@Zebonka I think John Longley was pretty emotional at the time. It had been a long hard slog. The "No-no-no" I think was when the spectator fleet looked like it was going to get creamed by Endeavour when she swung in the breeze, then "The Navy's good" when the tug got in there.
We all had the unprecedented afternoon off from school that day to see the Endeavour coming back into Whitby harbour, I will never forget that day. :)
I was lucky enough to come across the ship in Glasgow in October 2004. I booked a trip from Greenock to Whitehaven for my birthday treat, (60th!) and had a wonderful time. Managed to fix their outboard motor so we all got photos from the zodiac as we sailed passed the Isle of Man. The memories will stay with me forever. We had wonderful full time crew looking after us.
I crewed on this ship from Baltimore to NYC. What a great time! We were greeted with the fire boats as we passed the Statue of Liberty and shot newspaper cannonballs at the QEII. I would love to do it again!
The model which appears in the clip was at the construction shed in Fremantle in 1993. Where it is now I don't know. It might be at the Fremantle Maritime Museum.
A few of the original Endeavour Volunteers moved to the "B Shed" maritime museum before the new one was built nearby.
I sailed 9 days on it as voyage crew in New Zealand in 2000. Most anyone can sail on her as a crew member for a voyage or as a passenger. Info at the ships website. Put HM Bark Endeavour in a search engine. It might only sail in Australia for the foreseeable future. It's a replica of a ship Captain Cook sailed around the world in the 1770's. Nearly an exact replica. They had the original 1770's plans when they made the replica.
When Endeavour was launched, her planned service life as commercially registered seaworthy vessel was 20 years (2013 approx) and from that point on, she would be retired to static exhibition in Sydney.
For the sake of authenticity, modern interior fitment necessary for commercial register would be removed.
The growing community of friends of Endeavour might prefer her modern iteration be retained. This Endeavour's own history has brought pleasure to many people.
I was 7 when this happened, and I have never laughed so hard as I laughed at the guy who was crying on the mic as the ship slid into the water.

I used to know someone who had the chance to help with the carpentry. He turned it down! The most stupid choice any man could make.
