from a engineering stand point.

You need some 40 speed 18.2V DC brushed motors on Li-poly batteries with a banded CVT stepless transmission coupled with a liquid clutch that'll automatically disengage when the rider "pushes" the board (possibly recharging the batteries at the same time..if your cool) and engage when the forward torque is lost to continue the speed that the rider has already reached. with the CVT transmission you could probably make that thing do 40mph.

that thing needs like some 40 speed brushless 18.2V DC rotary motors on li-poly batteries with something like a CVT dynamic banded transmission and a liquid clutch so the rider can push the board like normal (and maybe even charge the batteries while doing so) and then the clutch will automatically engage when it slows down again to a normal momentum to continue the speed the rider has already built up......

Yeah, but these boards are not meant to be for skating. They're for cruising down boardwalks, riding in the streets, etc. They're fun as fuck too, but not for ramps and other tricks. So I would say people ARE lazy if they use these at a skatepark, only because you don't need a motor for ramps, just natural energy. But these boards are sick on the streets and at the beach. And the people that do complain about them are usually jealous 15 year olds with no money to buy one. Figures.

Trouble is most people who complain about electric boards have never been on one, spouting about some purist crap and pumping. Well we know all of this, of course its great to pump, but don't knock the guy cos what he is doing is really fun. Why would you need an electric skateboard in a bowl, your going from edge to edge building up your own momentum. You dont need a powered platform. But its a nice idea if you fancy a relaxing cruise around the streets.
