your fingering is all wrong ,you need to join a local band and start from scratch,learn to tune them drones,and learn the scale correctly, and embelishments (grace notes) correctly, it seems almost like you've tried to teach yourself with no direction at all, big mistake get a book and try again

you really need to learn how to breath steadily, plus its very hard just to pick up the bagpipes because of the fast fingering, you really need to go back to learning the scales, stop trying to do the fancy stuff and concentrate on your technique.

Once again, take a look at the music, also I noticed the irregularity in your squeezing, and blowing when playing.. Squeeze squeeze, then start blowing when u can't squeeze no more, then squeeze 2 secs before u stop squeeezing that will gid of the sounds you get when blowing.. Helps to maintain steady pressure

Although the playing wasn't that great I gave it a good rating because your the only one I've seen on You Tube play that song. I haven't been able to find it anywhere else. I bought a pair of bag pipes over the summer but fucked up all the reeds because I was an idiot and tried to put them together myself without looking online for instructions. When you get the song down good then let me know cause I love that song.

You do well for undiciplined play, college of piping tutor 1 would help you greatly and my instructor i see biweekly helps me so much just by pointing out mistakes before i learn them permenetly. this is what im afraid will happen to you. You will learn the wrong way and make it twice as hard to unlearn the mistakes you have mastered, good luck. p.s. listen to some of the responses you have gotten from the pipers here they dont mean you harm they are trying to help

Hey, those are some beautiful pipes and i would say you are well on your way to becoming a piper. the one thing i would suggest is that you join a band, when I did i progressed dramatically in a short period of time. Keep at it, always keep leaning new tunes and remember that accuracy comes before speed.

pretty good considering its technically impossible to play the original song on the highland bagpipes, in the film it was in fact played on smallpipes which have a larger or more chromatic musical range.

If you're self taught did you learn via the pipe/practise chanter first, if not try getting one - much quieter for practising and easier - mine is currently next to the computer and when i get a second i blast up and down the scales a few times to try and help eliminating my crossover noises and also to practise my gracenotes

but as said before try and find either a pipe band or at the very least another piper - basically if you want to be an exceptional piper then find another piper to practise with and to learn stuff off. Those that self teach ALWAYS pick up bad habits that can easialy be corrected if another piper is there to spot them.

General melody isn't that hard, it's mostly breath and arm control that's tough. Keeping a constant flow of air through the pipes to stay in tune takes a while to get used to, and even longer to master.
