In Germany/ Austria nearly every young person can speak English absolutely fluently and many also a third language.

People from the USA or England mostly master only the English language, nothing more.

I live in Austria and I speak German and English perfectly.

I also speak Polish very good since this is my mother language.

And my second foreign language is Italian wich we learn in school, tough I dont know it so good yet, I can handle it good.

please remember that 50% of our people in germany can't speak english cause they've learned russian instead of english in school since the were born in eastern germany.

But you are right if you say that most of the movies sound better in english plus most of the jokes get lost in the translationprocess. And i have to admit that some of the german synchs sound realy awfull. ;-)

Why do they say use English titles in German movies? I noticed it when I saw "Jurassic Park" and they kept saying "Mister" instead of "Herr Hammond," and now "Sir."
