  • Comment removed

  • did that scare the shit out of you?

  • Lol it does every time!

  • what state?

  • Ohio

  • OMG THTS LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool startup

  • i had stoud under a OA-2 Siren and it did not hear a thing

  • If you want to stand under the loudest siren in the world try to stand under American Signal's T135AC you are talking loud that siren is so loud it will rattle your ear drums that you can't hear for almost a week or 2 thank god we don't have that siren in Brownsville, Tennessee.

  • Its not all that loud under a T-135, because the sound is being directed away from the person under it...

  • does the wind direction have a factor on the sound of the T-135and other sirens i live near a Federal Signal 2001 it is only a quarter mile from my house.

  • I think it does, that's part of the reason they rotate; so that the sound reaches every point of the compass. A strong wind might make it seem softer in some places

  • I live about a quarter mile from the nearest siren from my house it is the 2001 siren.

  • So did I answer your question?

  • yes you did how far are you to the closest siren in your area?

  • Good question....maybe half a mile

  • i am about a quarter mile from the nearest siren the siren near me is Federal Signal's 2001-130 they are the two newest sirens in our siren system.

  • i live about 2 miles from a T-121.there was a tornado warning and we could not hear it!!!!!!!!! :( its a VERY quiet siren, can barly hear it from school (3 blocks away) and they NEED a new siren!

  • I am about quarter mile from one of our brand new siren that was installed one year ago in January of 2008 maybe they should replace it either with a 2001, American Signal T-128 or T-135 the T-135AC we have 2 2001's the other two are the 3T22, EOWS-612 and the other 4 sirens are Whelen Vortex sirens total sirens are 8 and siren system is being expanded to one or two every few years.

  • Yeah...

  • Have you heard what the brand new 2001 sound like during the start up? our 2001's came already set in the wail or attack signal they can be use in tornado warnings just like the alert signal can be use in tornado warnings here are the 3 signals to listen for on a 2001 steady and wail signal tornado warnings fast wail for fire call too.

  • No I haven't.

  • i have heard the 2001 on every first Saturday of the month when it starts up it has a higher pitch than the old 3t22 and the Whelen 4004's.

  • Have to keep an ear out

  • Right the 3t22 is older than me it is over 30 years old and still works when the city installed it either in the 1950's or 1960's.

  • Yikes

  • ya man iv seen some things and some stuff

  • that is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo loud ,an

  • Whelen WPS 3016s are not as good as the newer WPS 4004 sirens. These are too high pitched. The only good 3016s are the dual tone versions.

  • holy crap that was loud

  • Thats One Loud Sire Great Video Man. :)

  • Son of a bitch!

  • lmao jacob

  • OUCH! Thats LOUD Great Video

  • can i be rude to ask why the USA has so many variations in sirens? Sorry i'm from Ireland so curious about these things as we dont get tornados.

  • Its because there are not very many regulations on them and there are so many different companys that have made them or currently make them. Plus the US is bigger area wise

  • makes sense :) thank you for taking time to answer my query x

  • You don't? Good, because if you ever did, you would be scared out of your mind with our alert system. Watch my videos, you'll see what I mean.

  • i live in kansas (the middle of tornado alley) if theres an tornado siren or the sunday test drill on every sunday....you can hear them from about 3 different towns ( i live in a really small town of a populatorion of less than 1,000 so or siren isnt taht loud

  • my hometown of Brownsville is in Tennessee on the western side of the state our population is more that your small town in Kansas we have about 12,300 people that live in the city i am one of the 12,300 people that live in the city we have 8 sirens in our siren system they are tested on the first Saturday of the month every month at 12 noon weather permitting.

  • @whoami9966 Yeah, especially around Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana, where they get a couple hundred tornadoes every year.

  • Is this siren North or South of Grove City High School?

  • north

  • Wow I guessed right!

  • I have a whelen 3016 close to my house. It is the closest tornado siren to my house.

  • i think my ears are deaf!!!!!

  • Whats the db level on a Whelen WPS 3016?

  • i THINK 124 or 125db

  • where is this siren located

  • Hoover Road in Grove City Ohio

  • ok thank you

  • Sounds like matt99nascar has NO appreciation for the "finer" things in Siren Life. The THHUNDERBOLT in it's prime was the GRANDDADDY and still is over these electronic pieces of (@&*(^. Nothing says "TAKE COVER" like a well maintained THUNDERBOLT. The destinctive roar penetrates in places where these electronic sires could never go. Sorry you don't like thunderbolts. I guess a hamburger is better than steak too.

  • thanks for the comment. I just do not like t-bolts. sorry about my snappy comment. I DO have finer things in siren life. I am getting interseted in them and I just do not like t-bolts. again sorry about my snappy comment.

  • No need to apologize Matt! Just a difference in opinion here. I knot only really think the sound the T-Bolt makes is tops, the engineering of the siren is also a marvel in it's time. The idea of jamming compressed air through the siren chopper to enhance the sound was brilliant and is what gives that super-scary sound the T-Bolt is known for. Too bad they haven't figured out a way to get these electronic pieces of c*!*@) to do that.

  • I have a Thunderbolt on an old Public Works building in Nashville, TN. We have a crappy ATI, also.

  • electromechanical sirens are much better sounds travels further then electronic sirens

  • I've been wondering what model of siren that was. There are a host of them around where I used to live, including two sirens not two miles apart. Good vid & thanks to you, I know now what kind of siren this is! hah.

  • Jesus that thing is hella high pitched.. The one in the city about ten miles north of my house is like half that pitch... OW MY EARS!!

  • tornado warrior1. this sirens is a whelen 3016. I know it sounds like a 2001 because of the high pitch. I think this is much better than the old monsters which means thunderbolt 1000ts.

  • Thunderbolts are louder though.

  • My cat was freaking out and wanted to be petted real bad when i played this video.

  • These Are What Columbus Ohio Has But The Test Always Says " Testing Franlin County Siren Testing" Then A Dial Tone And Then The Siren Goes Off

But I Live In Kenton Ohio

  • put one of your sirens on you tube we dont have any here we havent a tornado in a yeaar just hurricanes

  • Sounds like a Federal 2001.

  • This is not a real tornado.

  • Lol i use to live 2 houses down from it and when i was younger (im 16 right now) i use to cry for some reason when it went off. but i moved away liek 4 years ago. dman its loud as hell especially when i was caught outside like twice my ears literally blew up.

  • this is my favorite siren and then the thunderbolt 1000T

  • how often do they so this?

  • Every first tuesday of the month at 10:00 A.M.

  • what happens then? the world ends?

  • That will be awake all the town!

  • they test all 8 sirens in the Brownsville- Haywood County, Tennessee siren system at 12 noon on the first Saturday of the month every month for 3 minutes longer in a tornado warning they go silent for 5 minutes and turn back on and repeat the same process again.

  • I love the wind-down at the end.

  • is like the alarm of a german attack to london in 1942 xD

  • oh crap my real torado drill whent off just now

  • -is tone deaf- owie, my ears hurt now. you deserve 10 stars for risking your hearing to capture that up close like that.

  • Wonder how meney dogs went nuts that day. ^-^

  • Every dog in the state probably.XD

  • OWWWWWWWWW MY EARS HURT

  • HOLY SH*T!!!dude...if ur not paying attention..this sh*t will make u wet ur pants lol

  • Thank gosh Whelen has lowered there Hz tone to 465 to high pitch here, but still the best Electronic siren manufacturer today

  • we have 4 Whelen Vortex-R the other4 sirens are Federal Signal sirens 2 2001-130's, 13t22, 1 EOWS-612 the EOWS-612 went off in the Westminster Chimes sound the other day.

  • I Hate It

  • Sounds a lot better than most bands these days, someone should get it a record contract.

  • Made my ears ring watching it.

  • Woah - That must be seriously loud right up there beside it!!!
