Thanks Andy. See you are doing some interesting stuff too. I have not yet managed to burn rectifiers or diodes as the wind here has died down somewhat. I really need to go up much higher weher there is more constant wind...some day. For now I am more focused on Solar Power which is more reliable here in Kingston Jamaica. What brand GT Inverter are you using on your turbine?
great mill, well balanced & true from you comments , sounds to be diameter true to the stator power, u mention hot wires, know watt you mean, cooked mine a few times on the learning curve all seem to have sorted now wire wise now started cooking bridge rectifiers & blocking diodes. 6.5mm wire and 100A blockers and 50A bridge rectifiers now with heat sinks, got my self a 1000 Wall grid tied inverter which I now sell with my mills, needs it can be stacked 3KW I can knock out 2.8 KW
nice turbine!! what is the ticking- clicking sound in the background... is that the turbine blades? I tooks pretty fast.... do you have any data from it?
The noise in the background is from my neighbour's lawn mower. The blades are very quite. The output is at200 RPM, 18.5 VDC @ 13.25AMPS. I have recorded a peak of 64 VDC but couln not measure the Amperes...wires got too hot.
@gregorygauntlett - you said the New Kingston area... so it's a commercial property you are using it on? How much of your electrical needs are you able to satisfy? Keep up the good work!
The wind here in New Kingston is really on the low side hence the choice of the "WindGrabber" blades which gets started at about 2.5 mph. The tower is 28 feet from ground. I plan to increase it's height soon.
jah man! Looks great. Well built. Wish I was in Jamaica. Keep an eye on that hub, mine bent. Personally I think they should have used a thicker steel.

do u use batteries to store any of this?
maddocc1 1 year ago
@maddocc1 Yes, the turbine maintains eight T-105 (225ah) batteries used only for stand by backup power.

Seems like you're getting a decent amount of wind. How high is your tower?

Mine were Hyperspins. High winds actually bent the hub tips backwards. Not a lot but just an FYI.
