Personally I think it's one of the covers that the band took the song and made it their own and evolved it (i.e. NiN's hurt by johnny Cash). He is not compared to Klaus but imho this song is now epic. And just technicaly speaking Daniel's vocal range and expression cannot be reached even in the slightest by mr Meine (not to speak ill of his voice but I'm answering to a comment that pissed me off!).
