One thing that sticks out in my mind about that day is how many rumors were going around. Ridiculous rumors. The Sears Tower attacked, bombs going off in subways, more planes headed towards various destinations...it was unbeliveable.

Failed to protect the country because of Terrorists? What? A terrorist is a criminal and those that are successful are murderers. The President can't protect you from getting killed by a murderer or raped on the street. So why are you blaming him for terrorist acts. There is really a fundamental misunderstanding of what terrorism is. It is nothing more than a criminal act. It's not an act of war that requires an invasion of another country or lock downs at the airport.

this makes me well up again when I hear this. I was a senior in a NY high school and i walked out into the baseball diamond in a haze after hearing about the attacks. There was groundskeeper in his pickup blasting his radio alternating between Howard and 1010WINS. True shock

I can't believe all of the inaccurate news reports from that morning. "They" (networks) had planes being hijacked all over, explosions taking place where there were none, planes inbound when none were in the air. I'm not implying conspiracys or anything, just amazed at the influx of info and a lot of it incorrect.

it's amazing how howard stern knew who was to blame while it was happening. he mentioned arifat being a suspect, we might never know all the suspects, but the time line of the 1993 bombing and sept 11th indicate that they were from the same people. and could have been revenge for jan 1991 (operation desert storm) saddam would never admit being in charge because he was a sitting duck if he did.
