Ella's voice is not as silky or ethereal here compared to the 60s or so. But I prefer this. It's feels more sophisticated, braver, and somehow more powerful.
Her voice is definitely different here, compared to her voice in its prime; but it still held out so much better than most singers, and in fact sounds better than many singers in their prime. It's true what everyone says: she wasn't a singer. She was an instrument.
