i need help despratley if you are interested in helping me anyway my problem is that i am making a new abe oddysee game i have the sprites and everything but i want to know how to make my character walk through a door i have tried everything but i don't know how so any help at all please? basically i want it so that when he is stood infront of the door i press up and it goes through the door thank you much appriciated =P

@DKC1011 He is a very bright kid i agree, although, game maker is no-where near as tough as really coding and writing scripts for games, the real work, not trying to put anyone down here, but.. It is very challenging to learn about programming, and even though he is very good with game maker, it could take years to actually start designing real video games.

me and my friend, using his compute made an FPS game using C++.

OMG, it took us like a year to make and the game turned out shit (i apolagize for the language). i mean by that the kid started very young, and obviously has a passion for game making. and i belive if your pasionate about somthing, the sky is the limit!, i know thats sounds cheesy

@DKC1011 No not cheesy you're absolutely right, he do whatever he sets his mind to, the kid does seem to have potential, although he doesn't know quite how to code things, he does like to learn about making games, and for that I'm sure he can learn to make real games if he sets his mind to it.

These tutorials ARE the best, and quite understandable.

I recall myself discovering Game Maker when I was in the 5th grade about 3 years ago. All my games (Unfinished games that is. x.x;) were made the "ghetto" way with no use of varibles. I never even knew what they were for.

Now I can finally make them the correct way.

So thanks for these simple tutorials.

Also, would you by chance know anything about creating fighting games with game maker? Say, MK II style?
