i'm from WYCHK - that's the school performing right after your school, playing the freaky 'sinfonia'. (so i actually watched you guys at the backstage through the television only... anyway it was great, wasn't it? )
i remember playing this in Gifted Suburban Orchestra with other gifted musicians from other middle schools as a bassist. we played at rockwood. very fun! I still got the music, the bass solo was hard to learn then, but that was like two years ago and now its a piece a cake
My Highschool orchestra played in a national even at the Kennedy Center last year, we took Superior in the Nation. I really wish we had played this there though. Love this song.
it sounds a lot better slower this way, its real crisp sounding. my school did it a little faster but thats because our teacher is a little out there haha. but well done :)
Jig sounds better fast-thats why its called a fuckin JIG !!!. . How can anyone who claims to be into classical not hear that this is too SLOOOOOW!!!-Open your ears and your SOUL for fuck sake!!
yeah, regardless of what the correct tempo should be, i'm so glad i finally found a performance where the jig isn't ridiculously fast. you enjoy the notes better when it's a bit slower. great performance! i played this in school too, one of my favorite pieces.
Actually, those aren't violas on the end, they're the second violins...
It's another way to set up the orchestra. Sometimes if the violins have lines that are exchanging, it's cool to have the first violins opposite the second violins on the outside, then on the inside... have the cellos next to the 1st violins and the violas next to the 2nd violins.
It's a pretty standard arrangement for string orchestra. You'll probably see it again someday.
this is not how it was set up during baroque times! you are about 200 years off! this was written in 1912 and was published in 1922. it is supposed to be around 120-140 bpm!!
I understand it was written in 1912 and all that, but during Baroque times, Orchestras had this kind of set up. With the violins, violas, cellos, and 2nds. I think you took my comment in another understanding. Im talking about the orchestra positions!
too slow. we play 0.5 times faster

My middle school is playing this piece and it is pretty hard. I play the cello and I think that playing in the tenor clef is difficult but fun. :)

Just wondering. Why are the violas on the end and the cellos in the middle? At my school the cellos (which i am a part of) are at the end.
