And if any of you here complain that AAP was responsible for the Blue Ribbon titles, you're wrong: it was WB itself which did all the Blue Ribboning on some of their stuff between 1943 and 1956.
They own the rights to the AAP name by virtue of the Turner Broadcasting division, but... hmm... that is an interesting point. Of course the AAP title card was only intended for television, and was never of high quality to begin with.
The original Popeye cartoons, however, have been restored with the Paramount/Famous logos, stripping all references to AAP (which was a logo plastering job).
But only briefly did that part of the acquisition include the United Artists (pre-MGM) roster of cartoons such as those by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises (DFE), including Pink Panther, The Inspector, The Ant & the Aardvark, Roland & Rattfink, Hoot Kloot, Blue Racer, Tijuana Toads and The Dogfather.
When Associated Artists Productions bought the pre-1949 Warner Bros. color cartoon library in 1956, they placed this opening bumper at the beginning of virtually EVERY Warner caroton they had! Initially, they cut a few into the "Merrie Melodies" opening title so that the Warner Bros. logo was omitted, but eventually left the original titles intact.
When Turner began restoring the pre-1949 Warners cartoons (the so-called "Dubbed Versions") in 1995,the a.a.p card was deleted;PD copies of the LT/MMs are the only source for this logo now.
@fromthesidelines And don't forget AAP also did acquired the early black & white cartoons such as the "Merrie Melodies" series from 1931 through 1933 when it was from the Harman/Ising period including the cartoons "Smile Darn Ya Smile", "One More Time" and many others from that TV package.

I love this logo. It's underrated!

The AAP title card always used the Merrie Melodies theme. Even on Looney Tunes cartoons.

Who has a higher-quality version of this logo, which has a blue background and yellow lettering for the initials?
I know on prints of "Daffy Duck & Egghead" seen on TV from 1956 to 1995, this logo was wholly tinted blue.

I've seen this on some Looney Tunes on Cartoon Network in 2000-2001. Also a silent version on a Kids Klassics video called, "Bugs Bunny."

That red-tinted Daffy head always bugged me.

I think WB should put a restored and remastered version of the AAP logo as a special feature on one of the next Looney Tunes Golden Collections.

To add on what you said: AAP was bought by United Artists in 1958, later MGM/UA, then in 1986 Turner acquired most of MGM's film and cartoon library.

some cartoons continued to show the a.a.p. logo into the 2000s, such as "I Love to Singa"
