  • The most naturally gifted RB in my opinion.

  • Even after the knee injury, he came back the next season and STILL ran for over 1,000 yards.

  • go gale go

chicago loves walter and rightfully so

but if there was a more beautiful tailback'n #40

    ive never seen him

and this soundtrack is just right perfect for the clips

well done & t/y very much for the tuber

  • Difference is Sayers was used as a running back, kick return, punt return. Both were great in their time, two of the most elusive I have ever seen..

  • Without a doubt the greatest running back of all time. Had he stayed healthy he would own every record. Keep in mind the Bear's offense was terrible and 11 guys on the defense were targeting him...and he still accomplished what he did? Barry Sanders couldn't tie Sayer's shoes. Barry had for many carries for losses dancing in the backfield. No player ever had Gale's field vision.

  • @RallyFireProtection whoa now imma HUGE gail fan but barry had it way worse then gail by time the ball was hiked the defensive line was already in the back field yes he he led the nfl in negative yards but he also average 1000 yards or better EVERY season he played including his rookie year

  • @RallyFireProtection @inkdupshawty10 The way I see it is, Gale was the best at juking but Barry was just better at staying on his feet and changed direction really well. They both probably would've done just as well in each other's shoes.

  • speed isn't elusiveness, barry sanders was definitely more elusive.

  • @willis6661 ,watch closely, Gale would plant his right foot, then the defense would think he's going right then he would go left, and vice versa, pay attention, they had different styles,Gale made you miss as he ran. Gale = elusiveness

  • @willis6661 ,second of all, speed is about avoiding your tacklers. Speed is about being elusiveness, because if they cant catch you, that means you avoided them, and I believe thats the whole point.lol

  • @willis6661 I respectfully disagree on two counts. 1st I rate Sayers as most elusive, 2nd speed is an elusive component.

  • what the fuck is your problem?

  • I HOPE WALTER PAYTON AND YOU SHARE A GRAVE

  • GO BACK TO YOUR WHITE PADDED ROOM NIGGER

  • GO BACK IN YOUR STRAIGHT JACKET NIGGER

  • TAKE YOUR MEDS NIGGER

  • @fukc6you6kkunt shut your face, f***ing psychotic piece of shit.

  • sanders was great, but he didn't have gale's speed.

  • barry sanders is better

  • AWESOME!!! No one better!!

  • wrigley field against the niners sweep running toward us i was just a 12 yr old kid'd snuck in the game and watching from an upperdeck seat near mid field like i was looking down a telescope cornerback kermit alexander knifed thru a blocker hit gale clean right at knee high gale didnt get up man i am telling you that stadium went dead silent we all knew somethin' bad had happened man he was such a beautiful runner paint strokes by a master was what he was
  • Can anybody tell me where this music comes from, it's really good.

Every time that Sayers touched the ball, you thought he could score. Never seen another back like him although Barry Sanders came close.

  • at 2min-2:10 is tht full speed to near 0 a back up on a dime? will i ever see this action n another game? nope. gale 4ever

  • I remember watching that 6 TD game on TV. It was against the 49ers. I believe it was 4 rushing TDs, 1 pass catch, and 1 punt return.

It was also aginst the Niners in 1968 when he suffered his first knee injury, running a sweep.

I also attended Sayers last game against the Niners in San Francisco in 1971, when, sadly, he had nothing left.

Quite simply, the greatest runnning back I've ever seen.

  • Those cuts he's making aren't on astroturf, folks. That's on muddy sod at Soldier Field and wherever. A shame he blew out his knee; he was Barry Sanders before Sanders was born. I remember that 6 TD game too; he was a rookie; I think 2 were kickoff returns, 1 a punt return, and not sure on the rest, but it was magic.

  • Sayers was great but I think Barry Sanders was better.

  • As George Halas said 'his like will never be seen again". There has never been a more thrilling sight in pro football history than Gale Sayers in the open field. I was 8 years old in 1965 when he had his 6 TD game vs. the 49ers & that remains the single best performance in my lifetime.Oh yes, he also was the best kick returner in NFL history & was elected to the HOF after only 68 games.
