No no, mate. I too thought it was fake (around about 0.15 -16 sec) of the video either she's too fast or their is sum one else playing along wiv her.

Also, type her name on youtube, she has done many other performances too (LIVE in audience), so it's not fake.

Rimpa's good, but she needs to realise that speed is not everything. She always seems to be pushing herself to play faster and faster. She always looks as if she's in a hurry to get somewhere. But in my opinion, this focus on speed is a common problem with North Indian percussion. The laya patterns found in South Indian music are a lot more intricate and interesting, without just emphasising on speed of fingers. Tabla players can learn a lot from the South Indian mridangam.

Just because one's hands are "smaller" does not mean that they are weaker. I think she looks tense because of the way she is responding to the flow of the music; it's more stylistic than to compensate for lack of hand muscles.

Do you play percussion? If you don't, you might not be aware that a lot of women who do play favor very loose blouses/shirts for quite practical reasons - *especially* when being filmed. You also need to think about wearing something that won't be ruined from dirt (onstage and backstage) or sweat.

Bazzy06. The performance is real and fantastic. The YouTube videos are not in sync, this means that the motion does not correspond to the sound. There is some delay in video and sound transmission. Some other clips on this site are considerably out of sync.
