idk very much about hockey but I play semi profesional soccer and if a person is on a breakway what is thought is to pull them down because your goalie has an advantage on a penalty shot, because the goalies have become so much better at saving them. I think this seems to be the same idea, except both ways you get a breakaway.
I'll take it we won in overtime and got 2 points, and Marty stopped him both times, by throwing his glove he showed that he wanted to win and didn't want to lose in the last 16 seconds, to quote hexy "in Philly the love of winning only comes second to the hatred of losing".

he took a gamble and it did nothing but give the other team a penalty shot AND fortunatly for him they didn't score.
i think the only thing that could happen after this action was a goal after the penalty but it didn't happen.
so his move was useless and lead to something that could've made his team lose.

Sean Avery waving his stick like an idiot in front of Brodeur resulted in a GOAL. that's definitely the right play, then. Similarly, high sticking a guy in the face on purpose, as long as it results in NO GOAL on a powerplay, is probably a good play by your logic. The result is independent of the action, which was completely stupid.

Lightning suck anyway. Actually the whole Southeast Division is garbage, they are bringing down the whole Eastern Conference. Flyers suck too but at least they can hang in the Atlantic. It's the only division that has a chance of beating the West in the Stanley Cup this year. Except the Bruins (sick!), and Montreal is pretty tight. But it's gonna come down to Pitts or NYR again.

WHAT!!! How did he save a pretty sure goal?!? It is alot easier to score on a penalty shot then on a breakaway and throwing your glove really doesnt accomplish that much. He didnt even hit the guy with his glove, or better yet the puck. Had he throw his stick and hit the puck that would be different but still just as stupid unless you saw your goalie was beat.

dude, did you see malone look back like "WTF"? - I think the glove distracted the dude making the play weaker - a goalie has a better chance of stopping a penalty shot than a breakaway (more time to get in the zone) - look i'm not saying its a method that should be used regularly but the end result was NO GOAL - sometimes you gotta think outside the box, man

Well i have played hockey for 18 years, so i trust my evaluation.
By your logic having sex only in the morning so your girlfriend doesnt get pregnant is a good way to not have a kid as long as your girlfriend doesnt get pregnant.
The player also has more time to think about what he is going to do and doesnt have to worry about the people chasing him.
It was a stupid move.

Bottom line is the guys was playing defense against a breakaway and NO GOAL was scored. THAT means he was successful. Maybe you could get off your high horse for a minute and admit it.

it just means that Malone rly sucks, he missed the breakaway + the penality shot. I dont think he has even seen the glove when hes shooting, he should have scored.

idk very much about hockey but I play semi profesional soccer and if a person is on a breakway what is thought is to pull them down because your goalie has an advantage on a penalty shot, because the goalies have become so much better at saving them. I think this seems to be the same idea, except both ways you get a breakaway.

I'll take it we won in overtime and got 2 points, and Marty stopped him both times, by throwing his glove he showed that he wanted to win and didn't want to lose in the last 16 seconds, to quote hexy "in Philly the love of winning only comes second to the hatred of losing".
