends, that would make me very happy. Regardless, I'm just glad you liked it.

The best way to keep up with the latest news is through my blog (link in video description), but I also make a video here for every new release. :)

  • OMG you're Jay Bell! You are my hero! I read "Something Like Summer" over the weekend last week and even now, I can't stop thinking about it! The characters and the many heartbreaking scenes still appear in my mind. I read it by purchasing the Kindle Vers but last night, I finally decided I want a physical version so I pre-order the Paperback. I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for creating such an amazing book that I'm sure I'll treasure all my life. I think I will re-read it this weekend.

  • @worldofmines Thanks! I'm glad Something Like Summer meant so much to you. I hope you enjoy the paperback. It's the best way to check out Andreas's cover art, which I think is really great. Anyway, I really appreciate your enthusiasm and support. I feel very lucky to have a reader like you!

  • So I recently came to terms with being gay (6 yrs after actually coming out, lol) and have been trying to find gay culture that wasn't targeting sex drugs and rock /roll. You know, like finding love/settling down, or dealing with real life stuff, like it's normal, cause well it should be. Anywho, I found this vid via another and ordered Something Like Summer off amazon. Long story short, it now ranks as a favorite of mine and helped me out alot. You're an amazing author. Thanks and keep it up.

  • @sacweis It's great to hear that Something Like Summer is now one of your favorites. Even better to hear that you are coming to terms with being gay. It can take a while, just as it did for Tim. I know I needed a good four years to get used to it all. Anyway, thanks for giving my book a read. I really appreciate it!

  • @JayBellBooks. Yeah, no problem. I actually recommended it to my roommate and she loved it too. We just wanted to let you know that you're very talented and inspirational and we appreciate all of your words. Even though she's straight, she said that she was able to still relate to a lot of the situations and plots, which I definitely liked since I felt it reinforced that love was universal. Anywho, thanks again.

  • @sacweis That's a really cool point about love being universal. There seems to be a new movement of straight females that like gay fiction. I've even gotten fan mail from little old ladies, which blow my mind! Regardless, thanks for getting more people to read it and for your very flattering words. *big hugs*

  • yay this book is on Apple's iBook Store

  • I'm in about the 3/4 of the way through and I started YESTERDAY NIGHT I LOVE IT!!!!!!! It's awesome thank you for writing this. I can't telll you how much I've enjoyed the book.Sometimes I wanna slow down so it can last longer and then I wanna speed up cause it's SOOOOO GOOOD!! 5 stars DEFINITELY BUY IT I BOUGHT KINDLE VERSION AND ACTUAL BOOK!!!!

  • @underworldguy56 Somehow I missed this message when you first posted it. Sorry about that! Thanks for buying not one, but two copies of Something Like Summer. That's amazing!

  • I have alot of books I plan to buy, and I'll definitely be putting this one on my list! It's on Amazon, right?

  • @mneunbamboon Yup! It's up on Amazon and some other places. There are links on my website for any format you might prefer.

  • "Hey do you like gay sex???" great opening, hahaha XD :)

Andreas' artwork is beautiful! I bet it feels so awesome to be done with it and hold the finished product in your hands! I hope to one day, write LGBT novels/fantasy novels, whether as my main career, or on the side, just like you do now. It's one of my dreams.I'm just sometimes anxious and impatient, and a perfectionist, but I hope I can overcome those struggles so that I can get my work published! The story sounds amazing!

  • @mneunbamboon When you're ready, just write a little bit everyday. Before you know it, you'll have a full novel on your hands. To be honest, I used to force myself to write a paragraph everyday. These days I'm hooked and I really enjoy the process, although I still have to whip my attention span occasionally.

  • I just finished the book...it was really, really magnificent. Definitely one of the best gay books I've read (And I've been reading A LOT of them! (: ) I'm very proud to add this book to my collection. Wonderful work, wonderful story and wonderful characters. <3

  • @kplady13 Thank you so much! That's very flattering, especially since you're so well read. I really appreciate you spending time with Ben and his friends. :)

  • I just finished it, and I read the whole thing in one day! It is highly recommended, with some very surprising twists and turns. Thanks a lot for the book, I hope the next one will come out soon!

  • @janaxis One day only? Wow! That's amazing! I don't think I could read it that fast if I tried. :D Thanks for reading it and for the kind words. It means a lot to me. :)

  • I've read both your books and i liked both but i loved this one..thanks

  • just bought the books nd now can't wait for them to arrive I am gonna have to check the post every day now!!!!!! Soo excited

    you are just too cool

  • @Llaihreneiyi Hey, awesome! Promise you'll come back and tell me what you think of them! :)

  • I read your book the other day. I absolutely loved it. At one point it felt like you were telling my story, but then it diverged into something totally new and unexpected.

Awesome writing. I'll be looking out for more from you :)

  • @Heyaitsjohn Thanks John! I'm glad to hear you were able to relate to it so well. Big hugs to you for reading!

  • I have just bought your book for my android tablet (kindle app), it's fantastic, I really loved it. Thanks :)

  • Judging by this novel, I will be buying all of your future novels. I finished the book a few minutes ago and I loved every minute of reading it. Your words kept me hooked from chapter 1 until the final chapter.

    Keep up the great work!

P.S - You need to make this a movie!

  • @Jaydoba Thanks James! I'm thrilled that you liked it! I'd love to see this book as a movie too. I wonder how we could get the attention of some film producers? And who would we cast as who? That would be one of the hardest parts. Anyway, thanks for reading!

  • Got the book this afternoon and I'm already more than halfway through. It's driving me crazy. Please get a movie deal now. Please.

  • @splitz2008 I would love to see it as a movie, especially if I get to pick the actors. :) I hope you like the second half just as much!

  • @JayBellBooks Just messaged you. =D And hey, you don't need to beg. I'd be MORE THAN WILLING to be one of those actors! lol

  • I just got the book in the mail and about to read it! Can't wait!!!

  • @OhLittleSparrow I hope you enjoy it! I always get excited but nervous when I hear someone is starting. LOL

  • I looooove this book! :) Man, you are amazing with words! The text seems so easy to flow, the characters are lovable and interesting and there is so much drama!!! Love it! :) There was one moment, I just shut the book because I was not able to take anymore what was happening to the characters... all of them became my friends, so each time some of the got hurt, I got hurt. Btw - is there going to be a sequel? Or maybe another book from the perspective of Tim? I would love that!!!

  • @ogzot Thanks Alex! I fell in love with the characters too. When I finished writing it I had the urge to pick up the phone and call Ben and the others, but of course none of them are real. I had that same feeling during every edit too. A book from Tim's perspective is an interesting idea. I think that would make people understand his actions more, since Tim really does have a lot of love inside of him, but a lot of fear as well. There are some other stories I want to write first, but who knows!

  • @JayBellBooks Thanks for answering my post! :) I am looking forward to the stories you are wanting to tell! Btw - I have just bought The Cat in the Cradle... you seem to be becoming one of those authors I buy instantly there is a new book out... and even that the start of the book seemed quite bumpy and maybe too immediate without an intro to this specific fantasy world, I am falling in love with it too... :D You make it so easy! Thanks!

  • Congrats! As soon as I finish The Cat in the Cradle I'll try and convince my parents to buy me this book (I'm really broke but if I do well on finals they'll probably buy it for me.) I can't wait!

  • @Soccerfan217 Good luck on your finals then. I have my fingers crossed for you!

  • I've already read it 3 times...I just fall in love with it more and more every time. You rock, JB!

    ♥ you madly...

    Kira (AKA the "original" Allison!)

  • @kirakakelady Without you, no one would know what Allison looks like. I hereby dub thee "Allison's Champion!"

  • I just bought you're book I hope its good!

  • Good luck! Wonderful accomplishment!

  • @StraightActingGayGuy Thanks Erik. I hope life in Germany has been good to you so far!

  • @TheHappyLittleBee I won't tell if you need to rob a bank. ;)

  • Just reading the first paragraph and seeing the cover art ... sold =)

  • @guyofthelostforest Hey, love at first sight then. Excellent!

  • I'm interested and bought the book! Now the long wait untill it gets here in Belgium from the USA...

  • @janaxis I'm in Germany, and I've noticed ten days is about average. Hope yours comes even quicker. Thanks for giving it a shot!

  • This seems like a great book, Jay. I just purchased the eBook version and cannot wait to read it! keep up the great work, you're an amazing author.

  • @Jaydoba Thanks James! I hope you enjoy it!

  • I neeed it. And I love you because there needs to be more books like this out. I am going to attempt to get this somehow.

  • @kplady13 Check those couch cushions for some spare change! ;) Love you too!

  • love reading the first 4 chapter of something like summer . now i have to go and buy it now so i can read it al

  • Oh my gosh, I just read all 4 chapters online and I'm addicted. Buying the book soon! I have to know what happens!

  • @OhLittleSparrow I'm glad I could seduce you with the sample chapters. ^_^ Thanks for checking them out!

  • Congratulations! Definitely going to purchase it. I agree with you about sex in some books. One of the only cases where I like the movie better than the book is Jaws. There is a sex scene in the book between the marine biologist and the sheriff's wife. It's very peculiar in that it has nothing to do with the rest of the book. Like an editor told him he needed to add a sex scene. What is your next book about?

  • @onyxman8 What's the next book about? Oh, man. Trick question. I actually have two manuscripts done and keep debating which one to push forward. Uh, ask me again in a few weeks. ;)

  • omgomgomg :) wonderful, i think i will buy them both for my birthday that's in like a few weeks :)

i am glad that the sex stuff is tasteful, coz you see some gay books and it has writhing naked men on the cover, and yh, just OTT.

So am getting yours though my dear ^_^

    <3<3<3

  • @gothrock88 We must have close birthdays because mine's not too far away either. I know what you mean with the naked dudes on covers. You know what kind of book you're getting with those. :P

  • @JayBellBooks they are only like 3 days apart :) mine's on the 16th

yh, defo :/ can't wait to get your though ^_^

    xx

  • YAY,

    I'm so proud of u :)

  • im excited! im totally ordering it :) ill let you know when im done!!

  • @Peachk33n Thanks! It should be showing up on Amazon Canada in a few weeks. It always takes awhile longer to show up in international systems, at least when it comes to the print version.

  • I am looking forward to reading it.

  • @glbtqplaylist Thanks!

  • COOL!! I definitely gonna buy it.

  • @aznguymetal I hope you enjoy it!

  • First comment: think i might look at ur books actually, not wat i usually read but look pretty good

  • @kwallb44 What do you usually read? Maybe I'll write that type of book next. ;)
