@JackHighlander What type of doctor would tell you to eat meat? I'm Vegetarian since 20 years and guess what? I am 20 years old. @LuckyBangLoc don't worry, i'm not listening to the shit i'm hearing from you. by the way, i didn't say i agree with his doctors. actually, funny you say that, as paul mccartney of the beatles wrote the dalai lama, urging him to return to strict vegetarianism. the dalai lama wrote him that his doctors said he needed meat. paul wrote him back to tell him they were wrong. haha!

So you better grow DOWN from your high seat you fucking piece of shit.
@AlphaFirefly I just realized I am talking to a total numbskull, who shouts, calls people names, and is a socially unacceptable person. Have you a good day in your underworld!

Socially unacceptable? Omg such insult! I have never read such a foul word! You damn disgusting son of a bitch! xD Look at you trying to act all mature, its not called mature, its called an OLD bastard.
You are just running away from a argument you lost long ago.
@AlphaFirefly I understand that their purpose of attacking us is for feeding purposes. Nonetheless if you have fifty or so landing on you and drawing your blood leaving itchy welts on you, then it's an attack. The same goes for flies, that spread disease! And yes, I do eat meat from the grocery store where it comes nicely packaged and I don't have to kill it myself. If I HAD to kill it myself I couldn't. Vegetables are inanimate objects you can't kill them.
@Nevermore1953 Vegetables are living beings composed of living, breathing cells and dna you dumbshit!
And of course you could not kill it yourself you fucking hypocrite, just like Lama you expect others to take care of the shit for you so you can reap the "reward" and keep talking about your shitty "peace spreading and love"
If fifthy mosquitoes are hungry, its still feeding bitch! Disease is part of the order of nature, without it we would all be dead.
@AlphaFirefly Vegetables are not "beings". That is a hollow argument. They do not have a central nervous system or a brain. Are leaves, fruits and nuts "beings"?
@Nevermore1953 Fifhy hunters throwing spears to kill an elephant, in order to feed, YEAH WE ARE NOT THAT FuCKING DIFFERENT, and in your case the mosquito is both smarter and less annoying.
He is a fruad before he was exiled he lived in luxury and power and had servants who lived in shitholes and if they didnt obey him they were tortured.
If I get attacked I fight back! Simple as that! A mosquito physically attacks humans, a fly in my house that lands on my food after feeding on feces outside attacks me as well. So both are prey in my house. I don't kill anything else, not spiders nor snakes not even aphids ruining my roses and fruit trees (I let ladybugs do the nasty deed), and if meet supply at the grocery store ever runs out I won't go hunting my own. I'll become vegetarian.
@Nevermore1953 They do not attack us for the sake of attacking, but for the sake of feeding, do you eat meat? You know the meat is "attacked" before it hits your plate right?
And if you eat vegetables only, you also "attack" the three, eating its children, and who is not to say they do not feel pain?
So who cares what practices of peace you perform, your "dear" Lama has attacked and killed people.
thou shall not kill,, doesnt mean death shuldnt happen,,death is part of the cycle, merely that if you kill maliciously or carelessly,, that negative energy will come back to burn you, lifew and death is the cycle,, but while you live,, and until you die,, your asked to be as nice as you can,, you still gotta eat,, and fpor that somethings must die,,the cycle turns again,, its nature baby,, cant fight it,, you might dislike killing but without the nessesary,, the unnessesary will rule.
@BigJasonStud Are you saying it is correct to kill in the name of good? In that case what the world needs is a better definition of good (which is shitty anyways).
So if I say, disliked your comment, and thought the world would be a better place without you, would that make it a good thing to kill you?
Who is to claim what is necessary and what is not?
Lastly, just because death should not happen, does in no way mean killing is okay.
@AlphaFirefly Make that: Just because death should happen, yes death is natural, killing in the name of good can be justified with about everything, there are always good and bad reasons things happen.
Yes, this is inaccurately titled. That much said, Thich Nhat Hanh once pointed out that vegetarians shouldn't feel too proud, because the vegetables die, and many germs die when you boil water. Unfortunately, in this world, killing -- even if it's minute germs -- is inevitable. About mosquitos, I once saw a science program that said mosquitos have caused more human deaths than any animal, and so if one lands on you -- you should kill it, and by doing so you may save your life and many others'!
@rty2ful So you didn't know that before the Chinese "annextion", the Dailai lama forcefully put the entire population of Tibet in a state of slavery and lived with hundreds of servants in a giant mansion? And also that he uses the majority of money he tricks out of the pocket from suckers like you to pay for guerilla training camps... -_^
@cocacolaligification Get your facts from somewhere other than the CCP propoganda department. The dalai lama was 15 years old when he was enthroned a year AFTER the chinese invasion!!
@cocacolaligification actually m also a lama,a musician and a theoritical physicist. so I dont have time to know all these things, thanks seems you are a historian
It's an irony that there's a lot of squabbling underneath a video of the Dalai Lama.
I watched the video because I was very suprised by the title. I didn't believe the Dalai Lama had killed an insect.
The interviewer says he (the interviewer) has killed one. It's common enough (though unnecessary and a little immature I think) but it's not consistent with Buddhism, to say the least!
@cunnidvd So is acting like a teenage troll and insulting others on YouTube is just a reflection of your state of mind? You say the effect of an action in the world is irrelevant. I disagree and said so. I admit I wasn't expecting a response like that. I received an email with your comment before you edited it, also, by the way.
@rmilrta you must be nuts to hear a fellow like this, he keeps becoming American and British by the day and his opinion on every thing that's happening in the world as if he is a the know all and end all of every thing in life get a life lama,.. you are just a man like all others ,... get a life man
@eviltube1111 Yes that's surely an essential point, but it's a bad intention because you want to bring about something bad in the world - that's your intention. And I think we can say if you carry out that intention something changes for the worse in the world. That doesn't take away from the importance of the intention. I was responding to a comment which claimed that the effect in the world was neither good nor bad.
he is saying the way he treats the mosquito is related to his mood. his mood is related to how well he is treating himself. killing a mosquito is a reflection of not treating yourself well.
I'm not sure he was saying kill it just flick it but that might kill it and that's not a great example. My teacher said to me about mosquito's 'that's your mother from a past life who gave you everything the least you can do is give her some blood now' I think he has the greatest wisdom. All life is precious, some times we can not avoid killing but we must always try our best to avoid it as every living being wants to live and be happy in that we are all equal.
Yogananda's guru Sri Yukteswar gave a good answer to this. He said that if in the person's mind the intent to kill the mosquito had already flashed across their consciousness, they may as well finish the job. Real 'ahimsa' or perfection in non-violence, implies removal of the desire to kill. Sometimes in life its unavoidable to kill pests or perhaps other animals which can pose a threat to our health or even life; the key is in moving beyond the anger or the impulse to kill, even if we have to.
@whatyouchating I'm always amused when feeble-minded poor-educated wiseacre throws the "logic" bone. Logic is merely a point of view, heavily dependent on persons character, education and intention.
What evidence for frozen Antarctica you have? Pictures? Well, I'm afraid that there's more evidence for Godzilla and King Kong.
Your "BLIND ASSERTION" is that you chose to believe in your own extremely limited KNOWLEDGE, if I can dare to call it such.
I'd say that it's not relative from a sentential logic perspective, considering that it is essentially just mathematics. However, the use like that in conversation could be, in a way. In the end, though, it can always be put through the paces in math. Pleasure speaking with you.
@aClockworkBoec Something like, where P is one statement and Q is another statement, you could have an argument like PvQ, P->~Q, then therefore ~P&(QvP). You can determine whether that is logically sound or not; there is no point of view on that. If your point of view doesn't match the math, you would be wrong. There is no relativity. However, you're speaking about it as being used in daily speech, as in "stop being so illogical!" These statements can be calculated, they just usually aren't.
I don't know what else you want. That's pretty much exactly what logic is; perhaps you never studied it. You can be miserable and negative as much as you want, but don't try to drag everyone else down with you. It just won't work.
@projectbaum Your "logic" is immature, shallow, and very amusing (at least to me). What would you know what "miserable and negative" really is? Huh? You think you know me? You think you know yourself? You think you know structures and mechanisms of societies and life itself?
The "you think you know me?" argumentative standpoint is the pocket shot of teenage girls. Your frustration will not convince me that you know any more than I, but you can still hurt yourself by behaving that way. As for "my logic," is it pure and unwaivering, as it is mathematical. Yours is subjective and incalculable, though that will not stop me from trying.
@projectbaum "argumentative standpoint is the pocket shot of teenage girls"? Really? Which teenage girl used that argument? You?
"frustration"? What would that be?
"pure and unwaivering, as it is mathematical"? Well, of course it is. And you will live to reap its fruits, if the taste is bitter, please don't be frustrated.
And please don't be frustrated because of your inability to provide at least one example of your "sentential logic perspective", if there is one.
I've already provided an example of how I view the situation using logic. You just refuse to accept it. And don't you worry about that fruit; bitter is my favorite.
@projectbaum Maybe I visit you in your imagination land where there is no difference between theory and practice, but I highly doubt that I will ever be that feebleminded.
Bitter is your favorite, huh? So that is how you cope with frustration? This sado-mazohistic side of your mind is a new thing for me.
Actually, it'd just be "masochistic." Sadism is the desire to cause harm to others, whereas masochism is the desire to cause harm to yourself. But preferring bitter flavors is not masochism. Have you ever had your coffee black?
And yeah, come on over. I'd love for you to visit Imagination Land. We could slide down the rainbow slide and pick some sweets in the candy field and put theory to practice by applying it to real life, just like all the scientists do.
@projectbaum No sadism? Really? Many people thought similar, but in situations where they had power over fellow human beings (such as war time), they become parasites who feed on other people's pain and misery.
"preferring bitter flavors is not masochism"? I'm afraid it is. Bitter = pain => love for pain = masochism
"your coffee black"? Why do you assume that I ever tasted coffee?
I see that Imagination Land is a fun place, let me know when you have courage for the real world.
You really seem to be grasping at straws here, so I think I'll let you go now. Only someone with nothing left to do but argue with strangers on the internet would try to make a connection like bitter coffee and war to further their point. I hope you find whatever bleak sort of battle you're looking for.
"assertions", huh? I'm afraid that it is your problem. I "Don't need it.", simple because I know it, you are the one who lives in ignorance.
"contradicts your belief"? Do you believe that Antarctica is the frozen continent? Or do you know it? But if you know it, how do you know it if you weren't there?
"blind assertion"? Ah, the IRONY. Where is you proof? Or do you only have BLIND ASSERTION?
"logical"? What is that?
DMT? Ah, you maybe don't know but man is a triune being.
@whatyouchating Of course that christians are not the only one who have near death experience. Many people do, but most of those who are not christians became christians. Muslims are liars, simple because Muhammad ordered them to lie in order to propagate islam.
You ever heard about buddhist monk Athet Pyan Shinthaw Paulu? NO? Well, start researching, or else YOURS inconsistency with reality will will turn out to be a HELLISH mistake.
@whatyouchating Believe?! NO. I know it, because God says so, and because we have near death experiences where people reported that everybody who dies without being saved by the blood of Christ, goes to hell for eternity.

fraud fuck piece of shit saying hes more moral than most mor humble yet call himself holiness goes on tv aaaaargh when jesus cimes back hes gonna kick this guys ass
@carpet691 first of all i doubt he refers to himself as holiness its a title others have given him and what he was saying in the interview is that he does flick mosquitoes away and that he isn't better than anyone else or moral just different and secondly you are clearly not very clear on what and who Jesus is because he isn't the ass kicking type and the dalai lamas devotes himself to teaching others how to better themselves and the world something im pretty sure jesus would be ok with.
Great answers and questions by everyone but to put things in simple perspective no one is 100% sure of what will become after we pass to the great unknown but know this we all want happiness and freedom from suffering...no one wants to die or suffer including animals as well. Simple put all beings tremble before their deaths, live and let live :)
@AscendingParadigm well, according to most asian believes, we people reincarnate, not just as a human being, but also as animals. The mosquito you kill, could potentialy be your dead grandfather or something. Therefor to most of those religions killing an animal is a sin.
@JoeyPsych If the dead grandmother reincarnated into a mosquito, then was killed again, what's the big deal? She get's a new life as something else, likely something that isn't flying around irritating people. If everything has a soul and reincarnates, and it is a sin for humans to kill, all souls being equal, why would it be okay for an animal to kill another animal or insect to kill another insect?
@AscendingParadigm I'm not saying I don't agree, but remember, this isn't my religion. I didn't come up with these ideas, I just explain why it is wrong to kill a mosquito according to their religion.
@JoeyPsych I figured that wasn't your position but I was wondering if there was any more depth to the idea, past the first level of rational inquiry. Connecting the most basic of logical dots within one's life philosophy apparently isn't a value to the majority of us.
@AscendingParadigm truth be told, there is a lot of dept actualy to these ideas. It's to much unfortunatly to explain in one comment. That said, I think that it's even so much that you can study religion(s) at universities. I wanted to do this when I was younger, but these days I find that it doesn't matter what you believe, as long as you respect yourself and everyone around you. And in that perspective I understand the respect for animals.
@Glovefullavasoline From what I understand all living things fall into a category. It goes something like; Narakas (people who live in 'hell'), animals/beasts, human beings, Asuras (immoral, demons etc) and lastly Budha (an enlighted one, something like a saint). The interesting thing is you don't necesarily need to be in hell to be a Naraka, you can be in hell while still on earth, figuritively. If you get what I mean. Same with animal, so you can be 'reborn' in a lifetime from one to another.
@Glovefullavasoline No, not recarnation, they believe in rebirth. Significant difference, with rebirth you can even be reborn in the same life.. Some Buddhists believe that when you die you come back in but your sould doesn't transfer.
Hahaha, some people don't understand buddhism. It is not a hippy religion, its a combination or realism and idealistic perception. To kill a mosquito doesn't mean anything
¡Es genial!, para todo tiene una respuesta positiva...

And of course you could not kill it yourself you fucking hypocrite, just like Lama you expect others to take care of the shit for you so you can reap the "reward" and keep talking about your shitty "peace spreading and love"

BigJasonStud 1 month ago
@BigJasonStud Are you saying it is correct to kill in the name of good? In that case what the world needs is a better definition of good (which is shitty anyways).
So if I say, disliked your comment, and thought the world would be a better place without you, would that make it a good thing to kill you?
Who is to claim what is necessary and what is not?
Lastly, just because death should not happen, does in no way mean killing is okay.
AlphaFirefly 1 month ago
@AlphaFirefly Make that: Just because death should happen, yes death is natural, killing in the name of good can be justified with about everything, there are always good and bad reasons things happen.
AlphaFirefly 1 month ago
Yes, this is inaccurately titled. That much said, Thich Nhat Hanh once pointed out that vegetarians shouldn't feel too proud, because the vegetables die, and many germs die when you boil water. Unfortunately, in this world, killing -- even if it's minute germs -- is inevitable. About mosquitos, I once saw a science program that said mosquitos have caused more human deaths than any animal, and so if one lands on you -- you should kill it, and by doing so you may save your life and many others'!

@rmilrta It's bad because you have a bad intention in your mind when killing something.
eviltube1111 1 month ago
@eviltube1111 Yes that's surely an essential point, but it's a bad intention because you want to bring about something bad in the world - that's your intention. And I think we can say if you carry out that intention something changes for the worse in the world. That doesn't take away from the importance of the intention. I was responding to a comment which claimed that the effect in the world was neither good nor bad.
rmilrta 1 month ago
he is saying the way he treats the mosquito is related to his mood. his mood is related to how well he is treating himself. killing a mosquito is a reflection of not treating yourself well.
cunnidvd 1 month ago

Your "BLIND ASSERTION" is that you chose to believe in your own extremely limited KNOWLEDGE, if I can dare to call it such.
aClockworkBoec 2 months ago
@aClockworkBoec
I guess sentential and quantifier logic don't matter towards countering the supposed relativity of logic, eh?
projectbaum 2 months ago
@projectbaum The logical answer would be "yes" and "no".
aClockworkBoec 2 months ago
@aClockworkBoec
I'd say that it's not relative from a sentential logic perspective, considering that it is essentially just mathematics. However, the use like that in conversation could be, in a way. In the end, though, it can always be put through the paces in math. Pleasure speaking with you.
projectbaum 2 months ago
@projectbaum Life isn't a calculus. The mathematics which you are referring is NOT plausible for human life. Life itself is far more complex.
Why don't you give me an example of "sentential logic perspective"?
aClockworkBoec 2 months ago
@aClockworkBoec Something like, where P is one statement and Q is another statement, you could have an argument like PvQ, P->~Q, then therefore ~P&(QvP). You can determine whether that is logically sound or not; there is no point of view on that. If your point of view doesn't match the math, you would be wrong. There is no relativity. However, you're speaking about it as being used in daily speech, as in "stop being so illogical!" These statements can be calculated, they just usually aren't.
projectbaum 2 months ago
@projectbaum That supposed to be an example?
aClockworkBoec 1 month ago
@aClockworkBoec
I don't know what else you want. That's pretty much exactly what logic is; perhaps you never studied it. You can be miserable and negative as much as you want, but don't try to drag everyone else down with you. It just won't work.
projectbaum 1 month ago
@projectbaum Your "logic" is immature, shallow, and very amusing (at least to me). What would you know what "miserable and negative" really is? Huh? You think you know me? You think you know yourself? You think you know structures and mechanisms of societies and life itself?
aClockworkBoec 1 month ago
@aClockworkBoec
The "you think you know me?" argumentative standpoint is the pocket shot of teenage girls. Your frustration will not convince me that you know any more than I, but you can still hurt yourself by behaving that way. As for "my logic," is it pure and unwaivering, as it is mathematical. Yours is subjective and incalculable, though that will not stop me from trying.
projectbaum 1 month ago
@projectbaum "argumentative standpoint is the pocket shot of teenage girls"? Really? Which teenage girl used that argument? You?
"frustration"? What would that be?
"pure and unwaivering, as it is mathematical"? Well, of course it is. And you will live to reap its fruits, if the taste is bitter, please don't be frustrated.
And please don't be frustrated because of your inability to provide at least one example of your "sentential logic perspective", if there is one.
aClockworkBoec 1 month ago
@aClockworkBoec
I've already provided an example of how I view the situation using logic. You just refuse to accept it. And don't you worry about that fruit; bitter is my favorite.
projectbaum 1 month ago
@projectbaum Maybe I visit you in your imagination land where there is no difference between theory and practice, but I highly doubt that I will ever be that feebleminded.
Bitter is your favorite, huh? So that is how you cope with frustration? This sado-mazohistic side of your mind is a new thing for me.
aClockworkBoec 1 month ago
@aClockworkBoec
We could slide down the rainbow slide and pick some sweets in the candy field and put theory to practice by applying it to real life, just like all the scientists do.
projectbaum 1 month ago
@projectbaum No sadism? Really? Many people thought similar, but in situations where they had power over fellow human beings (such as war time), they become parasites who feed on other people's pain and misery.
"preferring bitter flavors is not masochism"? I'm afraid it is. Bitter = pain => love for pain = masochism
"your coffee black"? Why do you assume that I ever tasted coffee?
I see that Imagination Land is a fun place, let me know when you have courage for the real world.
aClockworkBoec 1 month ago
@aClockworkBoec
You really seem to be grasping at straws here, so I think I'll let you go now. Only someone with nothing left to do but argue with strangers on the internet would try to make a connection like bitter coffee and war to further their point. I hope you find whatever bleak sort of battle you're looking for.

"blind assertion"? Ah, the IRONY. Where is you proof? Or do you only have BLIND ASSERTION?

what exactly is wrong with killing a mosquito?
AscendingParadigm 3 months ago
@AscendingParadigm well, according to most asian believes, we people reincarnate, not just as a human being, but also as animals. The mosquito you kill, could potentialy be your dead grandfather or something. Therefor to most of those religions killing an animal is a sin.
JoeyPsych 3 months ago
@JoeyPsych If the dead grandmother reincarnated into a mosquito, then was killed again, what's the big deal? She get's a new life as something else, likely something that isn't flying around irritating people. If everything has a soul and reincarnates, and it is a sin for humans to kill, all souls being equal, why would it be okay for an animal to kill another animal or insect to kill another insect?
AscendingParadigm 3 months ago
@AscendingParadigm I'm not saying I don't agree, but remember, this isn't my religion. I didn't come up with these ideas, I just explain why it is wrong to kill a mosquito according to their religion.
JoeyPsych 3 months ago
@JoeyPsych I figured that wasn't your position but I was wondering if there was any more depth to the idea, past the first level of rational inquiry. Connecting the most basic of logical dots within one's life philosophy apparently isn't a value to the majority of us.
AscendingParadigm 3 months ago
@AscendingParadigm truth be told, there is a lot of dept actualy to these ideas. It's to much unfortunatly to explain in one comment. That said, I think that it's even so much that you can study religion(s) at universities. I wanted to do this when I was younger, but these days I find that it doesn't matter what you believe, as long as you respect yourself and everyone around you. And in that perspective I understand the respect for animals.
JoeyPsych 2 months ago
@Glovefullavasoline From what I understand all living things fall into a category. It goes something like; Narakas (people who live in 'hell'), animals/beasts, human beings, Asuras (immoral, demons etc) and lastly Budha (an enlighted one, something like a saint). The interesting thing is you don't necesarily need to be in hell to be a Naraka, you can be in hell while still on earth, figuritively. If you get what I mean. Same with animal, so you can be 'reborn' in a lifetime from one to another.
ALLDAYERRYDAYLEGIT 3 months ago
@Glovefullavasoline No, not recarnation, they believe in rebirth. Significant difference, with rebirth you can even be reborn in the same life.. Some Buddhists believe that when you die you come back in but your sould doesn't transfer.
