I am a young man of Columbian descent, not an old white man. I have seen more than my fair share of Harleys through my so far short life, probobly because I live in the Milwaukee area. Now every year there is a mass migration of Harley owners to Milwaukee, and frankly there is nothing like the sound of a Harley on a cool summer night, it's rather soothing. Whereas with sportsbikes all you do is end up covering your ears from the sharp noise they make. If I ever get a motorcycle, it'llbea Harley.

I think you misunderstood my statement-- DON'T try to sell ME a H-D based on some FALSE CLAIM they are 100% USA built bikes-- because they really aren't.
Are modern Harleys well built? Absolutely. VERY nicely made, great finish and detail. Torquey engines, fun to ride-- greatly overpriced on performance vs price though.
Is the engineering World Class?

It's not that they corner badly, it's that they cannot corner at all. Plenty of touring bikes can corner. Harleys could corner with a little development but that would take funds from the marketing dept.

damn makes me want a 883 sporty you can find them all day long for around 45K but if you do a brand new one with fuel injection will it be that hard to get it in the 11's
captain150 I do not pay much attention to smaller sportbikes like a 600, I have never seen one with many miles on it. Usually most people I know get rid of them after a short time. If they keep them long they lose all their resale value. Personally I dont care for bikes that sound like a chain saw or that need to turn 15 grand to get to the power band. tobin55, overpriced? You get what you pay for! How much resale value does a 20 year old rice grinder have? They are cool if all you want to do is go fast for a short time. Harleys are built like trucks, strong and rebuildable like a big rig, not like a bic lighter that you throw away....
A modern 600cc sportbike will easily run for over 100,000 miles if it's taken care of. And by taken care of, I mean maintained. Those engines will rev to 15 grand all day long without trouble. The engines are also just as rebuildable as a Harley engine.
Obviously the markets for an R6 and a Harley are totally different, but you can't argue with the fact that the performance you get in a sportbike is a great value.

No one in their right mind would ride a Harley. It's slower and cant stop or turn as fast. Tell me, which one of these American things doesnt belong? You have your place on the road. Enjoy it. HD riders have a culture and a philosophy that bonds them. It has nothing to do with speed. We just love the freedom that a HD brings, knowing that we can fix anything that goes wrong with them with the tools we are carrying.

@JumpyCamelSpider fix anything that goes wrong. most of my friends have to take their bikes to the harley dealer to get the oil change. and thats at $318.00 a pop. and to be honest with my friends its not about the freedom on the road, its about how much money they spend on there costume to look like a biker. oh yeah lets not forget about the dolls on the back of the bike. that is just stupid.

No, I ride at reasonable speed. i don't have any need to go 200 mph. I sit back and enjoy the ride, I'm not racing to get anywhere. Can't tell you how many crotch rocket riders died this summer in my area alone just because they were being fuckin idiots. So if that's worth your life, then good luck to you

i hate that they went from straight cut gears to helicut gears on transmission. just to cut down the noise. whats worse for the EPA that a motorcycle make a few decibles louder or that yuppies buy the bike and the trans go out and there is a new bike that no one wants.

harley's are the bike that refused to advance with time, the design of a harley was respectable in the 30's 40's and 50's and considered fast and modern etc, the same with the british bikes and the jap but while they kept advancing their bikes and improving the design harley stayed in a stubborn time warp. they corner badly,but mainly designed for touring/cruising and long range riding. they dont get thrown around corners,you'd just crash. they brake like big trucks that use air to stop,but you need to love the bike your on,not what others think of it. i ride a rsvr1000 and have an r6 and fatbob,love them all for different things,some people are just stupid and make stupid comments about things they dont really understand

It's not that they corner badly, it's that they cannot corner at all. Plenty of touring bikes can corner. Harleys could corner with a little development but that would take funds from the marketing dept.

Harleys corner just fine, well the sportster does, and the new XR1200 looks to be even better then the XL models. but you're correct concerning the big 'cool' models.

Did you research sport bike divers? did you by any chance go to Japanese bike dealer ships and asked them what sexual orientation the owners were? did the data show there were a majority of gay sport bike owners? did you even do a comprehensive test of different bikes and come to the conclusion that harley was the best? what! you didn't do any of those things? so your saying your just opinionated asshole who's point of view is completely bias and non-fact based? who knew?!

im a harley technician and all you motorcyclist that dont know a thing about motorcycles should just break their fingers so i dont have to read such garbage on you tube. even though i only work on HD's i coinsider all bikes a work of skilled engineering and fine art. dont ever disrespect any bike cause i can fine tune any bike that'll make you wish that you hadn't spent thousands on performance parts. shoot i can tune a 883 to run 11.6 on a quarter

no not really just tools. reshape the slide in carb. reface the valve seat. set a leaner tune up opperations. change the trail. reduce spring tention on carb. and many other tricks that doesn't take nuch

captain150 I do not pay much attention to smaller sportbikes like a 600, I have never seen one with many miles on it. Usually most people I know get rid of them after a short time. If they keep them long they lose all their resale value. Personally I dont care for bikes that sound like a chain saw or that need to turn 15 grand to get to the power band. I am not in my 20s anymore....

tobin55, overpriced? You get what you pay for! How much resale value does a 20 year old rice grinder have? They are cool if all you want to do is go fast for a short time. Harleys are built like trucks, strong and rebuildable like a big rig, not like a bic lighter that you throw away....

A modern 600cc sportbike will easily run for over 100,000 miles if it's taken care of. And by taken care of, I mean maintained. Those engines will rev to 15 grand all day long without trouble. The engines are also just as rebuildable as a Harley engine.
Obviously the markets for an R6 and a Harley are totally different, but you can't argue with the fact that the performance you get in a sportbike is a great value.
