Personally, I would very much like to see how the very definition of darkness that Gabriel has become would fare against the armies of Lucifer, while have witty, passive-aggressive banter with Zobek, all set in the modern era. But I don't see that happening in the foreseeable future, so yeah... It is a nice relaxing tune, though. Perfect for possibly the most annoying part of the game.

@DarcAbyss I didn't find it annoying at all. It was, perhaps, the most refreshing bit of platform originality to grace a game since the SNES days. It felt entirely new, fun, and a nod to the past all at once. If only other developers were so creative with their games.

@jesusmurderer01 If you played any of the older games, you know that Dracula was actually Mathias Cronqvist (whatever), not Gabriel. Also they gave Gabriel the name Belmont by the mountain he liked, he was not from the Belmont Clan. Even so, this game was not meant to carry on the story of the earlier games, instead to restart the series.

see i wish they still had classic songs like this in the game. It gave me more of a "castlevania" feeling when this was playing. Some of the music throughout the game didn't really give me the feeling of the popular franchise. Dont get me wrong though its a great game and everything, I just wished that some of the popular songs could of been added to the game. Think about it, if this theme was the best song in the game imagine how much better the game would be if they added the classics...

i had mixed feeling about this game, at first i thought that indeed it was just a god of war-like game and pretty cheap at its gameplay, but as time passed it grew into a much better game, i loved it, gameplaywise, storywise not to mention music, plus it had the replay level option which allowed you to not just finish the game and never see it again but to challenge yourself, i do understand all the hating but it is an amazing game not to be compared with the cheap GOW

@BrownBear725 It's not the same as the original, some of the notes are quite different and it's played on a piano. It's still recognizable as Vampire Killer though, at least to me. Especially the part at 0:14, 0:56 and 1:39.

Played through this part yesterday. First 10 seconds of the song and I'm going "It's the first Castlevania!" It's a bit off-tune at parts (I'm off course aware of the fact they have changed the notes a bit) but it's such a great nostalgy. The first song you ever hear in Castlevania, and what would be better way to cherish it than include in it minor plot device, which only those who were there with Castlevania at the start would cherish.

Being a 20+ year follower of Konami, Iga, and Castlevania, hearing this track while playing Lords of Shadow hit me hard, in a big way. Not only was I impressed with the execution of this timeless game soundtrack classic, but the way it was implemented directly to the game gave 5 year old Me the biggest smile he's had in a very long tme.

When I heard this music box, I flipped out. I was ecstatic to hear this song. Yet, if you asked me to hum one musical tune from LoS, I couldn't do it.

While I appreciate the musical score in this game, I really do miss the classic "powerful" songs we used to hear in game soundtracks.

Everyone knows the songs from Super Castlevania and the NES versions.... The music is part of the reason we have such fond memories of them.

@GallowsGallery Same, people always go on about how they want a full orchestral soundtrack, but I don't know why.  Theres some nice bits in LOS, but nothing you can hum along too. It is just too relaxed, and full of the choir like vocals...I want proper themes like Vampire Killer, and new classics with some power to them. So much great music in 4 could have been upscaled in to LOS. No reason full orchestra has to mean tuneless...

@Sciasjin those sound regardless of what you do, its the background because the notes trigger traps on the level. they sound throughout the music box. So there isn't anything he can do about the background sounds, just get used to it.. I give him props for having the only good version of it.

IIRC, the only soundtrack disc I've read about came with a special edition of the game. This soundtrack only contained some of the music from the game.

I guess they didn't add it that disc so as to 'surprise' players when they reach that part of the game.
