Ummm moron , I am also from Zanzibar originally but I am not African, it was a British colony, lots of Indians lived there and then moved out once Colonialism ended and war began there.

  • @nostalgiamelancolia1 was his father white ,coz that cudve made him white

  • LMAO @ the goats! Brilliant. Freddie was a genius. RIP.

  • epic distraction at 7:22

  • I'm still unclear about his ethnicity though he had a pale skin and looked white.

  • @nostalgiamelancolia1 farokh bulsara was HUMAN and that is the most important thing. ethnicity is an esoteric and hubristic notion to DIVIDE humanity and as such is AGAINST the teachings of Ahura Mazda in the Zoroastrian Faith also commonly called the parsi faith.

  • @nostalgiamelancolia1 What does it matter? The most wonderful thing about people like Freddie Mercury is they teach us that putting people in categories is just so pointless.

  • @daisyfaithfull why is this comment on a back page?? should have gotten many votes. You get mine.

  • i knew he was not white

  • so let me get this right...freddie at 8 yrs old sailed alone on the sea to Bombay?? alone with no other human being ??

  • Oh my...the goats walking along behind the principal is like watching something from the Muppets TV show.

  • 6:08 what song is that ?

  • @RaeRae914

Mustapha. It's on the Jazz album.

  • the piano piece is "This could be heaven." I believe.

  • So sweet the letter he wrote!

  • @resilvina yes, my yes was filled with tears when i heard it...

  • @resilvina yes, my eyes was filled with tears when i heard it....

  • thank you so much for posting this!

  • "celebration of life" is an abstract....

    what does that mean?

Yahweh is Life...and if u r not walking in His Way, u r not alive

  • @YAHWEHisperfect You are a retard.

  • @YAHWEHisperfect Life means something different to everyone. :) But you can't tell other people what life should be to them.

Also, this video isn't about Yahweh, or what the celebration of life means to you. This is about Freddie Mercury and HIS life.

  • @YAHWEHisperfect We all choose our own walk of life. Yahweh is not my life. I respect the fact that he is yours, and I expect you to do the same for me and everyone else. This film is about Freddy Mercury, not about Yahweh.. maybe you should look into more religious films.

  • So what I'm getting from this is he failed grade 10. I guess it must of been hard.

  • Lol!!!!!! He failed his 10!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm happy to learn that he enjoyed boarding school..My upbringing was similar..living in Louisiana..and attending school in Mauritius. Many talented kids who became top notched performers never excelled in school...Though education is essential!..bravo for freddie..

  • 7:23 EPIC WIN!!

  • lol... Freddie was failed in 10th std ahahahaha still lots of student fail in 10th

in India cause its really hard...

  • @ihateyoujerkoff right, because there are no homosexual white men. go read a book and learn something.

  • @ihateyoujerkoff

we're not here to discuss the aids issue or talk about races

we're just curious about freddie's upbringing

  • @ihateyoujerkoff are there no homosexual and sick white men? are they no white men with aids? i hope you never breed.

  • Farrukh failed year 10?? sad!!!

  • what did he fail?

  • @jamespatrickplant Mustapha-Queen..It was on the Jazz album.

  • Another crazy-ass religion, if you ask me.... ;-)

  • Lol thought so too:P

  • and you're super stupid

  • as a matter of fact the bar mitzvah also takes place for girls, called the bat mitzva.

also the girls have it a year earlier at 12.... guess they're more mature

  • 7:25 lold me so much.. looked like something from a comedy movie..

  • LMAO, you're right. Now for some odd reason my life will not be complete until Im standing somewhere in front of a live camera, and a shitload of goats just randomly show up in the frame.......

  • @SlyHobbit

Thank you, comment of the day!

  • Excellent doc! Many thanks for posting!

  • The goats killed me, I love India. Shame he never spoke much of his parsi indian past or the goats lol.

  • He wasnt ashamed. you have to watch his concerts bc he would sings songs in his native language and walk on around with his countries flag. you dont see black artist walking around saying im black or white artist saying im white. if anything it was hidden by his promoters like they tried to hide the fact he was gay, even though he never hide it

  • HAHAha

right as i was thinking "what a stiff and awkward principal," the billion goats started baa-ing and clop-ing in the background.

    (:

  • Love , love those goats

  • Freddie's sister is the spitting image of him!

  • HOLY CRAP THAT IS FUNNY!!! GOATS.!!!

  • so wat are his ethnicitys...nationalitys

  • They were Parsi who are Iranian zoroastrians who fled Iran to India to escape Arab and Islamic conquest...

  • He's Parsi.

  • I knew robinson was just waiting to yell at the goat herders going behind him!

  • why would he want to hide his past i wonder?

  • Embarrassed; It's always that. Wanting to runaway and be something else, something better.

  • Comment removed

  • i love the piano tracks from freddies songs throughout this documentary. If you haven't seen it before, prepare your tissues because by the end you feel as if you were freddies best friend. I still love you freddie.

  • @queenmercury1991 yeh me too - the lovely piece that appears at the beginning of each segment is 'Guide Me Home' by Thierry Lang, available on iTunes.

  • LoL ROFL at when the principal of Freddie's school is talking and like 200 goats pass haha..

I love Freddie, he is my biggest idol... We miss you! <3

  • lmao.....yeah I noticed that.....very humourous .....poor roy.....his one chance at fame and goats surge by

  • I NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD! when he is talking about the school and higher education when 200 goats pass behaind him!! love u Freddy

  • @VanHalenGirl25 hahahaha it was the best moment in this video...he is talking and the goats passes by

  • the famed "bucked teeth" helped him hit those wonderful yet hard to hit notes when he sang

  • I wonder why freddie teeth were so badly bucked?.....and yet the rest of the family dont seem to be

  • bucked or not he was a bloody good singer

  • that probably came as a put down ...it wasnt meant to be was just curious

  • Actually, if you pay attention to his Mother, she has the same over bite.

Its amazing how Freddie and his sister look alike.

RIP, Freddie. You are missed greatly!

  • Cant understand why people negative your question, I thought the same.

Im a freddie Fan, seen them in concert, WAS there at live aid

  • I think Freddie's teeth sort of gave him character (as crazy as it sounds) him and his mustache! lol

  • Wow look at all these people arguing over pointless things.

I'm sure Freddie did not what his fans to squabble, after all his music should bring us together, not to drive us apart.

  • Kashmira is the most amazing name!!!

If I had anymore children, I would name a girl that. Kashmira. lovely!

  • is john deacon in this?

  • wouldn't count on it, he doesn't seem to want to have anything to do with it anymore, unfortunately .

  • thank you for this wonderful collection...

  • 7:35 lol when the goats all walk past. ive been to India and you constantly come across random animals in the street, in particular cows!

the gateway of India, i wish id have known when i was there i was walking in the footsteps as Freddie!

  • it must be hard to outlive your kids.

  • Poor Freddie failed his final test :(

  • i don't think Freddie would be happy with this, because it is known that he did not want to talk about A THING about his life before he became Freddie Mercury

  • Does this change the way you feel about him?

  • What do you mean?

  • well, I don't think a the writers, politicians, artist and other figures of public interest would be happy to know that researchers, journalist and academics read their privat letters, diaries etc..... but hey, he is dad and people want to understand and know him and his music better. I studied literature, I had no problem with reading kafkas diary - which he wanted to be burned after his death.

  • I'm Persian from Iran. This is to all of you idiots out there saying that Parsis are Indian ! Parsis are not Indian ! and Indians know that ! that's why they are called Parsi ! Meaning Persian. That's why they have light skin ! that's why they that the same religions as the Persians in Iran ! " Zoroastriansm " We have only two kind of Persians left in the world. Those in Iran and those in India known as Parsis !

  • Thanks for making it clear.

  • Uh actually Parsis are considered both Indian and Persian. They've been in India for over a thousand years and speak Gujarati as their mother tongue. DNA studies also show them to be incredibly mixed.

    He can be both.

And why does it really matter?

Freddie Mercury wasn't interested in shitty South Asian/Middle Eastern identity politics. He came to England in part to re-invent himself without being tied down to that. garbage. He was a great singer that belongs to everyone. Leave him alone!

  • you're right cvvemuri !! LEAVE OUR FREDDIE ALONE !! If he was still alive do u think he would talk 'bout you 'bout your personal life ? I DON'T THINK SO!!!

SOI AGAIN !! LEAVE HIM ALONE !! He was LOVED and STILL LOved! you shud pray too for being still loved after ur death as HE IS NOW !!!

all you know is to blam him for what he was ... but did you knew him as HE WAS AS A PERSON ? I don't think so ..! you're to silly to be a lovin' person as he was !no comments !!! -_-' I love u Freddie!

  • parsis came to Gujarat when the were persicuted by islamic invader. They sought refuge in Gujarat. That is their mother language is Gujarati. Also parsis contributed a lot to Gijarati language and culture.

  • @cvvemuri he came to England with his parents and sis because there was a war going on. He didnt reinvent hiself , he was growing into who he really was, discovering his self as all 17 year olds do. And remember he had a reigious funeral, the reigon he was bought up in. He may have not went to services but I dont go to MASS and my heart is still Catholic. when it came down to it Freddie was a human being put to rest acording to his religon

  • Not that he didn't care about his heritage, which I'm sure he did. But it was private and his business.

To Indians and "modern Iranians" (the latter of which he was not):

Don't read your pride into him.

  • @cvvemuri he never denied his herriage or background..but as ALL private matters he spoke little about HIS private life. Show me where he spoke much on ANY private area of his life. I am reaaly answering the ones who think Freddie owed us more then he gave, wich was considerable

  • Wow! I'm appalled at your very own insecurity at being an Iranian. Ask any 'Parsi' (And by Parsi, I do not mean an Iranian), and they will tell you they are Indian. 'Parsi' is just a caste-like identity within India: something that all Indians have. Parsis are ethnically Persians who have lived in India for over 1000 years, adopting Indian customs, language and attire. Parsis are an integral part of Indian culture.

Your claim that Parsis are Iranian is as absurd as saying 'Gypsies are Indian'.

  • Also, your claim that Parsis are light skinned is as absurd as saying that Persians in Iran practice Zoroastrianism. Iran is a Muslim country and the ancestors of Indian Parsis were forced to flee out of Iran due to Muslim persecution.

Not all Parsis are light skinned : something that indicates that Parsis are heavily mixed with local Indians.

You will find all sorts of skin colors in India. India is a huge country with many different races.

Don't be such a Muslim asshole. And quit Islam.

  • @FatalMistletoe

    Well said. totally agree.

  • Damn Freddie had some TEETH!

Oh well, made him all the more adorable as a child. <3

  • lol i love the sheep being herded in the background.

  • wtf hahaha XD

  • that bit is bloody wierd why wuld u even pay atention to that wtf :s

  • u must be stupid.

  • FYI....they are not sheep, they are goats...but just as funny!

  • Why is a pakistanian playing him in this... Hes not a paki

  • haha, sheep!

  • The kid in this part is Freddie's nephew? He looks like Freddie in his childhood.

  • even as a child he had star quality he left home on his own at just 8 years old wow.

  • lol....the part with the sheep is really funny

  • yeah!!it's very funny!!

  • I know LOL

  • haha i like when the principal of freddies old school is talking and the herd of sheep walk by in the background!

  • I Feel so sorry for Freddie's mother because it's so sad to lose a child because it not that way it sood hapen that a parents most see they child die :(

  • lil' rich kid! gosh! ;)

  • I don't understand why don't the boy say freddie mercury at the and ??

  • because that wan't his name yet. Freddie was is nickname at school and not the name he went by yet, and Mercury didn't come along until he wrote My Fairy King

  • long live sexyfred. say no more xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • OMG his sister looks just like him!

  • i kno lol

  • lol at the goats walking past the principal.

  • that is classic the guy kinda looks like he is trying not to get distracted , lol!

  • hahahahaah

  • yeah he looked so serious then all of a sudden like woah!

  • Does it matter?

  • asking a question that someone might know the answer to

  • Freddie Mercury was not Persian meaning Iranian. He was a PARSI from India. Parsis are Indians of Persian origin, so mentioning he was Persian, first of all may confuse people into thinking it was Iranian Persian. Not everyone may know the difference. And anyway, have you tried watching the first installment of this program? If they were going to mention it it would be there in the first 10 minutes. They don't need to keep saying "He was persian, he was persian" over and over again lol

  • Cool, thanks for clearing that up. :)

  • @314v2l151 Parsees are ethnic Persians; they've remained pure for 1,500 years in India because they can't marry outside of their faith and have their spouse converted to Zoroastrianism nor will the children produced in such a marriage be considered Zoroastrian; therefore, all Zoroastrian Parsees are pure Persian, just like the Armenians that have lived in Iran for centuries are pure Armenians. Freddie even identified himself as Persian.

  • @jfkjrlover Any race who has lived in a country for 1500 years, will have totally adopted that country as their own. Parsi's speak Gujarati, not Farsi or any other Persian dialect. They are totally Indian in their mannerisms, food, and love for India. Freddie was scared to really admit the truth as in the racist 70's, being an Indian in the UK was a hard slog and would not sell you more records! I know many Parsi's, NONE of them identify with Iran, they fled to India to escape Islamic persecution

  • becaus he's not, he is parsee indian. HUGE DIFFERENCE, HUGE. Last of his family who lived in persia were his ancestors during the 14th century. freddie mercury has nothin to do w/ iran as his ex-parsi gf once mentioned

  • Its the piano verson of guide me home that he sung with Montserrat Caballe. very beautiful

  • What's the song in the beginning until 0:07?

  • I love the sheep at 7:24 :) That poor headmaster is trying to talk and look professional and he can't because of these sheep :)

  • kinda hard to listen to the guy when u have sheep traffic lol

  • a pearl from Zanzibar !

  • Haha Freddie failed the 10th grade exam!

But wow, he was talented. Good at art, acting, music, sports...

    7:30 is funny

  • Interesting documentary of Freddie Mercury! That boys who acts in the video looks exactly like him!

The Parsi community is really wonderful. They played a really major role in shaping the modern Bombay (Mumbai).

  • Bombay (Mumbai) The home of the great Sachin Tendulkar.
