when are you americans going to learn to use concrete and ciment blocks and columns, a litlle strong wind and say goodbye to your garage and house by the way ... just simply stupid
@hondatrx250cc yeah you can tell by seeing all the blown down houses huh? I drive all over my state and see plenty of houses standing nice and strong some new some old but all STANDING! you make no sense but thanks for playing!
@hondatrx250cc retard!! Wood houses are WAY better then concrete , These are earthquake and wind cement blocks and columns are 3rd world technology dumb ass...
Cool. i want to build my own and I can't imagine it's THAT complicated. I noticed that you didn't connect the garage to the foundation. Is that common? I got a quote to build a similar garage for $15K. I laughed in their face.
I'm sure they were honest and with several employees getting $30/hour or whatever that's what they wanted. But jeesus, what are the costs of the raw materials, like $2-3K? Max?
@YTSparty My brother inlaw just put one up. I think it was 28x32 with 12 foot cielings and a usable second floor. He had $28k all together. Thats foundation, materials, and labor... Although it was just him and a carpenter building it. I think he said materials were like 12 or 15 thousand.
@YTSparty I doubt they showed that but generally every 4' or so there is a concrete anchor coming up through your bottom plate on your walls. And no it's not hard at all. Materials are actually cheap, it's the labor, paying a contractor and team to come out and do it. If you and a buddy are doing it, it's very inexpensive. Skimp on labor by doing it yourself, but don't skimp on materials or engineering.
I was just wondering how much did you spend in materials.. Great video and good job on the garage. Six hours is Awesome job. I know too many people who would just poke around and take weeks!
You should put on the description that you need the concrete base you are working on. If not, people they are going to think that they can do that right on their back yards...
approx how much did it cost? as what it finished with at the end with no siding/ no shingles/ no garage door/ door/ window.? just basically for the wood.?
HOW COME I CANT FIND GOOD WORKING KIDS LIKE THIS IN FLORIDA . HERE IN FLORIDA THEY ARE ALL CRACKED OUT ON PILLS THESE KIDS MUST BE FROM PENNSYLVANIA UP NORTH SOMEWERE GREAT FAST WORK
nicely done, but just wondering if it was a good idea to lay your walls on the ground without a foundation? aren't you worry about water accumulation ?
Cheap and cheerful. This is the modern method of construction but if you want something that will last you are better off using traditional timber frame construction, post and beam style.
betty, tyvek is just a name brand moisture barrier. It allows moisture out but not in. ;) These guys did a great job. They can always make nice money doing that.
just wanted to say, GOOD JOB!!! my husband is a stone mason who has been putting off HIS garage (his storage space, i might add...) for QUITE SOME TIME NOW! he is now ready to get going! haha... anyway, very helpful... good job guys... good work recognized by me (besides other girlie details, of course :)... but great!
If you look at minute 1:40 you can see my brother mike holding up the door header. We used an engineered Timberstrand header. 3.5" thick, 9.25" high and 9'9" long. Probably overkill for a small 9' wide door, with a gable roof, but we only build the best.
Yes it is wooden, just like every other residential garage and home. What do you build your garages out of? Read the video description to find out how long it took us and at what speed the video is running.
in the UK. I havent seen anybody putting cars in the wooden garages, they are made out of metal or bricks, so it looked quite strange to me in the first place when i said "a WOODEN garage lol" because i thought that if it is wooden then you would keep tools only in it. my bad

oh right under 6 hours :) still quite fast
the thing with "garage" is that we call them sheds over here
lioshenka 4 years ago
where is "over here"? In Canada if you put a vehicle in it then it is a garage. If you put tools in it then it is a shed.
eyeguy22182 4 years ago
