i cant stop dancing baby ,what a chanter , i forgot the good looking hik could dance,,magicforget about his movies entertainment was the priority, best song, only the strong survive
@15Holladay Bossa nova takes from the samba rhythm, but is much less percussive. On YouTube search for Antonio Carlos Jobim, João Gilberto, Nara Leão or Marcos Valle to hear bossa nova. (There is also a great medley of bossa arrangements on YT with Frank Sinatra and Jobim performing together) This song "Bossa Nova Baby" is a pop tune with a latin rhythm, but the only bossa nova is in the title. Cheers.
@SenhordoBonfim Ok, so, it's that Latin rhythm that gives it that aspect of Bossa Nova although it isn't. Ok, thank you very much for the reply and the reference. This will help me get better at bass. :D
I love the way he sings "if you lend me a dollar I can buy some gas and we can go for a little ride..." But, damn, I wish he'd been able to grow as an artist and really tap into his bottomless talent instead of getting stuck with leeches like the Memphis Mafia and crooks like Tom Parker.
You don't know what you're talking about, $1 for gas in 1963. Gas was about 0.30, that's 30 cents a gallon back then, it wasn't over a $1 until the 1980's.
This song opens with the same chaotic frenzy as a bull riding event. Once the gate opens, all hell breaks loose as the "bull" charges to center stage. Once there, it's a flurry of arms, legs & pelvises all in an attempt to shake his lyrical "cowboy." Forget 8 seconds. He keeps this up for 2 minutes. With "sweat poppin out of his head" the king exhibits moves usually reserved for your local strip club. Everything is on display here - frantic lyrics, thumping bongoes and even a mariachi band.
Love love love this song.Elvis was and still is the best.Nobody has yet been able to move as good especially his gyrating pelvis, look so good&sing so AMAZINGLY GOOD.
Elvis had moves and a style that only he could do. It just never looks the same when someone else tries to do his moves. It is not a style that can be taught in a dance class it is pure natural feeling and movement that came from his soul. Like James Brown.
@gabrielkipp77 Listen closer ..... Elvis sang "some" gas, not just a gallon, so they could ride ..... even up in the mountains. I remember when gasoline was fifteen cents a gallon ..... now you can GASP about GAS ..... LOL
i love the fact that every instrument that he is supposed to be playing in his movies/videos, he doesnt actually play it. nothing wrong with it, coz no doubt that its bloody hard work to do the stuff he did, let alone play and instrument as well. i remember one video he was in, he was playing guitar, only thing was, there were no strings on it hahaha. still, guy is amazing, and i've met very few people who can anywhere near similar to him. KING FTW!
@Colin149 WRONG!! this song was written by Leiber-Stoller and recorded in 1962 by Tippy and the Clovers. Elvis recorded it in 1963, Bill Ramsey in 1964. Check your facts before posting misleading comments

Sadly, three of the nine mariachi back up singers died from exhaustion on their front porch, thirty five years later, bragging of the time they sang with Elvis!!!
I defy anyone to try to move like Elvis did at the 1:08 mark of this video. I think it's phsically impossible. No one, not even Michael Jackson could have done this. Every thing is going in opposite directions, knees, shoulders, hips, feet, hands, everything.
@DonnSeib my dad is actually an elvis impersonator (oh im sorry they like to be called "TRIBUTE ARTIST" ) baaahahaha anyways yes that IS a difficult feat but ive seen it done many times by my dad and many of his friends!! i can safely say that moonwalking is more difficult!!
Great song. At 1:05 I like when Elvis sings "if you lend me a dollar I can buy some gas and we can go for a little ride".
Back in 1963 you could probably fill your car up with about $5 or $10 worth of fuel today $1 doesn't even buy you a litre of the damn stuff to fill the wipper snipper!!he,he.
Well, inflation was actually lower back then than what it is today so no, I haven't forgotten inflation and that's what my original tongue in cheek post was all about! well i said to my mom "im doin my homework, my feet feel just like lead." said "mom i got a lot in maths, science, And the sweat poppin' out of my head" She said "Hey Bossa nova baby, you stop workin, and come dancing with me" She said "Hey Bossa nova baby, move your feet, or else you'll find yourself tiger meat" Bossa nova, Bossa nova.
Though I give a "Shout Out " to Elvis !... for this song and for his work in film... he did his thing. * I must say though that "Bossa Nova Baby" was originally recorded by "Tippy and the Clovers". I know this because my Dad sang the background with his then group called the Wisemen and that version is more soulful, for that era... the originators of the "Bossa Nova Baby" !

I had the DVD and popped it in last night and suffered through all the crap that was the rest of the movie just to watch him sing this song and DAYUM!! I wasn't prepared to see him hit those dance moves. FANTASTIC. Glad you posted this here. Elvis was, is and will always be, incredible.

this performance and elvis' live version of the wonder of you are two very good examples of the fact that he is one of the very few performers in the world who can sing a particular song AND NOT sound corny................he can convey a sincerity in a song that very few other performers, alive or dead can convey...........if any.
Elvis The King of Music. The only singer able to sing in different styles of music. If it was not for Elvis, singers and bands like Michael Jackson, Beatles and others would have never existed. Jacksons and the Beatles did not had a good voice, but because of Elvis era when the world was looking for more Elvis type singers, they became famous. long Live The King! ELVIS PRESLEY. Love from Iran.

That mouth, face, eyes, hair....those amazing hips. What a luscious, vibrant, sexy man. And that's not even taking into account his incredible talents and beautiful voice. Often imitated (badly) yet never to be duplicated- an inimitable original was Elvis Presley.
yeah my grandfather. Manny Lopez :)

I hadn't watched this movie in its entirety since I was a kid.
